I'll join! Should I post my character profile soon?

The Shadow Child series is about the future where the government is being fake and stupid people are only allowed to have 2 kids. If they have a third child, it gets, I guess (I'm not sure 'cause I've only read the first one), desposed of. It's stupid but ya. That's the main idea I guess. Anybody who's read more than one book can tell you more though.

Smart people can have more???  Wow.  That part about the disposing of third children, though is a bit like The Giver (if you haven't read that, you should).  And a smidgen like Ender's Game, but that's where thirds have to be comissioned like the government.  So the Shadow Children are Thirds?

Spammy says dtou.  He thinks I'll have to take some kind of detour.

@Oregano-- I highly reccomend it! It's one of my favorite series! I;m on the sixth book and for some reason I connect with Nina more (secondary character except in the third book) than anyone else... Oh well...

I'm so glad that all of you are joining! I think I'll make a character now.

OK, thanks!  I'll look for it the next time we're at the library, which will hopefully be this month :P... who wrote the books?

Name: Jessica Bauer

Age: 13 (for variety)

Appearance: tall, thick dark brown hair, green/gray eyes, glasses

Personality: moody, often angry and resentful, but (as you said) intelligent, when she doesn't let her feelings cloud her judgement and learning  (I know, I know, I just like to throw a curve - it makes things more interesting, and when the characters are very different, all the readers can connect with someone)

Family: Mom (Ruth), Dad (Will), sister (Julia), and sister (Janice).  Yes, the J's are their parents' little joke.

@Oregano: The rich and powerful people, AKA Barons, are allowed to have children. But normally they stay have to stay in hiding. Also, the police-things that kill/capture the Third children are called the Population Police. I think. Correct me if I'm wrong; I last read the series either one or two years ago...

Name: Mauve, goes by Janelle Rochester at Harlow's

Age: 13

Appearance: Short choppy black hair, sickeningly skinny, pale skin, grey eyes. Short for her age.

Personality: Sarcastic, smart, and nice to only a few select people.

Family: Was abandoned at birth.

Other: Attends Harlow's School for Girls, but runs away... (??) (If it's helpful to the RP)

Age: 12

Appearance: Long straight brown hair, tan skin, bright green eyes. Normal height for age.

Personality: Is very sweet and nice to people, but is still looking for true friends. She is very athletic, flexible, and strong for a girl. She is also smart.

Family: Family was captured by Population Police. She has no idea where there whereabouts are.

Other: Lives alone in the woods. She has built a little cottage and garden. Might have to leave at moments notice.

OK, in that case just to mix things up Jessica's parent(s?) is (are?) Baron(s?).  Do both parents have to be Barons and is Baron a rank that can be achieved through marriage, or do Barons have to marry each other?

Spammy says ioui.  Close, Spammy, you mean aeiou.

I'll join.

Name: Jezebel Pulman

Age: 15

Appearance: tall and slim with violet eyes and caramel colored hair

Family: Mother= Fee, a Baron

Father= Neal, one of the Population Police (therefore a Baron)

1st child of the family= Rose, 18

2nd child of the family= Kaylinn, 16

She got her name because, since she was an illegal third child, the family thought of her as evil.  They kept her though, because, it's a baron family.

You don't have to be a Baron(s) to have a Third Child. ;)

@Olive - No, I figured not, or there wouldn't be shadow children - but I like to make things interesting.  Jessica is allowed to exist.  Most of the others aren't.  She can maybe help them, or be cold to them at first but slowly become friends with them, or whatever.  It just mixes it up a bit.
