HAPPINESS THREAD

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

HAPPINESS THREAD

HAPPINESS THREAD

So... We really need one of these, don't we? As Leafpool pointed out on her own thread, it's the holiday season currently, and we find ourselves in the midst of a war. That's okay, we all have our own opinions, and I knew such a topic that the war is on would come up at some point for us CBers. It's simply inevitable. BUT that is why we must all take a deep breath and put our eyes on a happier thought. So that is why I made you guys this Happiness Thread.

It's simple, just post pics or stories, comments, memories, anything you wish that has made you happy, or that you believe will make others happy. Let's keep this thread going for all the CBers in the future, too!

Remember:

Happiness can be found in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light." ~ Albus Dumbledore, The Prisoner of Azkaban.

Also as a note, happy holidays to all you CBers and Admins! I hope you all have had a wonderful 2016 year, and many more brilliant years to come.

Happiness and happy holidays to you too, Ashlee! ~Admins

I sat with my mom on the couch today, just sitting there happily, looking at our Christmas tree.

I love my family.

Agreed, family is an amazing gift. And speaking of Christmas trees, I sat looking at mine this morning too.

I love that quote too! Certain quotes always just bring up my mood.

Things That Make Me Happy

- Making cookies and getting flour on my nose

- Laughing until I can't breathe

- Hugs that say, I care about you

- Listening to Hamilton with my friends while assigning each person a part to sing and I usually get to be Burr so I always grab my friend Emma (who is probably Hamilton) and going, very dramatically, "Talk... less..." before my other buddies start yelling "YO YO YO WHAT TIME IS IT" a few bars too early and we all totally crack up

- Playing through that one complicated concerto without a single mistake

- When we're watching a movie during English and she grabs my hand and I suddenly become hyper-aware of everything and how can a person's skin be so soft and how is it so perfect, the way she smiles and her hair falls slightly into her eyes?

- When my friend Anya and I trade sweaters for a day, cashmere turtleneck for pink cats making silly faces

- Winning a soccer game and running off the field sweaty and exhausted and crazy exhilarated and hugging my teammates a million times each

- When we get to pick partners for a group project she grins all bright-eyed and cinnamon-sugar freckles and says, "Want to work with me?"

- Writing something I know is good

- Getting a lead in the school musical and knowing that I'll have to warm up harder if I want to hit all those high notes she sings and go to rehearsal every day until late, but not caring because dang, life is pretty great right now and I'm pretty great right now

- Hot chocolate with candy canes and marshmallows

- Trying to drink Sprite through Redvines with the top and bottoms bitten off

- Filling ice cream cones halfway with sprinkles and halfway with ice cream and walking around camp with my friends, and it's burning hot but we don't care because we have soft serve ice cream and a pool to get to

- Getting texts from my friends in Canada and Colorado complaining about the cold and looking out the window and it's Malibu and it's bright and sunny and I'm laughing my head off.

- When it's the last rehearsal before tech week and I suddenly realize I've not only memorized my own lines but the entire play

- Doodling on the edge of my paper in Science and my teacher coming over and telling me that I'm very talented and should enter something to the art show in January but right now work on that lab report, Abi.

- Finishing a drawing that I did well on

- Freaking out when Anya cuts her hair and dyes it blue but also giving her hugs and telling her she's amazing and super brave and cool

- Knowing that I'm the only one in the grade who got a perfect score on my personal narrative essay the first time around

- When she's upset about something, crying underneath the steps to the Science building, her eyes red but still beautiful and I'm the only one she tells and asks for a hug

- Going to Pride Club and planning our next LGBTQ+ rights demonstration while simultaniously tossing rainbow m&ms in the air and trying to catch them in my mouth

- My friends and I pooling together all the mini candy canes we've gotten from the teachers today and building a castle that falls over when Bridget accidentially blows on it

- When Ona accidentially steps on a water bottle and the bottom seam bursts and everyone gets drenched and is somewhere between being super mad and super amused

- Spending all of Calligraphy elective doing basically nothing but fangirling over Harry Potter and writing Albus Dumbledore quotes in calligraphy

- The Montana Holiday Walk, wrapped up in scarves, listening to carolers, buying holiday presents with my friends and trying every free sample in Sweet Lady Jane

- Bridget talking about how her uncle has an emu who likes blueberries and once wreaked havoc on a Malibu beach, and no one believes her until she pulls out her phone and shows a video of herself and her sister taking it for a walk and a bunch of passerby in the background running away screaming

- Walking on the Promenade and loving Santa Monica because it's not crowded but the place is so alive and busy and then spotting Barnes&Noble and getting excited because they have the Fantastic Beasts script book and dragging my non-Potterhead friend into the store to see how much it is

Wow, that's a lot, Abi! You're lucky to have such nice weather, where I live it is freezing with a ton of snow. You know, good and bad comes with that. Your Hamilton one sounds great, I do that with my friends and siblings too. But instead, we act movie or book scenes. We get wooden swords and everything, it's great.

I do that thing, too! Trying to drink pop through sour straws and stuff. (btw pop is what we call soda in my town)

This made me so happy, Abi. Thanks for sharing.
