Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Hey, y'all. I've

Hey, y'all. I've decided to start drifting back into the CB a little. I know, I've been one for all of 2 weeks, but it's harder to leave than you think. So, I need to know: do any of you homeschool in high school? I know Vida did, but does anyone else? I need a little info. I'm good in school for this year and next, but I will most likely have to go to a public high school, and I really don't want to. In high school, do you have to complete a certain amount of time, credits, or curriculum? I lie in MA. If anyone knows anything, it would be helpful. Thanks, bye.

I'm doing homeschool for high school. I just finished ninth grade. It's pretty easy, if you ask me. You just have to find the minimum required courses and credits to graduate for your state. Then you and your parents start making a plan for your four years of high school. Make a list of any courses you seem interested in, and any tests you need to take. Some hobbies can be counted as courses, too! For example, if you're taking piano lessons, you could add that on your transcript. Because I wrote a novel this year, my mom put "Novel Writing" as a course on my transcript. You can use any curriculum you want, as long as it suits your learning style.

You might want to Google more information about your particular state. You could even call the home school association for your area.

And just so you'll know, S.E., homeschooling will not prevent socialization!! You can find friends everywhere. My family has joined a homeschool support group, where we meet once a week and go on field trips, have picnics, learn a new skill, or just simply hang out.

You might need some more info, so I recommend these books:

1. College-Prep Homeschooling: Your Complete Guide to Homeschooling Through High School

2.  Home Learning Year By Year: How to Design a Homeschool Curriculum from Preschool Through High School

I hope this helps! I'm praying for you, S.E.

I'm going to private school this year and next, and then I'll be fourteen almost fifteen going into 9th grade. I figured out a way to homeschool that I can finish high school by the time I'm turning 16. If all works out, I can finish high school in a year and a half. I just hope my parents let me.

Some schools might allow you to be part-time. So you go to school for a few classes and then you come home for the rest. That is what they let us do here. I'm in eighth grade and next year I will probably do math and art at the public school.

Homeschooling is very fun! I have been homeschooled my entire life and I'm glad about that.

Two of my siblings homeschooled through high school and graduated. (Being part-time that is)
