Advice Anonymous

Hello. I am a CBer not revealing his/her name. My CB name is not Anonymouse. I know there is a CBer called Anonymous, so I added an e to be AnonyMOUSE. This is an advice thread. Want to complain? Rant? Ask advice about a problem in your life? Here is the place. Anyone can post a problem of theirs, and anyone can offer advice. I suggest you all use an alias name for this, though it is not required. Do not try to guess who others are. This is private. I will be Anonymouse.

Example:

CBer 1: My brother is violent. He punches me a lot. I'm scared of him. What should I do?

CBer 2: You should tell your parents or a counselor. They can help you.

CBer 3: I agree with CBer 2. You might also want to tell him how you feel.

Try to make the advice sympathetic and specific. Remember, you are writing to help somebody, not to make it interesting to read.

Some Suggestions for Aliases:

-Me

-Pretender

-Person With A Problem

-A Friend

-Puppy

School is wonderful. Only, it only goes to eighth grade. So high school will be as bad as kindergarten thru sixth was. Should I try homeschooling?

Would your parents agree? Check with them and explain your situation. It might be better if you explained a bit more here too, I'm not sure I understand the extent of your problem.

Oh, the many times I would love to be homeschooled! I really can't help you here. But. Never mind. Sorry. Wait. I think you should face school full in the face. Homeschooling isn't going to give you any less homework, if that's what you thought. If you don't want to actually go to school, then you may have a different problem. If you don't have any friends, then congratulations! Join the club. That probably wasn't helpful.

I don't want LESS homework, I want MORE homework. I need to  be intellectually challenged, but the school I go to now does that perfectly. It only goes to eighth grade.

(My alias is a synonym for alias.)

My school is great too! I went from Pre-K to 5th, top of elementary level, and now I'm demoted to sixth grade, lowest in middle school. But I'm not pining to get homeschooled. Changing like that isn't as bad as you'd think.

If you want to start homeschooling and talk to your parents about it, I'd reccomend you read the Teenage Liberation Handbook by Grace Llewelyn. There's a lot of good information in it about the different ways to homeschool or teach yourself, and about how to talk to your parents about it.
I saw that you mentioned wanting to be more challenged, too. Homeschooling/unschooling is often challengong and teaches you a lot if you do it in a way that works for you, but if you don't want to have to set your own goals and your own syllabus and everything, I guess just look into what high schools in your area would work for you? idk.

First off, Could you clarify your problem just a tad? But I'm Homeschooled, and I enjoy it. If you do homeschool for some reason, join a co-op group or homeschooll sportsteam. That's a good way to make friends and makes it much more fun. However, if you have plenty of friends at school, and if they're moving up to high school with you, I'd say go for it. Unless there's some problem with that.

I can't stop procrastinating on homework assignments, and seeing as I have a lot of homework these days, it's really coming back to bite me. How can I stop procrastinating?

Procrastinating: Well, it's hard. You could make a checklist for what you need to do, and go through it. Also, maybe if you give yourself set time to relax you won't want to do it during homework.

I have the same problem. Turn off all your electronic devices, or block major procrastination websites.

I would reccomend drinking coffee for focus, but maybe don't because it can make you jittery and hungry and maybe even procrastinate more bc you have more energy with which to do the procrastination.

Does anyone else have advice? bc I, too, have a huge procrastination problem.

I'd love to offer you insight on this, but really, I'm such a procrastinator it would sound ironic. But I find that if I have a lot of homework just on paper, I can push books and computers aside to work. If you have homework online, too, like I do, I suggest breaks, or just closing all other tabs. Those are my two strategies: I'll answer a few questions, maybe go on Cricket a bit, do a few more, work on some other homework project or a novel or something, do a few more, play piano... or you could just close all tabs except for the one that you have and just burst your way through it. It's a battle of the wills, and you have to win.

Dear Procrastinating,

I suggest doing your homework the second you get home so it forms a habit. Also, when doing your homework,r eward yourself. (Ex.Give yourself a bite of your snack for every two problems you do.) You can also make a schedule. Say it's Friday. You Have 9 vocabulary words. Do three on Friday, three on Saturday, and three on Sunday.

For the procrastinating thing, try doing homework for 20 minutes, relax for fifteen, homework for another twenty, homework for another fifteen, etc. If you use that strategy, I suggest using a timer to make sure you don't get off track with the relaxing part. Also, if you are doing your homework and your timer goes off but you want to keep going because you're almost done, it's your decision! I also try to get my homework done if I can in the car on the way home, so you could try bringing a notebook or something to use as a flat surface to do your homework on in the car/on the bus.

I hope this makes sense.

Okay, I am a geek (like the rest of you) and I can't tell if I am being bullied, and if so, if it's for being a geek. The girl (we go to gymnastics together) will tease me, and everyone else except for the girls in her group. She teases my sister because she thinks that she is an idiot when she's not! She is doing Pre-algebra in math, and is in third grade! The girl teases me relentlessly. She's like: "You should've seen your face when I pretended to jump on you while you were fixing your knee brace!" And she does this all the time! And I can't tell on her because I thought she was my friend!
