BRACES! I just

BRACES! I just got 'em today. I was wondering if any of you guys have 'em, too, and if you have any tips for me? Oh, and they're purple.

My dentist said  I might get braces in a year or so.  I hope I don't.  :(  I once had a retainer, so I have a feeling I am going to have braces, it's creepy.

I don't but a friend of mine just got 'em about a month ago, I could ask her about them if you want. :)

Both my brother and I have this horrid fear of shots, so even the thought of getting one in my mouth.... Ohhh...... AND, I got a filling on Monday, meaning I needed Novacane, or however you spell it.... It wasn't as bad as I had thought.... :):):) I need to get two more fillings in April.... :-\

I do need braces, though.... It does NOT sound fun.... :(:(:( AND I NEED MORE NOVACANE!!!! AHHH!!!!!! :):):)

So really, I have no tips for you! Sorry!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!! I am scared of novacane (and all other shots) too!! I have 6 fillings and I BRUSH MY TEETH a LOT!! Grrrr....... ;) When I was 6 I had to get 4 fillings and back then I didn't know that they gave you a shot to numb your mouth, so I wasn't scared. But then a couple months ago I had to get 2 more fillings and I finally figured out that they use a shot. I was more scared a couple months ago then I was when I was 6! The shot actually didn't hurt that much, though.

Yeah, I know!  The painlessness (???) sort of surprised me... :):) I'm glad I'm not the only one (besides Clay) with this horrid fear of shots!! :D:D:D

Oh, and, for some reason, I never lost my canine teeth!!! I have all of my other adult teeth (I think!) except for those two canines!!! It's so weird!!!! My dentist said (surprisingly) that he didn't want to pull them, so we have to wait until I lose them, for me to get braces. :):):)

I had them, and at first they hurt my teeth a lot, but that was just for the first day or two. You'll probably want to eat soft stuff the first couple days, like yougurt, ice cream, oatmeal, soup, and stuff like that.  Afterwards, you can eat pretty much anything you want (I know you've probably been told not to eat a ton of stuff, but it really does not make much of a difference). However, you should NOT bite into whole apples, pears, or any hard vegetable or fruit or something else that's hard to get your teeth into. I broke a bracket doing this. Carmel and really chewy candy takes some time to get out of your brackets also. And be VERY careful with you wires. They can pop out easily. When you brush your teeth, as well as brushing the normal way, also brush them with the toothbrush in the position so the brushes are facing the bottom of your mouth, kinda getting behind the braces. That's all I can think of now. Hope this helped!!!

Like Mary Jo said, they only hurt for the first few days. After that it's fine! (I just got my braces in January, and I had to get six teeth pulled)

I have braces! The first week I got them I could not chew a THING! I had mush everything with an imersion blender (gross) to be able to eat it! (Believe me, hot dogs look really weird like that!:)) I just got them tightened for the first time since, so they might get sore again. :(

When did you get braces, Candle? I got my braces tightened for the first time in February! Now I don't have to go back until May or something! YAY!

I got mine on in February! So you're a month ahead of me. You're lucky you don't have to go back till then! OK so this is my braces that are on the bottom. A piece of wire with a spring around it stretches from one of my molars to another 'cause the one underneath isn't big enough. But guess what: IT ALWAYS BREAKS!! So I have to go back almost once every two weeks 'cause it'll have popped out. :(

That's too bad! Does it hurt when they pop out? Ugh, I don't think braces are worth it! My teeth were straight enough, just crowding! UGH! (that's why I had to have 6 teeth pulled)

Mine are special heat sensitive wires, so when I eat something cold, they loosen, and the opposite for hot things.

Well, I had braces until last August. Then I got them off. YAY!

But one thing you need to do is brush your teeth REALLY WELL!

Say, like, if you get cavities, they have to take off your braces to do whatever thay do with cavities, then put the braces back on. Urgh! Good thing I never had to do that!

Oh, and when you are wearing rubber bands (like I did), don't forget to wear them! I did, and as a result I had braces for about half a year more than was predicted. Sad, huh?

*looks around*

*realizes that probably no one cares*

*goes away*
