Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Okay, I've decided

Okay, I've decided to tell you guys something: I'm Muslim. Now, I hope this doesn't change anyone's image about me. Lots of people think that Muslims are violent because of 9/11. But the truth is, I'm against what those Mulims did. They killed innocent people. Actually, what they did is against our religion. So not all Muslims are bad.

I'd like to talk a bit about Ramadan, which is right now. It's a holy month for us, because that's when the Koran was revealed. We fast from sunup to sundown, so we can feel how poor people feel, and appreciate food and water. When we break our fast, we eat a date and say a special prayer. After Ramadan is over, we have a big celebration called Eid.

If anyone has any questions about Islam or Muslims, I'd be happy to answer. Lots of people get the rong image of Muslims.

Of course that's not going to change anyone's opinion of you! At least, not mine.

Thanks, Everinne! It feels nice to know that not all people judge me by how I look. What religion do you believe in?

I'm Christian, though I've always been interested in the customs of other religions.

Do Christians fast? I'm fasting right now. It's hard, but when it's time break your fast, you feel the blessing of food.

Some Christians fast on Good Friday.

Besides fasting on Good Friday, we also fast on Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Throughout Lent, people of a certain age are asked to not eat meat on Fridays, although some people do that throughout the whole year.

Several of my friends are Muslim. Muslims are pretty cool, in my opinion.

And I'd never judge someone for their religion. My dad is Jewish, and he wears a yarmukle to school. Sometimes kids ask him if he's a Muslim, if he's going to kill them, etc. Those kids are idiots.

Besides, it's only Islamic extremists (such as the Taliban and the Boko Haram) that are actual terrorists.

I hope Ramadan goes well for you!

I agree with everybody. I would never judge somebody for their religion. It would never change my opinion of you.

Ruby and I care literally nothing for people's religion. Just believe whatever you want, it's cool.

How does fasting feel? I get hungry really easily, so I can't imagine going from sunup to sundown without food, especially in the summer. It's really cool that you're so devoted to your religion. I always think religions are fascinating.

Whenever I meet someone who is Muslim, I never think "9/11" or terrorists, so don't worry. Fun fact- Ruby didn't even have any idea of 9/11's existence until fifth grade. XD

I've mentioned this before, but my dad is Jewish. Jews have like, 7, fast days or something. I'm pretty sure my dad only fasts on Yom Kippur, though. Yom Kippur is "the day of atonement" and the reason they fast is so that they can think about what they've done over the past year, and sins they might have committed. My dad said that fasting is surprisingly easy. It makes it easier to be retrospective.

And I've gone without food for about a day several times. If you don't give your stomach anything at all to digest, it won't wake up. So if you ever fast, don't worry about getting hungry~.

Fasting isn't that hard. Before sunup, we wake up and have breakfast. When I'm fasting, I actually feel pretty good, because I'm more energized without food in my stomach.

My family are Unificationists. I don't really know how to explain this, so please just Google search.

We also celebrate Hanukkah for fun.

Warning note, don't believe everything you read. For fun, I've searched up some stuff, and I haven't the foggiest of ideas what they mean.

Have you ever noticed that Cricket has a lot of stories about Judaism but not that many about Islam or other religions? I wonder why.

We aim to present a wide variety of stories, Arianne, but we need to go with what's available, too.

But it's cool that we (Cricket & readers) can talk and learn about religion like this. It's a great step in the world, don't you think?

Hey that's cool.  It annoys me when people think all Muslim people are terrorists and vice versa. Just a reminder to those people: Hitler was Christian. That doesn't stop me from being a Christian.

Did you know the current Ms. Marvel is Muslim? She's pretty awesome. I so want to read some of those comic books  I like how her costume is modest. Most other superhero costumes for females are not.
