Random Thoughts/Things?
I wasn’t really sure what to call this thread, but I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for awhile now. Basically, anyone can post anything here. Any random thought you have, any random thing that happens to you, any random question that pops into your mind. Have fun, and don’t be afraid to be random.

Oh my gosh, Shunsuke Sato is my favorite violinist of all time! I was just going to mention him, and I'm actually listening to him play BWV 1002, the first partita, as I write this :DDDDDD The first partita is definately my favorite, and it's even better when Sato is playing!!!
To answer some of your questions and such, I do know of Rachael Podger. However, I prefer Sato in anything I can find. He's just incredible. I love his improvisation, rubato, embellishments - things I use a lot. Probably because of the amount I listen to him, but obviously he's way better than me :) He has singlehandedly made me interested in the Netherlands (because of him being the concertmaster and artistic director of the Netherlands Bach Society). I am so going to go to the Netherlands and study with him one day. If nothing else, from the interviews with him I've seen, he seems really nice.
Also, solo Bach? As you play violin, I'm assuming it's the partitas and sonatas?!?!?! I'm still on the first cello suite on viola - not exactly that impressive XD Wow. That's just really incredible.
I've looked up the Benedetti foundation. I'm glad they're not just for super-advanced students :) I'm going to look into it more and beg to do something with them XD
I have to go, so this is all I can say for now but I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE YOU KNOW SHUNSUKE SATO!!!!! Bye!

I actually would have been surprised if you hadn't known about Sato. He is so amazing. I've just discovered him, so I haven't listened to a lot of his music. But what I have heard has blown me away. I was really excited to discover my library has an album of his solo Back performances. I can absolutely see wanting to study with him. You should email him, who knows, he may be willing to do a private masterclass with you.
I am learning the Bach Sonatas and Partitas. My teacher thinks I have a natural tendency towards a baroque sound, lately all my teacher has been giving me is Bach. And it is hard. Not always note wise, but musicality wise. It is so easy to totally butcher solo Bach. Sato makes it sound so easy.
The first cello suite is impressive! I think for Bach – any composer really – how it is played matters more than how hard technically it is. I really haven't learnt that much Bach either. There is so much of it, sometimes I look at my book and despair of learning it all.
Gosh, this has been so fun chatting with you about music. I don't want to stop. (By the way, I've also been listening to Sato play BWV 1002 while typing this).

Angst hurts. Musicals hurt. Manhwa/K-pop hurt.
I've had too much of all three and now I hurt.

So... (Unrelated), Is it evil to 'trick' people into thinking you like someone? Like, for context, asking questions about what you would do if you liked this person to your friends, but that you're only asking, "for a friend." Even though you also know that it makes it look painfully obvious that you like the person in question? But you actually don't? You're just curious about how a character you're writing should respond to certain things and you're using real life peoples as a reference? But you can't just stop asking stuff, despite the fact that it feels like you're indirectly leading people on? Like... It feels evil. And what if you say stuff like, "Say I have someone I like, and they're *insert qualities of 2D-person/characters*" but then they get excited because they think you like someone for real but you.... You're just fangirling in incognito. Evil? Or not?

I can see how that might be a bit evil...? I guess it's technically their fault if they interpret it that way, but also how are you supposed to interpret it? It may depend on whether they would consider such an alternate conclusion, but at the same time it might not matter. Hmm.
However, if they do interpret it that way, it might certainly be more authentic and helpful to your cause. And if you maintain that it is theoretical, it's technically not your fault if they take it the wrong way. It might be worth risking being a little bit evil...

is ketchup a smoothie?
is cereal soup?
is a hotdog a sandwich?
if you enjoy wasting time is it really a waste of time?
(August 19, 2021 - 7:53 pm)
no.

@Tealeaf - look up the cube rule of food - it might answer your first three questions (or at least the third one). I experienced those same questions at engineering camp this summer. Though nobody could agree if a hotdog was a sandwhich or a taco, and I think it could be preceived either was.
And for the wasting time, I would say no, it isn't wasting time and therefore to like wasting time is a paradoxical statement.
Ah, I love a good paradox :)

A bug bit me on my wrist, and it's swollen and itchy and irritating. Worst of all it effects the bending of my wrist and I don't know if I will be able to play violin. Oh, woes!

Would anyone be interested if I created a Regular Writing Thread? Like the Regular Poetry Thread but for writing? Like if you have a scene that you think needs editing or feedback, or maybe you just want to write a little something and need somewhere to put it?
