Chatterbox: Down to Earth
Situation
Situation
Listen, I won't show my name because you guys usually don't see me this mad. Ever. And it's kinda personal. But I have a close connection to those who are in Special Ed, which many people see odd. I don't know why, I just click with them. After all, I am a lot alike to those amazing kids.
Well, here's my problem. A good friend of mine is in special ed, and pathetic teachers decide it's okay to basically call him stupid behind his back. Long story short, I stand up for my friend all the time. Not just him, but other special ed kids in my school. Both students, teachers, and EVEN their own special ed assistant is mean to them, calls them stupid and annoying. I mean COME ON. Their assistant is someone they are supposed to trust and turn to for those situations, not be talked behind/mistreated by/laughed at/yelled at. So I stand up for all of those kids, having been in their situation once myself.
But what I want to know is why. Why and how can you be so mean to them? Special ed kids are humans too, and the best set of humans you'll ever meet at that. At times I want to yell/slap my teachers and those students across the face for being so heartless.
How can I make this treatment stop? Not just at my school, but for every special ed kid who is being bullied by peers and teachers. Thanks guys, you're the best.

Sorry for typos, and Admin, input would be liked if possible.

There is definetly something wrong with your school system. Maybe talk about it with your principal. If he isn't receptive, try your mayor. Or your state representative. You can't be at the only school in your state with this problem.
Anyone who might listen. Just contact them.
Also, if people you talk to aren't listening, start a boycott. Or a petition.
I'm not saying destroy the school's reputation. But letting people know is importent.

I appreciate your help, Ronan. Since nothing's been done about it, here's my idea: Start an article series produced in the school explaining what's going on, so I can open the eyes of the students. If they start noticing this, correcting their rudeness to the special ed kids, then hopefully the staff will follow too. I'll author it under a pseudonym like the Federalist Papers did. I hope that works...
The only thing is - this is a world-wide issue. It's going to take more than one person to fix this discrimination.

No, I think if placed in this position, I would try to destroy the school's reputation as much as possible. That's really not okay.

I agree, and I've tried to speak out against them. The principal is pathetic and does the same thing those teachers/kids do. The school itself is terrible, they break so many federal laws - it's much more than what I explained here.
The replies to your initial comment have been very good. Find someone, local if possible, who will help you call attention to the situation. It is not OK and should be remedied, especially if this is a public school.

Indeed, I agree with everything the CB has been saying. Along with the idea, I stated - writing anonymous articles for teachers, parents, and students to read - I will attempt to talk to one of our public figures. Whether that be my... principal *cringes* or the mayor. Like I said before, this won't slide so easily as long as I am around.
And yeah, it's a public school. That's the worst part.
(January 11, 2017 - 7:04 pm)
That's terrible, but are you saying that it would be not as bad if it were a private school? Because I can say that public schools are much more likely to do these stupid things from personal experience. And yeah, that is very bad and your school is a very bad school if it breaks all these federal laws!!!

Whoever you are, you are my new idol. I have always wanted to stand up for those kids, but I've always been too scared of my peers to do it. You have courage. I agree with what Ronan said. Just keep doing what you're doing, as well. I really hope things get better for all the Special Ed kids in the world...
Fleetfoot says 'fird'. She thinks that anyone that treats kids that way should be fired. *sigh* If only it were that simple...
(January 11, 2017 - 1:52 pm)
Thank you, Kestrel, if I gather enough courage myself, I might reveal later. But not now.
I agree with you and your Fleetfoot, they should be fired. We tried that numerous times but it's not so simple... No worries, I'll continue to stand up for them, and I hope other people take this example and do the same.
We'll start a revolution one of these days. The CB, together, we'll change the world. Honest

Yes, take action! Petition, boycott, even a protest! Anything!
(January 11, 2017 - 4:33 pm)
Thank you, Mei, I will. I will find someone to stop this AND I will create a series of articles showing the students AND their parents what has been going on. I am not going to let this slide so easily.

You and your friends could make posters, and leave them around the school. Also, have you told your parents about the issue?
(January 12, 2017 - 4:17 pm)
wow... I just saw this thread and I have got to say, THESE TEACHERS ARE JUST WRONG!!!
you should definitely get the word out. I suggest going to a news paper or something like that. It would get people's attention as well as giving the added bonus of getting the school in trouble.

I have a similar situation happening. My post should appear soon.

Angry friend, I am very impressed. It's awesome for you to stock up and be friends with special ed Kids. What I strongly recommend is get one or both of your parents to talk to the principal. Or you could go yourself. Tell the principal what is occurring, and tell them how much it can hurt these special ed Kids.
