Camp Cricket

Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

Camp Cricket

Camp Cricket

Remember when we used to daydream about a real-life Camp CB? Actually, I still do, but I just had an even better idea! It was inspired by Camp Nano.

Hosting a real life Chatterbox camp would probably be pretty expensive and hard to coordinate, not to mention the fact that we'd all most likely be grownups by the time it was created. So what if Cricket hosted something similar to Camp Nano? A virtual summer writing camp built to expand and improve one's writing skills?

I would totally go to that! There could be all sorts of different activities and competitions...anything!

All this is just a random idea I had at the grocery store. :P Any thoughts?

A small town in KY.

Love this idea, Mice! I would totally do it! And, OMG, if we could do a CBer meet up somewhere, that would be...just...AMAZING.

Small town in Central IL! It's cool because I live right in the middle of a triangle of three cities (St. Louis, Chicago, and Indianapolis) and they're all about the same driving distance away. So I have 3x the chance of concerts and events being within range of me.

Saunderstown, RI. Which I know nobody has ever heard of.

What if we had two gatherings: one on the west coast, one on the east coast, and then had a video chat with the other gathering?

Maybe! I don't think I would be able to go to one on the west coast, just because I don't think my parents would want to spend money and/or time to drive/fly me to the west coast. Besides, I don't want to fly.... Anyway, what do the Admins think about all this? I want to hear their thoughts.

We aren't allowed to let you share email addresses, exact locations, schools, or in any other way enable you to meet in person. It's fun to talk about, but we can't help out.

I don't know, guys... You might want to be a bit more careful revealing your location online. It's not that I don't trust y'all...it's that this website is technically accessable from anywhere on the internet, and everything we say can be read by anyone.

That said, it would be so cool if we could meet up in real life! I don't think it would be easy at all to arrange meeting spots that everyone could go to, let alone get to them, but it's still remotely possible. As for more virtual things, hmm... we could always exchange emails via NaNo, or do another Google Docs RP like the one Shadow Dragon made. The problem with Google Docs, though, is that once the document gets to be more than a few hundred pages, and there are tons of people constantly hopping on and off at the same time, most computers tend to crash while loading them up. I suppose we could just make a chat, and constantly delete the oldest parts of the chat when it gets to be too long.

Any other ideas?

I agree with the safety things...I live in a very small town, so that's why I didn't mention it by name.

About Google Docs... to share it with each other we would either need to share a link or our emails, neither of which are allowed by the Admins.

Is everyone on YWP? We could message each other there, and there's the option to edit or delete posts and DMs.

@Admins, do you know what happened to my post asking Jarvis about SD's Google Docs RP? You didn't delete it, did you?

Sorry, Leafpool, but as we stated earlier, we aren't allowed to let you share email addresses, exact locations, schools, or in any other way enable you to meet in person. That includes sharing Google Docs. We do encourage sharing NaNo WYP information, however, so that you can keep up with each others' writing!

Ack, am I going to be the only one left out of a CBer meetup? I don't know if my mom will let me use NaNo! I really have to get around to asking her but I kinda don't want to because I don't know what she'll say.
