Random question: How do you do the umlaut? I have tried using Alt + 0214, but it does not seem to work.

Do you hold down Alt while you press the numbers? And do you press the numbers in on the number pad instead of the row on top of the keys? Those are the two main things that makes the cool symbol-dom thing not work.
Also, if you want to troll the CB, there used to be threads on how to make lots of cool symbols in DtE or CaC.

Or on a Mac, you can press [option]+pretty much any key.
