Chatterbox: Down to Earth
I need help!!
I need help!! I am a vegetarian. This kid at school keeps bugging me about being one, almost every day. He says that humans were made to eat meat, and when I try to tell him to bug off or to keep his coments to himself, he doesn't stop. I believe that poor animals shouldn't be eaten, and that being a vegetarian is better for your health but I don't harrass him. I don't even like meat. He laughs when people say that they're vegan. I don't think it's for him to do this, and I need help. I am so hurt and mad, I think I'll explode. What should I say to him?

He might not be a bully- he could just be teasing you. I have the same problem at school, and usually I just say, "I don't even LIKE meat!"
Although I do. Bacon is amazing, and sausage, and chicken, and- ooh! hotdogs, but it's easier to explain that way, and not REALLY a lie , considering that I don't really like beef. Anymore :P

I've often found that if someone is bothering you, one of the best things to do is ignore them. It might be hard, but sometimes it's best to just walk away. The reason he's doing this is to get a reaction out of you. I am not a vegetarian and never will be, but people shouldn't be teased because of their choices.

Oh, the same exact thing happened to me and another girl at camp!! The other girl gave in and, *shudders*, ate a chicken nugget.... For the rest of the week, she ate a ton of meat (and surprisingly didn't get sick!!)... :(:( Buuut, I convinced another girl to be a veggie at camp three years ago, and she still is!!!!!!! :D:D (actually, she eats bacon, but that's all!) But I'm really sorry, I don't have any advice, except for telling that kid to shush his insulting mouth and eat his ground-up cow or pig or chicken. Sorry! :(

Lol. That's funny somehow - "Tell that kid to shush his insulting mouth and eat his ground-up cow or pig or chicken." Can I quote you on that? :D But I agree with your frowny faces after the camp story. I'm not a veggie, but if you're not doing something wrong, submitting to peer pressure and giving up your principles is SERIOUSLY UNCOOL. And I'm not usually head-over-heels about coolness, but that's the only word I could find that worked well enough....

Thand you for all your advice. No, I didn't have a chance to try anything yet, because I haven't seen him over the summer. Paige, VERY FUNNY! Once I asked my best friend how her cow was, and it was funny for both of us. (don't tell me that's rude; we were playing around about our food choices.)
Thank you again, and when school starts I will use your suggestions if it continues. I feel so much better now that I know how to solve my problems... hey, why aren't there any relieved smileys here!?
