Yay!!!! I finally finished a book.

Finished: May 7th, 2011 9:50 P.M.

Now I have to wait another year for the third book. I think it's kind of funny that I will be in senior year in high school by the time the fifth book comes out.

Yes! Finished the whole Narnia series! I had to kind of quit for a few days because our friends stayed overnight, but I finished the last book this morning. Yay! I'm going to go pick out a new book. I'll tell you what it is later. :-)

Daddy-Long-Legs (by Jean Webster) and Yellow Star (by Jennifer Roy) are my latest books. I started Daddy-Long-Legs yesterday and finished today, and I started and finished Yellow Star today. Daddy-Long-Legs is about a girl who lived in an orphanage her whole life. She is sent to college by a trustee who is going to pay all her expenses. The trustee only asks that she write him a letter once a month, and that she does not know who he is. It's a really good book! It has 185 pages. Yellow Star is a non-fiction book about a girl who is one of the twelve Jewish children who survived WWII. It's more like a children's chapter book (its print is larger), but it still has 227 pages.

Yay! I've finished ten books so far! You all have been reading a whole lot, haven't you? Because there are a lot of posts so far!

I've got two more for you... wait, let me get them.

Book (Title and Author): The Romeo and Juliet Code by Phoebe Stone

Started: May 7, 2011

Finished: May 10, 2011

Pages: 300

This book is about a girl who is sent from England to Maine during World War II.  Her family acts really suspicious around her, though.   They won't tell her who the person hiding in his/her room is and act mad about her mother and father.  To top it all off, her uncle is getting coded letters from her parents and won't tell her what they're about!

Beautifully written.  The best thing I've read since Kingdom Keepers IV.  Definitely.

Book (Title and Author): Take Me With You by Carolyn Marsden

Started: May 10, 2010

Finished: May 11, 2010

Pages: 158

This book is about a girl who is half African-American and half Italian who lives with her beautiful best friend and other girls at an institue for girls who were abandoned during the war (World War II).  The girl thinks she will never be adopted, and her friend will; but then someone comes just to see her.

Short but sweet.  Keeps you guessing about who will be adopted first.

And now, I am reading another book.  It's one of those Dear Americas, except this one's about a newsie.

I'm testing this time thing:

5:24 Eastern Time

Book: Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Started: May 10th 2011

Finished: May 12th 2011

I don't know how many pages since I listened to it. I think it was about nine hours.

Oops, sorry I got a little bit behind on posting here. Here're my books I've read so far:

1. Heidi (the unabridged version) By Johanna Spyri (269 pages)

2. Grandpa's Box  By Starr Meade (280 pages)

3. Ruby Holler  By Sharon Creech (310 pages)

Have you ever read a book where it doesn't really end? Where there is an ending, but it doesn't really tell you what happens at the end? Where there seem like there are some loose threads that don't really finish? Where you don't find out half of what happens in the book? Where it seems like there should be more of the book or at least a sequel? Where the chapters are three or four pages long? Where it is a really good book, but just slightly annoying because you don't find out what happens at the end of it? That is what the book Ruby Holler is like. No offense to anyone who happens to really like this book, but I don't really like it. I mean, yes, it is a really good book with a good plot and characters, but it doesn't really finish the story. So if you like a good book, read this one. But if you don't like reading books where you don't find out what happens at the end of it, don't read this book or you will probably be pretty disappointed. I know that I was. Anyways, sorry about all my chattering. I just had to say all that to someone. :-)

I really like Sharon Creech but I didn't really get into that book either.  The plot wasn't really a good idea either.

I've got *counts* 4 more books for you guys.  I'm up to 8 (finished books) now.

Book (Title and Author): My Name Is America: The Journal of Finn Reardon: A Newsie by Susan Campbell Bartoletti

Started: May 11, 2011

Finished: May 12, 2011

Pages:156

It's really good.  But then again, I say that about every book.  It's about a newsie who wants to become a journalist.

Book (Title and Author): The Mysterious Case of the Albright Academy by Diane Stanley

Started: May 12, 2011

Finished:May 13, 2011

Pages: 258

Really good.  And this time, I definitely mean it.  This is about Franny, who gets accepted into Albright Academy because her sister wouldn't go withour her.  This is an academy for the best of the best.  While she's there her friend thinks she's acting definitely.  Her friends and her investigate to find out why everyone at the academy does this.

Book (Title and Author): Three Black Swans

Started: May 13, 2011

Finished: May 13, 2011

Pages: 276

This book is about a girl who decides to pretend she and her look-alike cousin are twins for a class project about hoaxes.  A video they take for it goes onto the internet, where everyone thinks they are really twins.  Ah-ma-zing!

Book (Title and Author): Luv Ya Bunches: A Flower Power Book by Lauren Myracle

Started: May 13, 2011

Finished: May 14, 2011

Pages: 335

This is about how these four girls are involved in a scheme about a missing bobble-head turtle. All their names are flowers (Katie-Rose, Yasaman, Violet, Camilla), hence the series title. It was good, but for a younger audience. (I borrowed it from my lil' sis.)

Now I'm reading Gone-Away Lake by Elizabeth Enright. It's really good even though I didn't think I'd like it.
