Religon and Chocolate

Religon and Chocolate metaphors in reality

Has anyone else had chocolate banana? It's not really what this post is about, but it kinda started this post.

So, anyway, today I wanted a frozen banana with chocolate. I found a piece of gelt (Jewish chocolate coins) in the cabinet and used some of my Easter chocolate. And then I realize how weirdly metaphorically that is. I'm Jewish (see OTR's thread) and Christain, and the chocolate that I melted and mixed together is me. I'm having a bit of a conflict. Confirmation and bat miztvah are about now, and I don't know, it's kind of annoying. I go to church, not Temple- my dad, who's Jewish is against religon, so I won't get confirmed, or bat-mitzvahed, if that's a word.

So, this is a religon thread! What religon are you?

There parents let them? Wow. I'm not even allowed to draw on the bulletin during the sermon anymore. I'm a Reformed Christian, so it's sort of similar to Lutheran.

Yeah. It's so sad!!!

I'm not allowed to doodle on the bulletins anymore either. It's kinda good though, because I haven't been having any great ideas anymore.

CHO C!!!!!!!! You are Lutheran TOO!!!!!!! :D :D :D

I am Lutheran, and proud of it. I love my God and my faith. The Bible isn't boring-- not only does it give us the beautiful, redeeming, freeing truth of Christ, but it's also a good story-- the best ever written.  And another thing I like about it is that I'm actually apart of that story! :D

Well, that's my outlook. I would love to talk with anyone about it. See you all next Saturday!

(P.S: I like any kind of chocolate, except when they fill it with that sickening fruity stuff that makes your teeth ache) ;)

And Scylla:

We Lutherans don't think that it matters what you eat-- now that Christ is come, he has made all foods clean.

However, doing whatever you like all the time isn't actually freeing. That sounds counter-intuitive, but that's how it is. Think about it.  If you just "do whatever you want all the time", then you have no control over yourself.

We believe this is only one of the countless precious, beautiful, freeing things about the coming of Christ-- when you are given completely to God, He gives you back to yourself. And you aren't enslaved anymore. All that you've done wrong, all your darkest, most secret sins that haunt you no matter how much you pretend to yourself that they don't, all of them, are drowned and die with Christ on the Cross. That's the kind of God He is. And I am glad. I can't wait for Him to come back! :D

Admins: Please, what was offensive about what you removed from my last comment? Or did the quote need confirming? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to enter anything inapropriate or unprecedented :)

I don't remember to what you are referring so I can't say. It may have been that  you were presenting your interpretation as a fact.

I'm not sure of the, like, the biology of my religion, because my parents are divorced. My mother was born Methodist and my father is a convert to Judaism. Because Judaism is matrilineal, I'm technically not a real Jew (not that there's any criteria). But in beliefs, I'm an agnostic Jew; I'm unsure of the existence of God, but I'll do everything I can to make this world better than it was when I arrived. And on chocolate: I have no real preference for chocolate, but I'd choose dark chocolate if I were forced.

I'm Catholic going to get confirmed next year! And I  love dark chocolate. My philosophy is religion should be like chocolate: you believe in it and you love it and like chocolate it should always be important in your life.
