Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

READ. EVERYONE.

READ. EVERYONE.

First of all, I only say any of this because I LOVE YOU GUYS.

I just saw what happened on the Evil AE War, and I am ashamed of you! Just because you are all RPing as "rude" AEs doesn't mean you should be, to put it bluntly, downright mean.

See, a little while ago I was mad because everyone copied my idea: to make a person that I could act like who was my polar opposite/insane. That was my AE, Masked Piester. She was the first true AE. BTW, the CB has deliberated and Masked Piester was definitely first, so don't try anything. A bunch of people copied me, and many of them started having about 3 AEs each.

I felt that Masked Piester had been discarded, and that the CB was in control of the AEs.

So I withdrew Masked Piester from the CB, saying she would not return.

There was backlash. I put her back in eventually (due to peer pressure), and the CB agreed that everyone having more than two AEs was TOO MUCH.

Eventually, I took a hiatus from the CB. I returned to find many new members, with all of them having AEs and many having more than two. I was hurt that no one had mentioned the "no  more than two AEs each" rule in my absence, but said nothing because everything seemed to be working well.

The crush war was even fun.

However, it is ALWAYS a bad idea to have a TWO-SIDED war. Once the CB had a "Ruler of the Chatterbox AE Contest" and it ended... badly.

So I have made a decision.

I am pulling both Baelfire and Masked Piester from the CB.

Until everyone promises to a) NEVER make another AE without first checking to see "how would this HELP the Chatterbox, not just myself" and B) NEVER START ANOTHER TWO-OR-THREE-OR-WHATEVER SIDED AE WAR, MP AND BAE ARE NOT COMING BACK.

UNDERSTAND?

Good.

I'm sorry for shouting, and I love you all.

A smol part of me wants to just slip away again. Or pull my AEs.

But I am a mature, responsible person when I want to be (ish). And I know not to run away from problems. I did that before. It doesn't work.

And now I, Somebody the Vibrant of the Electricity Realm, make this announcement.

Children.

Children.

Please.

Stay calm.

Brookeira and Co. are upset because AEs are becoming more and more fruit roll-ups... or dare I say, Mary Sues.

Brookeira and Co. are also upset because people won't stop arguing instead of talking things out maturely. Listen guys, YOU CAN TALK THINGS OUT!!!

Don't make the same mistakes that we made before.

Stop crying. Stop panicking. No one hates anyone. No one is stifling anyone else. Just review your alter egos and ask: What makes her/him different from the alter egoes before?

If you can't find anything, rework him/her.

Shifting is too proud to show hurt feelings. Volcano (now at least) has some sense of honor and will restrain herself when things go way too far. (Perhaps she has matured.)

Alter Egoes are fun, but they're like any character. They need flaws. They need personality layers. They don't need to be carbon copies of Masked.

Right now I see there are three types of Alter Ego-- Hyper, Nasty, and Shy. Maybe try something else if you want to make a new one.

And even if you do go with one of the three above, please don't let that be the ONLY thing about them. And now I begin the Sue rant.

Look, maybe this will apply to my past writing and AE use on the CB, but I'm trying to fix it. And spending time on other forums has only convinced me of this.

It's BORING to read about a character who is literally just a chronically shy mess. It's BORING to read about a character who's all HyPer hAppY fUn TaaaIIImes and no other personality. It's just plain infuriating to read about a character that's just "nyeh, nyeh, nyeh, you're so laem" and no development. Give us INTEREST. Give us internal conflict. Everyone has something they care about.

I'm sorry. I got upset toward the end. But then again, "The truth hurts for a little while. A lie hurts forever." And I will not tell white lies, even when they smooth over angry feelings, when they won't solve the core problem.

Fruity says zttu.

If we're talking about AEs now? Here's my two cents:

My first two AEs were Devil Owl and Saint Owl. I'll be honest-- I didn't develop them very well. I was a newbie and I didn't quite understand what AEs were. I wanted to join the AE RP, and so I made Saint and Dev to join it. Later, I decided Saint Owl was too violent and had to go. She wasn't a very good, well-developed AE anyway.

I started missing having two AEs, though. Dev is the kind of AE that needs another to have some slapstick or argueing with. But I didn't want another Saint, so I made a timid AE-- Feather. At the time, she wasn't very well-developed either-- just extremely crazy about grammar, very weak, and scared of everything. Dev was completely insane and liked beating people up.

But I started developing them. They really are parts of my personality. Dev I keep cooped up inside, for obvious reasons, but he is very seriously there. Feather is a more influential chunk; I just exaderrated it. Eventually, I realized she was seriously flat. Now she's kind of spunky, rather quick to argue, snappish, picky, a karate expert, but also sweet to most people. I think she's a lot more rounded than she used to be.

To be honest, Dev hasn't changed much. But I also think he's kind of different.

THANK YOU
!

(oh no, formatting again.)

If I was to explain why, I think I would probably offend someone, even though I wouldn't like to, so I'm not going to explain. But I think him and Feather together are a different sort of pair than a lot of other AEs, which makes him more round.

Great. We're just characters now? Unappreciated? Not real?
YEAH! FREEDOM OF SPEECH!

That has nothing to do with what we're talking about.

But, Brook, or MP is you pefer. . .

Have my AEs made someone laugh? Yes.

Made someone smile? Yes.

Improved the atmosphere of the CB? It may be a little extreme, and this may sound vain, but I think yes.

Were not created because you wanted an excuse to write a certain way? Yes.

Are not just one-dimensional copies of you? Yes.

Are well-developed? Yes.

I think this is a good guide to go by. I'd just suggest changing the "Improved the atmosphere of the CB" part. Maybe "Influenced the CB"? "Are an obvious addition to the CB"? Something like that, maybe.

Sorry, I'm rambling and this probably didn't help any. I'm going to stop now.

I think that the "improving" one is comepletely unfair. How can anyone's one AE "improve the atmosphere"? If we all listened to those rules, there would be literally no more AEs.

"Core problem"?

THERE IS NO PROBLEM!!!

And, also, I know I already made an apology, but I'm holding this back: When I ask how Hemin and Fudimo (or, if you prefer, me) were/was being mean, I feel you keep on giving general statements, like "Oh, it was mean". I feel like you can't really pinpoint any PARTICULAR statement, maybe because THERE IS NO PARTICULAR STATEMENT THAT WAS MEAN!!!

Does Lyra fit the question above?

Yes. She makes me laugh. In al honesty, she isn't fake. She is truly, me, the person I turn into when I get mad. But if she doesn't make you laugh, I don't blame you. I have a very sick and immature sense of humor.

~~~
you probably will all hate me, ban me, and shun me, but honestly there is NO NEED to be pulling ÆS from the CB! Yeah there is a dispute, but it is snowballing and everybody thinks "oh, I don't fit the criteria so I'm dead!"
NO.
I say NO.
This is all crazy drama made by ONE MISTAKE. Can't we just continue on like it never happened?  Can't we bring all the AEs who left back? Honestly this is becoming more than it needs to be. Straighten up, mates. I thought we where better than this!!!
Lyra: I agree, and it's not only because of Bae. It because this is wrong.
Maple: and I'm not trying to gather attention, this is BECOMEING ANOTHER WAR.
DO WE REALLY WANT THIS.
Think about it.
But I'm saying this, and even if it doesn't meet future rules.
IM NEVER PULLING LYRA OR ARAEL. Not for Bae, not for anybody else. It's for myself.
This is the last time I will say it.
STRAGTEN UP MATES. The War of the Creators is apon us.
And I'm not playing this time: if all this doesnt clear by July 5 I'm done. I WILL LEAVE THE CB.
FOREVER.
Made someone laugh?: Yes
Made someone smile?: Yes
Improved the atmosphere of the Chatterbox?: Honestly have any of the AEs? Look where we are RN...
Were not created because you wanted an excuse to write in a certain way? (Just because you want to write an annoying/vain/rude/whatever character does not mean you should make them a permanent AE): Lyra and Arael where never created, they where born with me. Call me insane. I don't care. Not anymore.
Are not just one-dimensional copies of me?: they are both loosely based off of me, but while Lyra is the black, Arael is te white, and I am only the greys in between.
Are well-developed?: yes. Everybody changes. And since I do, so will Lyra and Arael. And if that is developing and changing, I don't know what is.
YOU ALL BETTER BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES.
@Abigail: You don't have to get rid of any of your AEs! I'm sorry if I sounded harsh.
@Mei-Xue: Really? You are screaming at me? That won't help anything. Honestly, I thought that after Leeli approached you about being hurtful (although Leeli was insensitive in her wording) that you would be conscious of how you sounded.
Really, you sound mean and imperious whenever you say something like "Abigail, we can help you with personal problems, even though Esthelle doesn't think so" and "LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE (Brookeira)!!!!"
It is not rude to say "Abi, we can help with your personal problems" and "maybe we should talk in greater detail about this, Brooke."
And Mei, I don't want to sound mean, but I used to think you were nicer, but you've been very rude to multiple people.
I'm really sorry, and still think you're spunky, smart, and witty. Please just try to be very kind and sensitive; everyone has to work on it!
Okay, I apologize for that...
But notice how no one, (Brooke, Leeli, or otherwise,) can even pinpoint what exactly I made Hemin or Fudimo that was so rude...
@Brookeria:
I am aware that I do not have to. I was kind of worked up about the rule that was being created without my knowledge, so I pulled them. They'll be back, as soon as something is settled. It was also so that I could attempt to maintain a more neutral perspective on this, ahem, discussion. I think. . . I'd just rather have them sit on the sidelines for a bit while I decide some stuff.
Brook can't make the rules guys. If you have more than the AEs, she CANT STOP YOU. She's not an Adimin! Brook, I'm saying this once and nicely, please stop being a control freak, and please stop ordering us all round like your our puppet master. We don't have to listen to you, and you can't make the rules.
Calm down. Brook is not being a "puppet master". I think that some of Brook's criteria is a bit strict, but that doesn't mean you get to insult her. I understand that it's hard to be polite when you're fuming inside, but it can be done. Brook, you're awesome, but I think you need to find a slightly more diplomatic approach to this. Everyone, please try to take a step back, and keep this from turning into a "war".
I'm really, REALLY afraid to post on here because I'm afraid I'll say something wrong and hurt someone.
But I'm choosing my words carefully. I'll try.
Okay, my AE is a robotic humaoid named Nova. She's actually a character from a planned book, so I do have to develop her well.  She's smart, sarcastic, and prideful. Not so crazy. She is my only AE.
I don't use her to participate in wars much. I "bring her along" in ski lodges.
I agree with those rules Brookiera listed. But I'm not sure if she makes people laugh or not.
As for me, I will let out a maniacal laugh at almost anything.
Anyhow, I kinda agree with Brook about Mei.
I know nobody can be perfect, and I know that I'm usually accidentally a show-off and annoying, but ....
Also, I'm not a fan of "insulting" jokes. Like I hear people on TV and books do that to each other, and it's fine if it's done VERY lightly, but if it goes even the tiniest bit overbaord, I find it slightly mean, in an accidental way.
I'm VERY sensitive in that sense. I guess that's why I'm not crazy about the AE War.
Plus, it's okay to be newbie!!! I've been called that name on several occasions, but I learned that it's totally fine!
And Booksy! Of course you have friends here. I wanna be ur friend here!!!
Okay, I'm done. Watch me regret this later.
