Laura, you are going to be okay.  If your car has front wheel drive, it's normal to have chains only on the front.  (It it's a rear wheel drive, then it would have chains only on the back wheels.)  Thank goodness I have a dad who actually knows this stuff.  Have a good drive.  And it's too bad that you can't go to your cousin's wedding reception.  Annoying. :( :( :(  I have a cousing who's getting married in May on the exact day that I have my HUGE orchestra concert that I can't miss.  I'm really sad. :(  So we have similar dilemmas, I guess.  Maybe I can skip the concert.  *looks up hopefully*  Anyway, calm down and have fun on this drive.  Driving isn't really too bad (coming from one who drove across the country last summer).  I mean, if you have an audiobook with you, it goes by pretty fast.  If you don't... well.... let's just say it goes by really slowly. ;)

Oooh and it's snowing right now!!!!!!  Yippee!!!  See, I come from CA and I don't see snow unless I go places (like the east coast).  But I leave on Saturday. :( *sob* I'm having sooo much fun here in the snow.  But I'll get to see my dog Lancer again. :) :) (See the thread Lancer's Birthday for more info).  Oh dear, here I go on and on, sorry if this is very boring.

Oh, and Admin, this is random, but do you think at some point in Chatterbox future, you'll run out of anti-spam letters and have to reuse some??  And if two people post at exactly the same second, do they get the same anti-spam code?  Just curious.

I have no clue about the codes, but I'd guess they are completely random. Many possible combinations of letters. Some may repeat right now. How would anybuggy know that?

Oh Leaf, thank you so much!! If I hadn't already gone on the trip and come back all right, this post would have made me so much more comfortable on the drive!!  Thank you so much!!!!  Thankfully, we did have an audio book, it was one I read before too, so I knew I would love the story!  And, we never ended up using the chains anyway.  But the drive up was really quite nerve wracking!

Firstly, we went for probably fourty miles with our gas tank blinking and chiming empty!!!!  I was literally holding my breath for most of that bit!  Oh, it was so scary!  We kept passing gas stations that were closed, and not know when we would come across another!

Then a while later after we thank goodness found a wonderful gas station and filled up quite thoroughly, it got dark (we were a bit delayed in driving because of the gas dilemma), and there was black ice, and we couldn't go slow enough to put on the chains because the traffic around us was going about forty, and I guess you have to be under thirty to put them on or something....  Thank goodness again my dad said he learned to drive in that kind of weather, and he's one of the safest drivers I know, and I don't know why I ever doubted him.  Then, a while later, we finally reached the area we wanted, and we missed our exit, and had to turn around in a chain removal place that was so full of snow that we got stuck and nearly didn't make it out of there.

Eventually we reached the place, and spent a wonderful time there with our lovely family, and the drive home was fine.  But boy oh boy, I never want to relive that nightmare!!!  I said to my parents, 'next time, we're flying, I don't care how much it costs!'.  :)

Oh yes, and we left home around seven thirty in the morning, and got there around six thirty at night.  UGH!  And that was with almost no stops.

Scary.

So thank you sooo sooo sooo much, what you said means a lot to me!

I'm from Ca too, as you probably know.

I'm glad I was a help!  Black ice?!?!  Whoa, there!  Your dad must be some driver!  Being stuck in the snow in a chain removal place??  Oh dear me!  I didn't even have that problem when my mom was driving on snow (and she's not so experienced being a native Californian)!  I just read a bit of your post aloud to my parents to tell them how horrible this stuff can be, and my dad just gave me a lecture about driving on ice and snow. :D  Oh and I'm glad you had an audiobook; those really help.

Yay, it's great to have another Californian!

YAY! MERRY (late) CHRISTMAS!

What did I do on Christmas?

Well, for starters I got snowed in at my grandparents house! (For your information we live less than a quarter of a mile away from them (in the country))

But anyway, so now we have about two feet of snow on the ground, the roads are snow-packed, ice-covered, and almost impossible to drive on.

But I had lots of fun on Christmas anyway! My cousins were there and my second cousins came the next day. We went tubing behind the four-wheeler (because we have no hills (: lots of fun!!), played games, ate food... yup. fun, fun, fun !!! :)
