Leap Year

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Leap Year

Leap Year

Who else is excited for this? I am! I've been doing research on why it happens, and here's some of what I've figured out: The Earth actually takes 365.2442 days to orbit the Sun, and early people noticed that the stars were out of alignment because of that extra .2442 day. So they created an extra day for when there was enough "extra bits" to make a whoke day out of! Pretty cool, right? Feel free to share your thoughts, theories, and research on this astronomical phenomenon!

SO excited!!! What other day only comes once every 4 years??? IT'S A DAY THAT DOESN'T EVEN EXSIST FOR 3 OUT OF 4 YEARS!!! Who wouldn't be excited!!!

My still nameless CAPTCHA says orub. Like orb? Like a secret mystery orb??? How very mysterious...

Cool!

:D

I think I heard somewhere that 365.2442 is equal to 365 days, 5 hours, 47 minutes, 48 seconds . . .

I have a neighbor whose birthday is on a leap year, so he has only really had eleven birthdays (that's a really good book by Wendy Mass!), but he's  in his 40's!

I'd love to do something fun, but I've got school.

FUN FACT: The likeliness of being born on Leap Day is roughly 1/1,461.

FUN FACT II: In Greece, it is said that marrying on Leap Day is bad luck.

Here's mine! I did two. The first one is 'plants' because I really like plants and making things grow. The second one is 'arts and crafts' because I like stuff like that!
