Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Oregon has to

Oregon has to be the best state!! A lot of people here live in Oregon, and I think it's about time that someone made a thread about it!

P.S. Non-Oregonians:  It's pronounced Or-e-GUN, NOT or-e-GONE.

Adina, if you lived in CA, you'd say that was "boring." If you came from NY, you'd say that was "boring." No matter where you live, you'd most likely call it boring because you'd lived there your whole life. I don't even believe in boredom! And anyhow, NJ is an hour's drive from two of the country's most wonderful cities, NYC and Philadelphia, and forty minutess from the shore. And aren't you an unschooler? NJ has the most lenient homeschooling/unschooling laws of all the US states.

Sorry, is thistrolling? Just defending my home state.

Oregon? I've heard it's very rainy, and I know that Beverly Cleary lived and set many of her books there... but that's about it.

Huh!  No way!  Cali is AWESOME!!!!!!!  I love it!  I mean, sure, I want to go elsewhere sometimes, I mean, who doesn't???  W00T for Cali!!!!  (NorCal is so way better than SoCal... well, ok, I guess they're both pretty awesome)  :D :D :D

Q:  Do you all think of Californians as blond tan surfer dudes and dudettes who spend all the time in bikinis and on the beach?

(It was funny, when my cousin visited from Indiana last year, I asked her that, and she said that's pretty much what all the people she knows think, but she was more tan than I am!  {and blond})

I live in Oregon and agree that it is ah-mazing! This summer I'm going to New England, since my Mom grew up in Massachusette, and I'm really looking forward to it! Anyone been to Germany? I spent a few weeks there last summer, and I have quite a few german ancestors (sp?). I'm going to go to college there (probably). :D:D:D:D:D

My parents have been to Germany multiple times. Maybe next time they'll take me.

Almost all of my mom's side family live in Massachusetts, so I'm pretty familiar with it. We're actually (my whole family of 9!) flying there in a little less than a week! I'm so excited! I live in Iowa.

Pirocks, I have to say that I would choose the clam chowder over the lobster, and I hate baked beans, but I know what you mean about New England food. :):):)

Aargh! I keep forgetting to put my name in!

This thread is about OREGON. If you want to talk about how much you like other states, do it on a different thread.

Umm, no offense, but subjects on one particular state can sort of run dry easily. I mean, especially for those of us who don't live there and have never been there. Besides, anytime you make a thread about one state, someone's bound to end up talking about how awesome their own state is... Sorry, but it's just to be expected.

Megan, I love geography and I love hearing about different places, so a thread for each state would be fine with me. Then Chatterboxes can learn both the similarities and the differences compared to their own state or country. And it's fine if some of the threads are short. We have plenty of other long ones!

I agree, Cricket. I just meant that it's kind of hard to make a thread about one state without some people talking about their own. I love to travel and stuff, so I think it's interesting, too. :D

Oh, I see what you mean, but I think it's OK. Start with one state and see where the comments take you!

Mary W., Oregon isn't as rainy as it is windy. At least that's how it is here. And everything is absolutely wonderful here. We always have snow in the winter and it's quite warm in the summer.
