Glasses

Does anyone, including the Admins, wear glasses? I used to wear them only when I read, but when I went to the eye doctor today, she told me that I'm going to need them all the time now! I really, really, REALLY hate wearing glasses. For some reason, I feel embarrassed to wear them in public. Any suggestions on what to do?

I've worn glasses for at least ten years. I got used to them quickly. It was so nice to see things clearly instead of all blurry! You should be able to get used to them, too, and your friends will get used to seeing you that way. Look around you. There are people with glasses everywhere.

I've never been interested in trying contact lenses. I think it would be so much trouble to have to put them on and take them out. With glasses, just grab and go.

Take a fashionable friend or relative with you to help pick out the frames.

*deeep breath* I go to get my new lenses today. Hopefully I'll get used to the feeling of wearing glasses constantly. I'll let you know how it all turns out! :-)

Wellllll, I'm getting used to my glasses, but since they're technically just for seeing far away (although they help me see up close as well), my mom wants me to take them off during school. As a result, I usually just keep them off all day, even when I'm not in school, because I keep them on my desk, since that's where I kept my old reading glasses. So do you have any suggestions as to where I should keep my glasses, other than my desk, so that I'll remember to put them on?

Oooooh! What do they look like?

My advice is to take a small box with a lid and you can paint it neon yellow and write GLASSES on it. Keep them in there so that you can see the box easily, since it's so brightly colored and easy to spot.

Good luck!

They're purple with black streaks in them. They're really nice.

I actually have a brightly-colored glass case that I keep my glasses in, I just don't know where to put the glass case! Admin, I am open to any suggestions from you! Thank you all for your great and helpful advice! I now kinda like my glasses! At least, I like the results I get because of my glasses... ;P

I wear my glasses alll the time I'm awake. I just put them on the dresser when I go to bed and put them on when I get up. It may be harder to keep track of them if you don't need to wear them all the time, but only for reading or something. Then I'd just suggest you pick a place in your home where others won't disturb them and always put them in that place when you're not wearing them.

I would put the glasses (in a case, obviously) in your backpack, then during school if you need them you can get them and you usually know where your backpack is, for homework and such.

If you have a bedside table, put the case there so you can just pop them on when you wake up. Or if you don't have a bedside table, keep them with your jewelry or makeup, since they're just so fashionable! ;) But if you don't wear them all the time, just keep your case in your bag or purse. If you're at home, though, you can just keep them on all the time! Remember to keep them in a spot where you can easily see them. If you stuff them in your closet under a mountain of clothes, you'll never find them!

I've had glasses since I was six. I used to be embarrassed but I'm totally fine with it now, although I did get contacts a few months ago. Try on all the frames they have that interest you in the least. If you don't like them, see if you can look in another eye doctor's office/store. We had to shop around a bit last time to find frames I liked.

Pros of contacts: 1) Obviously if you feel uncomfortable with glasses, they should help, 2) you don't have to worry about breaking your glasses (but that's almost never an issue anyway).

Cons of contacts: 1) You have to put them in before you go someplace and you have to take them out before you go to bed (actually I'm only supposed to wear my contacts for 8 hours a day so I have to take them out before that) 2) I have to make sure to clean them in anticipation of going someplace. 3) You have to make sure to be super hygenic and all when handling the contacts so you don't get an eye infection (my eye docter scared me to death by warning me that I could lose my eye if I don't take good care of the contacts).

Dear Admin: It is actually easier to get the contacts out than to put them in, in my opinion (as long as your fingernails are short! ouch!).
