Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Harry Potter-the Maurauders
So... This is...
So... This is my first RP, but I'd like to do one based around Snape and Lily, simply because i don't care for the aspect we see much in the books, and I really like Snape. I'd kind of like to do an alternate universe thing, if anyone wants to, but I'd be fine with just an RP based around their time at Hogwarts. I'd like a minimum of 3 people to start with, please!

Sure, I would love to have you in. What house do you want to be in? We don't have a huge plot, but we want to have it around Snape and Lily. We started at the train. We don't think there'll be anything huge, but maybe later there will be. Sorry Claire and I already started, but we'll stop untill you and the others post. Thank you soo much!

Thanks Afton for letting me join and welcome to Chatterbox! :) My house... Hmm... I guess I'll choose Ravenclaw. Yes, I guess...

Here I go!
Oh and can I be Gryffindor?
Kyra-
The train car jiggeled awfully as I walk down the hall. I couldn't even count all the full cabins I'd looked into already. I came to the end of the first car and took a look through one of the doors. Three students sat together in the cabin. A girl with blond hair had her nose stuck in a book while an oily black-haired boy and a light red-haired girl sat chatting quietly. I slowly pushed the door open.
"Um... Is this seat free?" I shyly pointed to the seat next to the blond girl. She didn't look up but the red-haired girl nodded gleefully saying: "Oh, yes! Take a seat."
I greatfully took a seat, then dropped my small shoulder bag down next to me and tried not to look at anyone in the cabin.
"What's your name?" the girl with red hair asked. I broke away from looking at my scuffed blue shoes. "Kyra Ethnighted," I told her in a whisper.
"I'm Lily and this is Sev. Well, actually, Severus Snape, but who really cares." Lily seemed like she would scream with joy and happiness at any moment.
"First year?" Severus, or Sev, let out his first words. The emotion in his voice was hard to detect while his dark eyes stared at me.
"Yes." My answer sounded cold and cruel. I immediately added, "And you?"
"First Year." His voice seemed just as cold as mine had been earlier.
I started to study my shoes, very interested.
"Which house do you think you'll be?" Lily asked.
"I don't know. My brother was in Ravenclaw but Nina was in Gryffindor so I can't say."
"Sev doesn't know either! I have no idea whatsoever! My parents are muggles, you see." Lily's elaborent green eyes startled me. I'd never heard someone state that so happily before.
"Pureblood?" There was Sev's short question again. After I thought about it, he must have been as timid as I. A soft spot opened in my heart.
"Yes, you, too?"
"No."
I didn't know how to go on so kept looking at my feet.

@ Elizabeth- I'm really sorry, but we have already started this RP. Could you have your character enter after this bit? I will write the very first part with your character, she won't say anything, I'll just have her walk in, OK?
SEVERUS SNAPE***
I can't believe that girl! what does she have against Muggle-borns? I'd bet just about anything that she is a pureblood.
"Is there something wrong with her being a Muggle-born, Alexis?" I sneer. "Come on. Lily, let's get out of here. Better not let our presence soil her." I hold my hand out to Lily, who seems to not be able to decide to come with me, or try to comfort Alexis, who has started crying on the seat.
"Severus, I don't think she meant it like that. I think she was just embarrassed." Oh, really. I think not.
"L-lily's right *sniff*. I-I *sob* d-didn't say that," she manages to get out through her tears. "I th-thought this place would be d-different!" Well, that's not cryptic at all, is it?
Alexis collapses on the seat sobbing and gasping. Really, you'd think I had just killed her pet or something. She's so emotional!
Lily glares at me.
"Apologise to Alex, Severus! She says she didn't mean that, so say you're sorry!" she adds when I hesitate.
"Fine. I'm sorry for snapping at you, Alexis. Apparently, there was a misunderstanding," I say tersley. I'm still not ready to forgive her yet, though.
"I-It's okay, Severus *sniff*." She keeps sobbing, just not as loudly. I start to feel bad about the way I was thinking earlier, as I can tell that she has had a tough day, what with Potter and Black torturing her. Maybe I should have let her explain before yelling at her.
Just as Alex starts to stop crying, the compartment door opens and another girl about our age walks in.
THERE! Elizabeth, you can continue from there. "Kyra, that's your cue!" calls Snape in a silly voice.

@ Orpheus/Allie- YAY!!! Anyway, your character is a little old to be a first year. Did he get held back before? What house are you in? Anyway, glad you posted!
(June 30, 2011 - 7:21 am)
Yeah, you're right, I guess so. I haven't read HP much and I probably just need to reread the entire thing. xD I actually was thinking to changing his age to 15 just for the heck of it, so he would be 5th year, am I right? And his house is Slytherin.
(June 30, 2011 - 11:58 am)
@Afton T.- Oh, forgive me! I should've looked at the post more carefully! Thanks for the cue, by the way! :)
I've decided to think about which house I'll be in. It'll be a surprise until the sorting.
Kyra-
I walked down the bouncing car, trying to find an empty compartment. By the looks of it, I would not have any luck. I came to the end of the train compartment. Two close doors waited for me to pick. I decided for the right one and walked it.
Three students, most likely my age, sat in the compartment. A girl with long light red-brown hair sat next to an oily haired, dark eyed boy with what looked like a torn piece of Daily Prophet on his nose.
Across from the two, a girl with red tear-stained eyes and blonde hair lay curled on the seat.
"Um... Is this seat free?" I shyly pointed to the seat next to the blond girl. She didn't look up but the red-haired girl nodded gleefully, saying: "Oh, yes! Take a seat."
I gratetfully took a seat, then dropped my small shoulder bag down next to me and tried not to look at anyone in the cabin.
"Sev thinks he’ll be in Slytherin and so will I, probably!” Lily's elaborate green eyes startled me. She didn’t seem like a Slytherin. Maybe a Griffyndor or Ravenclaw. Sev on the other hand seemed like a born Slytherin. He kept staring at me, holding his crumpled Daily Prophet scrap.
"Pureblood?" There was Sev's short question again. After I thought about it, he must have been as timid as I. A soft spot opened in my heart.
"Yes, you, too?"
"No."
I didn't know how to go on so kept looking at my feet.
[As you can see, I added some of my other post!]
(June 30, 2011 - 11:29 am)
@ Elizabeth YAY! I love it! I will write the next bit now!
SEVERUS SNAPE***
A shy-looking girl with red hair a little darker than Lily's walks into the compartment.
"Um... Is this seat free?" she askes in a quiet voice. Alex doesn't look up, but Lily, who gets more and more excited by the minute, answers for her.
"Oh yes! Take a seat!" She sits down and sets her bag next to her. She seems very shy; she's making an effort to not look at anyone. Lily, who will try to get to know anyone, tries to talk to her.
"What's your name?"
"Kyra Ethnighted," she whispers out. She really is shy. It's an effort for her to talk.
"I'm Lily, Alex is sitting next to you, and this is Sev. Well, actually, Severus Snape, but who really cares." Lily is going to explode in a few moments, I swear. She's gotten over her anger with me, definitely. After a nudge from Lily, I begin to speak.
"First year?" I ask coolly.
"Yes. And you?" she responds.
"First year."
"Which House do you think you'll be in?" adds Lily. I think I've had enough of this conversation. Hopefully, it will turn out better than last time.
"I don't know. My brother was in Ravenclaw but Nina was in Gryffindor so I can't say," Kyra replies.
"Sev thinks he’ll be in Slytherin and so will I, probably!” Lily almost yells, She really is excited. I'm glad. She seemed a bit depressed earlier. I think Petunia said something to upset her. Luckily, what Petunia thinks won't matter for a while.
Kyra seems surprised by Lily's answer. Of course, with Gryffindors in the family, she probably looks down on Slytherins, but still. I don't see why it is so weird for us to want to be in Slytherin.
I notice myself absent-mindedly staring at Kyra. I wonder if she is a pureblood. She has that undescribable air of having grown up with magic, and a lot of it. I don't know how, but I can almost always tell. I decide to just go ahead and ask her. No one ever won anything by being quiet and not asking questions.
"Pureblood?"
"Yes, you too?"
"No." She looks at her feet. Honestly, why did I get stuck with the two shyest purebloods in the entire first year?
Must go and find my time machine.
(June 30, 2011 - 2:06 pm)
All right, I'm gonna start now. :D))
I made my way as quietly as I could through the train, straightening my collar slightly with my hands. I hoped that I wasn't unintentionally glaring at people like my mother said I did. To prevent it I kept my eyes on the metal floor that was jerking with the movements of the train. Of course, a waitress just had to slam into me and pour scalding hot coffee on my shoulder accidentally. "Ah-w-watch where you're going, boy," she said, her plumpish face turning quite red in the effort of her flustered stammering. I only faced her and raised an eyebrow ever so slightly, and attemted a half-smile. I guessed I probably looked like and ill hyena. "Quite all right, ma'am," I reply in an uninterested voice. I ignored the painfully hot coffee running down my arm, and locked the waitress's eyes in a glare before ripping off the connection and scornfully walking to take my seat, feeling a little silly. I sat down silently by the window in an empty compartment across from where a boy with greasy, unkept black hair, a girl with red hair and frighteningly green eyes, and two more girls where sharing one. I shrank away lightly to the corner more and leaned an elbow on the window frame, staring out blearily. Like always, I had forgotten to sleep the previous night. I was too busy feeding my stupid owl Grizzy(short for Grizelda) who is apparently obsessed with ripping up my blankets... While I'm under them. Oh wow, thanks, Griz, I think sadistically, rapping my untrimmed fingernails on the window pane. I struggle not to fall asleep and stare hard at the bright scenery whizzing by the train, trying to stay awake.

Kyra-
It was evening.
A boy had walked in earlier and was now sitting at the window, sleeping and pretty unnoticed. Lily and Severus were deep in conversation, of which I didn’t know the subject and the blonde girl next to me had gotten up from her position on the seat to stick her nose in a book. I, Kyra Ethnighted, had no idea whatsoever of what I should do. No one seemed to notice me, not even happy little Lily. I suddenly got bored with my shoes, fumbled around in my bag and took out my wand.
My wand was made of a shining cherry, 11.6 inches long with a two or so centimeter diameter that got smaller towards the tip and the core was dragon heart string.
My mind whirled with the heap of spells I’d read about in my sister and brother’s books. After testing a few spells on a piece of paper, I decided to test my magic skills on objects in the compartment.
Somehow, my wand pointed at Severus’ face, by the time I noticed what I was doing, Severus’s face had puffed up like dough.
“What did you do?” he demanded, his voice full of pure anger.
“I didn’t-“ I bit my lip and gulped with inward embarrassment, fear and shame.
“You arrogant girl! Fix this!” he yelled at me through his puffed up lips.
“Now Sev. Don’t be mad. It was just a mistake.” Lily tried to calm the oily haired boy.
“Give me my wand, Lily!” Sev snatched the wand from Lily’s outstretched hand and pointed at his own face. He uttered an incantation and his face slowly went back to normal.
Severus then gave me an evil eye that still scares me. “People who can’t do magic shouldn’t play with magic wands,” were his only words to me.
I couldn’t think of a retort and even if I’d had one, I probably would’ve preferred to shrink into the seat. Tears slowly welled in m yeyes. Lily said something to Sev but I wasn’t listening; I was too ashamed.
The train soon chugged into the station. I grabbed my bag and stood up. I was about to walk out of the room when Lily called out, “Where are you going? Aren’t you coming with us?” I smiled and waited. Lily, Sev, the blonde girl (who Lily was calling Alex) and the long haired boy on the window sill were getting ready to leave the compartment.
We stepped out of the train and into the fresh air.
(July 1, 2011 - 10:17 am)
A strange boy walks in and sits in a corner of the seat, and quickly falls asleep. He's a few years older than us, maybe even a fifth year. We pay pretty much no notice to him, anyway. Lily is talking to me, but I'm dozing. I didn't get much sleep last night. My parents were fighting, and I was too excited to sleep, anyway. Kyra takes out her wand and starts waving it about. All of a sudden, my face is hot. I look up, and Kyra's wand is pointing at me, and she has a horrified expression on her face.
"What did you do?” I realize that I shouted this just after the fact. All my pent-up anger and frustration is spilling out of me.
“I didn’t--“ she bites her lip and stops.
“You arrogant girl! Fix this!” I'm trying to control myself, but it just keeps rolling out. Why can't I stop taking my anger out on people?
“Now Sev. Don’t be mad. It was just a mistake,” Lily says, trying to pacify me, but it's not working.
“Give me my wand, Lily!” I shout at her, and she meekly hands it to me. I snatch it from her grip and quickly stop the swelling.
“People who can’t do magic shouldn’t play with magic wands,” I say in an ice-cold voice. I'm not really angry with anyone but myself anymore; I'm cold because I don't want pity; I don't want to tell people why I'm angry, and so I'm quiet.
"Sev, what is up with you? I know you won't tell me, but I'm asking you anyway."
Lily doesn't try to talk to me anymore after that, though; she knows that I will tell her what's wrong soon enough, and that I will talk sooner if she doesn't try to force me to. I sit in a corner, feeling sorry for myself, and wishing I could take the last few hours baack and try again.
Kyra is crying; I seem to be good at making girls do that. A wrong word from me, said in a fit of anger, causes them to start crying. I wish they would just understand that I don't mean it. But only Lily does.
Soon, we pulled into the station. Kyra tries to take off as soon as the train stops, but Lily stops her.
"Where are you going? Aren't you coming with us?" she called after Kyra, who smiled and waited for us. Alex took the longest because she didn't realize that the train had stopped and was still reading. Happily, we all got off the train alive, and with no interaction with Potter and Black.

SEVERUS SNAPE***
We walk onto the station, clutching the things we deemed too important to leave for people to remove from the train. Alex has a large suitcase, probably full of books; Kyra has her wand and purse; Lily has her wand and a small journal her mother gave her before we left; and I have my wand and Lily.
"Firs' years over 'ere, please!" we hear somone call. We look around for the person calling us, and we see a giant man holding a lantern and waving at us.
Sry must listen to beatles now.
