1. Medieval European-like: This is the setting of most fairy tales we know--kings, queens, knights, castles . . .
2. Original Fantasy Land: This is harder to do, because the land will be less familiar to readers--a land that's not like a real place or time period on Earth--but it can be lots of fun! Anything becomes possible, but we'd have to work all the harder at developing the world.
3. Classical World: How about a story in a fantasy Greece or Rome in the time of the gods, goddesses, and monsters like the Hydra, the Cyclops, or the Chimaera?
4. Not-So-Distant Past: What about a story in the era of carriages, lanterns, top hats, and maybe a dirigible or two?
5. Urban Fantasy: Would you like to see a story set in the modern world, but with fantasy elements?
6. Future: Maybe you enjoy future settings, when the world is a little or a lot different from the way it is today. If you choose this option, then try to decide on near future or far-distant future.
Others: Do you have a strong feeling about some other setting that isn't mentioned here? Let us hear about it!

Others: Maybe the setting can include a whole mirror world? Like reflections almost, and hard to tell apart. You can easily can trapped inside by some lost reflections wanting to go into the regular world by trading you to stay in the mirror world. Something like that, anyway.

My three favorites are:
1. Original Fantasy Lands. I dream of living in places like Middle Earth, Narnia, Never Land, etc.
2. Not-So-Distant-Past. I'm a history lover, and the idea that magic may have existed in hidden, sooty corners of a factory or in abandoned mansion sounds thrilling.
3. Medieval Europe. It is so often done, but it has that sense of bridging history, an actual place in time, and something fantastical.
The others not so much. I don't like Urban things, Rick Riordan kind of has the monopoly on Ancient worlds, and future is science fiction. A different realm from fantasy.

I would love original fantasy land, to sort of come up with the terrain and fauna and flora is one of favorie things about coming up with a story.

Really? I love world-building too!! Another part I enjoy about it is coming up with all sorts of culture aspects of different races and such. Have you made entries for any of that amazing fauna and flora on the Fantasy Dictionary yet??? :)

I really like all the fantasy settings, but my all-time favorite would be the "Original Fantasy World". I really like this setting because I'm really into worlds where nothing is normal (at least not to us) and dragons rage while sphinxes lurk in shadowy corners, ready to pounce. For me, living in a world like that would be awesome (although I wouldn't enjoy being a mid-day snack for a hungry dragon, lol). So, what'll be the next sidekick in town? I hope I find out soon!

Ha. I agree with you.

I would prefer Original Fantasy Land, because then you have a lot of freedom. Also, I'm not sure if we're allowed to ask questions, but is this Crowd Sorcery thing going to be in parts (like Part 1, Part 2)?

I love original fantasy worlds.

I would use: The original Fantasy land. It is way easier for me, for a weird reason.

I like the idea of the Original Fantasy Land...where everything is unpredictable and unique. I think maybe for this story a setting sort of like the Lord of the Rings could be fun...as in like using Medeival elements. I feel like a world where dragons, demons, and wizards live would be great for this tale. However, I think that if it was also sort of steampunk it could be REALLY COOL. Such as lots of buckles and leather in the fashion, and machines that churn violet smoke into the deep blue sky. Venders on the cobblestone streets selling wind-up toys for a drop of luck. And mysterious black-haired boys gliding through the streets, who may tell you their secret if the time is right.

I'm into the Medieval European-like. There should be small villages, cute cottages, dirt roads, and forests everywhere.

I really like options 1, 2, and 3.
(July 5, 2014 - 12:04 pm)
Oh, also 4.

Ummm... Wow! Appear antsy I love all six of the types!
As for Other here's a 7th type:
The world is in a thing you wouldn't expect people to live inside of. Like a volcano or, like First Light (Rebecca Stead), in a glacier. Or the biotin of a lake! Ordinary people in Odd Places
