Chatterbox: Down to Earth
This makes me so mad. I got an
email forward from a good friend :(. It annoys me because they are blaming Muslims for things that Terrorists did! Just because the Terrorists are Muslim doesn't mean that the Muslim faith promotes the Terrorism!! All through history religion has been used wrongly by humans to promote violence, but that is not what God ever wants. And at the end they complain that this is unfair because Christians don't have the same sort of thing with stamps - what about the virgin Mary and baby Jesus on the stamp that I've seen during Christmas season? That is about equal to the Muslim holiday stamp. I'm a devoted Catholic which is why I feel like I have to stand against this - Jesus does not want us to treat other human beings like this. They deserve the same amount of respect that I want for me and my religion. I'm not Muslim, and don't agree with their faith, but this is just not right. Please post if you agree! |

It was complaining because of a new stamp for a Muslim holiday, and at the end it was like "remember the MUSLIM bombing of ---" a long list :(

To the front? Please? Maybe?

I just got a REALLY creepy email about a DETAILED description on how a girl will come kill you in your sleep if you don't forward the email. (how she will kill you.) It was gross!!!! I forwarded it to the girl who sent it to me.... becuz it was gruesome and scary.

Yeah, someone I know got that same email! Here's what I normally do with EVERY forward: I scroll down to the very last sentence, WITHOUT looking at any of the content. The last sentence is usually where they put the "threat" like "If you don't forward this the wish you just made will not come true". Then I delete it and feel completely free, since I never made a wish! You see what I mean?

Well then.

Oh, oh, oh, is it about the one-eyed girl named Summer, or whatever??? My "friends" all got that one and FREAKED out!!! They seriously thought it was real!! :) I had to explain to them how it was fake, and that made them feel better. :):)

I agree. I am not muslim, nor do I agree with their faith, but that gives us no right to be racist against them. Putting anyone in a muslim faith under a category of such evil is a from of racism, and it is wrong and should not be tolerated.
Delete the email and scold the friend.

Oh, yes, that makes me sad, I totally agree with you Grace... Ugh, don't you hate it when people you know and love act that way?
(September 17, 2009 - 1:41 pm)
Aww that's really mean of whoever made that e-mail! >:( The Muslims aren't responsible for all of that!! :( And about the stamps, I've never even thought about it before really, but I usually buy the stamps with Mary and Jesus for my Christmas cards! :) But really, that's mean, and I'm quite surprised that I haven't gotten that e-mail yet, because I seem to have gotten every single forwarded junk e-mail. :P

I agree. All racism and bigotry is terrible. All people are people. No matter their religion, race, political affiliation, or anything. I respect people who deserve respect, by being nice. I really don't care if the bombers were atheist, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Ancient Greek Polytheistic, or whatever. Just because one person is evil doesn't mean everybody vaguely similar to them is evil.

I do not agree with the Muslim faith, but I do think that sending out a forward like that was totally unnecessary. As a rule I loathe email forwards, but at least most of them are pretty harmless (surveys, travel scrabble, annoying but okay things like that...). But to send out a forward against any religion is wrong in the extreme. For instance what if someone of the Muslim faith received it, or something like that?
@ R~D~: Hah! I think I got that one. Y'mean the really super irksome one 'bout "Summer" who has "blond hair and scary eyes and is dead"? Lol. "If you don't send this forward to at least ten people I promise your life will be MISERABLE! Like Robert such and such, who DIED because he didn't send it!"
I sometimes wonder if these people have nothing better to do.

I explained it really badly. Ha! This email said that if you don't forward it, a little dead 11 year old girl will come and kill you in your sleep and it explained how in gruesome ways!! I didn't die last night so I think I'm okay... JK. I never believe those. My friend said she only forwarded it to me becuz it scared her!!!!!! :S

I know what someone like your friend should do (If she just can't stand the thought of not forwarding it) in situations like that: DELETE the part of the email that says she will kill you! and the part that says "If you don't forward this ---- will happen" and then forward it. At least you're ending that whole chain, because the people who you sent it to hopefully won't have any reason to forward it, and you won't be all scared. I know none of you, or me ;), would ever even forward it though, but still. This is also good if you kind of like the forward, like if it's a little quiz or something. Sometimes at the end it will say something like "If you don't forward this to at least 5 people in the next 5 minutes, you are a loser" etc. You can always replace that with something like "If you had fun, pass it on!" or something. Hahaha. I don't know where I'm going anymore so I'm just going to stop. ;) Do you kind of get the point? You know what someone should do? Start a new chain email petition to stop those forwards. Hehe sounds kind of hypocritical doesn't it...

You know, Grace, I've done a chain mail explaining how and why you should use BCC. It didn't really work. All of my friends aren't using it... yet, at least. But I had fun writing it anyway. Maybe I'll post it here sometime!
