Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Harry Potter-the Maurauders
So... This is...
So... This is my first RP, but I'd like to do one based around Snape and Lily, simply because i don't care for the aspect we see much in the books, and I really like Snape. I'd kind of like to do an alternate universe thing, if anyone wants to, but I'd be fine with just an RP based around their time at Hogwarts. I'd like a minimum of 3 people to start with, please!

Kyra—
A large man stood on the platform, waving a lantern bigger than my head. I could almost feel Lily jumping next to me. “Who’s that?”she exclaimed loudly.
I wanted to answer but the man cut me off. “First years, over ‘ere, please!” he called. My heart rushed in my ears. I was finally there; or almost there.
A group had already surrounded the big man. He was truly the biggest man I’d ever seen. He was plump with thick brown curly hair that seemed to puff out, some greasy clothes, giant hands and eyes that were surprisingly merry and soft.
“I am Rubeus Hagrid. Follow me.” His accent was strong, but I couldn’t pick out where it was from.
We followed the man down the platform. “He’s huge!” I heard Lily murmur.
“Is he a--?” Alex said from my other side.
“Giant.” I finished her sentence in awe.
“He’s too small for one,” Severus said from somewhere near Lily.
We walked in silence.
We came to a giant lake. Small wooden boats were tied to the shore. In the distance, a castle loomed brightly lit.
“Four to a boat! No pushin’ or shoving,” Hagrid yelled.
I started to follow Lily’s bouncing red hair when I was pushed to the side by some hand. I fell to the ground and scraped my hand against a sharp rock. I felt a slight burning in my hand and warm blood, too.
A hand reached out. Severus was standing above me. His eyes seemed softer than usual. I grabbed his hand. It was cool but his grip was tight. He pulled me to my feet.
“Thanks,” I mumbled.
“No problem.” He seemed a little embarrassed.
“Ah, Snivellus. So, you have a new girlfriend?”
Sev’s eyes turned cold and became dark.
“Leave him Sev!” I heard Lily call from the boat.
Severus didn’t listen. He turned around and punched the boy square in the face. The boy fell to the ground. He had messy black hair and his glasses seemed to be broken. “That’s,” Severus kicked some dust at the boy, “formy nose.”
“C’mon.” We walked to the boat where Lily and Alex were already seated and got in.

SEVERUS SNAPE****
We walk along the platform, nervously excited. Lily is walking like she has balloons attached to her feet; she bounces as she walks.
"Who's that?" she asks loudly. I turn around to see what she's talking about.
"Firs' years ove' 'ere, please!" a voice calls. A giant man appears out of the gloom, illuminated by a huge lantern. He has a big, bushy beard that could easily have birds or mice nesting in it, raggedy clothes, and soft, friendly-looking eyes that contradict his frightening looks. A bunch of kids had already surrounded him, and we make our way over to join them.
"My name is Rubeus Hagrid," he says in a loud, deep voice. He has a very strong Cockney accent. He must have grown up in London.
"Is he a..." Alex asks wonderingly.
"Giant." Kyra finishes for her. Trying to sound smart, I interrupt their conversation.
"He's too small for one."
We walk along a dirt path in silence, not daring to speak for fear that we will wake up and it will all be a dream. Soon, we come to a lake, shining in the last rays of sunlight filtering over a dark green forest. If we squint, we can just make out a castle in the distance, glowing as if lit by a thousand candles. (I apologize for the poetic-ness. I like to describe things.)
“Four to a boat! No pushin’ or shoving,” Hagrid yells at us.I almost make it to a boat with Lily when I turn around to make sure the shy ones don't get separated from us. Surprisingly, I already feel responsible for them. I see Alex getting into the boat with Lily, but I don't notice Kyra till I look at the ground. Potter shoved her down in his anxiety to be the first into a boat.
I walk over to Kyra and help her up.
"Thanks," she whispers to me.
"No problem," I reply, then look around for danger. I can feel Potter watching me.
“Ah, Snivellus. So, you have a new girlfriend?” And there he is. My sixth sense, arrogant.
“Leave him Sev!” Lily calls to me, but I pay her no mind. I have a score to settle with Potter.
I wheel around and stare at Potter for what feels like eternity. Then I haul off and punch him in the face. As if in slow motion, I see my fist connect with his nose, and hear it crunch. It hurts, but it's so satisfying. I broke his glasses as well.
I kick some dirt in his face. "That's for my nose," I say calmly and coldly.
“C’mon.” We walked to the boat where Lily and Alex were already seated and got in.
"Sev, why did you do that? If Hagrid had seen you fighting already, you could have gotten in trouble already!" That's Lily, always worrying about me. I do feel sorry for my impetuousness, though. Fighting before school even starts would look great on my record. Also, if Potter and I both go to the hospital wing at the same time, it will be very easy for the teachers to link our fights together. Maybe I'll skip the nurse.
As I was musing, the boats pushed off from the shore and we set sail over the lake. I sit nursing my knuckles by dipping them in the water, when all of a sudden, a tentacle grips my wrist. Thinking at first that it was just a piece of stray algae, I shake my wrist, until I notice the suckers.
"Oh, my GOSH, Sev! There's a tentacle on your arm!" cries Lily. I start scraping at it frantically, but it refuses to let go.
"Mister Hagrid! Mister Hagrid! Oh, please, come and help! There's a tentacle wrapped around his arm!" cries Lily, starting to get hysterical. She's had quite a day, and I think it's starting to get to her.
Hagrid's boat comes over and he waves a pink umbrella at the tentacle, which almost immediately lets go of my arm and sinks back into the depths.
"What were you doin', trailin' your hand in the water? There are monsters in 'ere, you know!" I keep quiet, not wanting to admit that I was cooling my aching hand in the water. He seems to get the hint, and heads back to the front of the group, simply shaking his head at me, and leaving me with a warning to be more careful.
Lily gives me a shaky hug, and we all settle down till we get to the opposite shore, disembark, and follow Hagrid into the castle.
As we mill around in the entrance hall, a strict-looking witch enters and calls us into the great hall where we are told to gather in front of the 4 long tables. A dirty old black hat sits on a stool in front of us. The strict witch, who introduces herself as Professor Mcgonnagall, picks up a list of names and starts calling them off in alphabetical order.
"Bennet, Elizabeth! (Sorry, I just couldn't resist. I<3 Pride and Prejudice!)
OK
@Elizabeth M.- You take the Sorting. Your character is the only one that doesn't have a pre-decided House. Good luck!
(July 7, 2011 - 9:03 pm)
So, Afton, I only wrote down my sorting part and then you can do yours, okay? And by the way, you're a girl, right?
Kyra-
A thin, tall, strict middle aged woman with a tight bun and a green sweeping robe showed us into a large candle-lit hall. All eyes were on us as we filed down the aisle. We stopped in front of a stool with an old tattered hat on it.
Professor Mcgonical held up a yellowed parchment and called, “Bennet, Elizabeth!” A girl with dark brown hair stepped up to the stool. Professor Mcgonical set the hat on her head.
Not even a moment had passed before it yelled: “Huffelpuff!” The girl bounced off the stool and ran over to a cheering table.
Alex came shortly after Elizabeth. The woman set the hat on her head. It didn’t even think (if you can say that of a hat)! “Ravenclaw!” it shouted loudly; more roaring cheers.
I watched more children run up to the platform and go to cheering tables. I started to get anxious about my house. What if I wasn’t in Ravenclaw like my siblings? [I know, I said one was in Gryffindor and one Ravenclaw, but I’ve decided to put both in Ravenclaw, if that’s okay!]
“Ethnighted, Kyra.” The hall was in silence. I walked up to the stool and quietly sat down. The hat was surprisingly heavy and it slid over my eyes.
Hmm… I heard it say. Ravenclaw, I see. Something is stopping me from that choice. I think I know… SLYTHERIN!
I almost fainted on the spot. Slytherin?! I wasn’t a Slytherin! There must have been a mistake. Prof. Mcgonical was egging me off the seat. I slowly walked over to the table. Everyone was dressed in black robes with a green lining. I sat down somewhere in the middle next to a large girl, but I didn’t care. I was already close to tears.
(July 8, 2011 - 8:26 am)
“Hufflepuff!” Elizabeth Bennet runs to the Hufflepuff table and sits down among her cheering housemates.
Alex comes soon after Elizabeth. The hat barely sits upon her head before calling "Ravenclaw!"
Those of us who haven't been Sorted yet stand silently and wait our turn.
“Ethnighted, Kyra.” The hall is strangely quiet. I wonder if the Ethnighteds are famous for something.
The hat seems about to speak, but is then silent for a while before calling in an oddly quiet voice, "Slytherin?" [the ? is implied in his tone of voice)
That's odd. Kyra didn't seem like a Slytherin, she seems more of the Ravenclaw type, like Alex. Ah well. At least Lily and I will be able to protect her this way. Alex isn't able to protect herself, let alone someone else.
"Evans, Lily!" calls Mcgonnagall. Please, please, let Lily be in Slytherin. Potter is waving at her from the Gryffindor table. They both were sorted earlier. If she is in Gryffiindor...No. I won't even think about that!
Lily walks up to the hat nervously and sits down on the stool. Mcgonnagall places the hat on her head. It sits for a while, till it calls out, "Gryffindor!" NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY???!!!???
I stand in stunned silence. When my name is called, I don't respond till she repeats it again. Why did Lily have to be in Gryffindor? My only hope is to be in it, with Lily, and, regretfully, with Potter and Black. Grrr!
I walk up to the stool and sit down in a trance.
Hmm, says a voice in my head. You seem an intelligent boy. Perhaps Ravenclaw? No, please not. Perhaps Gryffindor? No, most definitely not. You aren't noble, although you are loyal, in a way. I think Slytherin. No! Please not Slytherin. I want to be with Lily!
It's too late.
"Slytherin!"
(July 9, 2011 - 12:30 pm)
Severus' eyes light up in anger. He jumps up, which is quite a feat on a moving train, with a bleeding nose.
"Is there something wrong with her being a Muggle-born, Alexis?" he sneers. "Come on. Lily, let's get out of here. Better not let our presence soil
her." He holds his hand out to Lily. OH. I JUST HATE MYSELF. THINKING I COULD BE DIFFERENT!! STUPID IDIOT!! I HATE MYSELF!!
"Severus, I don't think she meant it like that. I think she was just embarrassed."
"L-lily's right *sniff*. I-I *sob* d-didn't say that." I can barely breathe through the pools of tears running down my cheeks and splashing onto my outfit. It's a miracle that I can get that out. "I th-thought this place would be
d-different!"
I had sat back up, but my next set of racking sobs throws me back onto the seat.
Lily glares at Severus.
"Apologize to Alex, Severus! She says she didn't mean that, so say you're sorry!" she adds when he doesn't start to talk.
"Fine. I'm sorry for snapping at you, Alexis. Apparently, there was a
misunderstanding." He sounds very cold as he says that, though. I don't think he means it. I try to take a breath and start to accept his faked apology.
"I-It's okay, Severus *sniff*." My sobs become more suppressed but I still feel horrible.
Just as I manage to stop crying and feeling sorry for myself, the compartment door opens and another girl about our age walks in.

@Amara- Yeah, that's great! My computer doesn't work well right now, but I'll post later. Severus is annoyed at me because I'm posting this with his name. "Poor you, Sev!" *sticks out tongue in an undignified way*
(July 10, 2011 - 8:28 pm)
So who should introduce me into the story? Let's do where you guys are talking about something, and come over and sit down near you guys, you kinda ignore me, then the post ends and I post, and in mine I start talking to you guys. If you guys don't like that, it's fine, just think of something else to introduce me. :)

Kyra-
Not much else happened on sorting night. Severus glumly sat next to me;sometimes looking at me; other times mumbling curses regarding Gryffindor. Iglimpsed at Lily over on the other side of the hall and she looked just asmiserable. Her eyes seemed to be directed on Severus, and she didn’t talk toanyone.
The hall slowly emptied, and we were led into the dungeons bytwo prefects. One a girl with dark blonde hair and grey eyes; and an overweightboy with black hair and blotchy red cheeks. His eyes seemed to watch us like ahawk’s.
Sev and I had a quiet parting. He went to the boys dorm; I tothe girl’s dorm. The only words we exchanged were: “Good Night.”
I took the bed nearest to the window, set my trunk down, dressed and found myself (despite the excitement) fast asleep.
The next morning, I couldn’t find Severus anywhere. I dressedin my fitted school uniform, pinned a strand of hair up and went downstairs.
I nervously walked through the dungeons, hoping not to loosemy way.
The Great Hall was half full when I walked in. I grabbed a fewpieces of bacon, some toast and spread it with jam.
I observed Severus and Lily walking down the hall in deepconversation. Lily looked up and waved at me with a half smile. She seemed tobe elsewhere. I returned the wave and went back to my breakfast.
“You just waved at a Gryffindor.”A voice said in front of me.
A boy with light brown hair and a slight mischievous gleam inhis eye stared at me in shock.
“Did I do something wrong?” I looked at him taken aback.
“Wrong? Slytherins don’t associate with scum.” He keptstaring at me as if it were obvious.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, my brother Robert told me, that if you want a goodname you shouldn’t associate with Gryffindors. It’s against the rules and itdefeats our pride.”
“Lily’s my friend…”
“Friend?”
“Yes, I met her on the train. She’s quite nice! The boy,Severus, is my friend, too. He’s in Slytherin.”
The boy whistled under his breath and said: “ Wow. He’s makingsuch a mistake right now.” He then went, to my relief, back to his breakfast. Ilooked at my plate of half unfinished food. Then I stood up and stomped off tothe oncoming Severus. Lily had gone over to her table (and with that also toPotter and Black).
“What’s wrong?” Severus must have noticed my annoyed look.
“That boy just called Lily scum.”
“Scum? SCUM! Whichone? I’ll punch his bloody brains out!” Severus coldly stared over to thedirection I had pointed.
I nervously stepped back at his remark. “He didn’t say thatdirectly. He called Gryffindor scum and then said it was a mistake to associatewith them… Why is that? There’s no rule is there?”
Severus opened his mouth to reply when a girl interjected him.
“Because. There’s no real rule, but Gryffindor and Slytherinhave been enemies since a while back… You are some odd balls to be talking withone of them, but who cares? There’s time for change!”
I said nothing. I was taller than the girl in front of us, butshe was obviously older. I guessed around thirteen or fourteen. Her hair hadbeen pulled back in a neat dark brown braid and her eyes sparkled kindly. Shehad light brown skin that seemed to glisten with smoothness in the sunlight. Icouldn’t help, but to be sort of envious over her beauty.
“Who are you?” Severus stubbornly inquired.
“Amara Vinnus, third year, Ravenclaw.”
[Your cue, Amara!]

Another random comment:
Amara is the second oldest of 5 kids. She has 1 older brother who is a 6th year, twin younger sisters that will be 1st years next year, and a little brother that is only 3 years old. Her father (a muggle) was killed in a horrible plane crash, so their mom (a witch) raised them.
(July 12, 2011 - 3:43 pm)
@Elizabeth M: OK! Sorry, I couldn't see your post until after I posted that random comment. :)
I'll start right where you left off, E.M.
Here goes....
*Amara*
"Amara Vinnus, Third Year, Ravenclaw," I told the two first years in front of me. The boy looked me up and down a few times, as if trying to determine whether a coat was worth the price asked.
The girl smiled a little, and said, "Hi. I'm Kyra." Then she nudged the boy with her elbow, and he narrowed his eyes at her a little before he said anything.
"Hi. I'm Severus," he mumbled.
"Stop associating with scum!" called a 4th-year Slytherin to Kyra and Severus. I flicked my wand slightly, and the 4th year's food exploded in her face. I smiled smugly as I put my wand away.
"Most Slytherins think they're better than everyone else," I told the 1st years. "Good luck not getting sucked in to their world," I said as I turned back to my own table to eat.
(July 12, 2011 - 4:37 pm)
Where is everyone????
(July 15, 2011 - 1:23 pm)
@ Amara- Sorry, I've been at a music camp, and haven't been able to post. I'll be able to post more later.
