Your Hogwarts House?
Because I'm bored...
Because I'm bored and I like to procrastinate, I've been taking a bunch of Sorting Hat quizzes. I've been put into Hufflepuff twice and Ravenclaw once. I personally think that I'm either a Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. Mostly Hufflepuff. What house do you guys think you would be in if you were Sorted?

And Terry Boot, don't forget him.

Now that you mention him, I can't believe I forgot him even for an instant.
Was Morag Mcdougal a male Ravenclaw? I don't know ens gender or House (just that en is not from Gryffindor or Hufflepuff), but it's possible.
That's at least 3 male Ravenclaws just in HP's year. I can only think of 3 (possibly 4) Ravenclaws in HP's year off the top of my head (Mandy Brocklehurst, Padma, and Cho), so that's not much of a difference. Mandy wasn't described at all, and neither were any other Ravenclaw girls, but unless they're all pretty, too, that's only 3 beautiful girls we know of in the entire house, only 2 of which are in HP's year and only 2 of which boys are likely to be attracted to (Luna's own House members steal from because she's odd; they're not going to want to date her.). I wouldn't say it's too disproportionate. Maybe there are slightly more pretty girls in Ravenclaw than in the other Houses, but someone has to sometimes; the fact that it's Ravenclaw this time doesn't make much difference, in my opinion. Anyway, what about Gryffindor? Parvati is as pretty as Padma; Ginny is considered very pretty by HP, and I can't remember anything about Lavender's appearance, but she seems like the sort of girl who would make an effort to be pretty and probably succeed. Miss Moon isn't described at all, but even if she's ugly, there are at least as many attractive girls in Gryffindor as Ravenclaw. We just might not notice them as much because they're in HP's House, so we actually get to know their personalities. HP has no classes with Ravenclaws (which is something that bothers me; he has multiple classes with Slytherins but none with Ravenclaws? Why would Dumbledore do that?? Wait, maybe Gryffindors and Ravenclaws have Astronomy together. Never mind. Still, he has no classes with them that we get to see), so he (and by extension, we), don't get to know them well. All HP would really notice is their physical appearance, and as he is a teenage boy, it makes sense that he would notice those things in girls--or at the very least someone would as in the case of the Patil twins.
What I don't understand is how all the Slytherins and Hufflepuffs seem to be ugly except for the Malfoys.

Re: Ugly Slytherins: It is because of inbreeding. All the blood purists go to Slytherin in canon, remember?
"Malfoy" is a French sounding name, so I'd imagine the family is French in origin, and therefore has more genetic diversity than the average British pureblood family due to the fact that they left all their cousins in France. Which is why Draco doesn't bear a resemblance to a troll.
As to the Blacks and their "aristocratic good looks", well... Maybe they're just lucky? That's really the only explanation, especially for Sirius and Regulus, because their parents were second cousins.

Oh, right. I forgot. That makes sense.

No kidding?! I know somebody called Michael Corner!

@Elizabeth M.: You google Sorting Hat quiz. ;-)
Can't see Brynne's comment right now.

Or Harry Potter house quiz. Be warned, though, there are so many quizzes out there that many are unreliable. Some even put in questions like 'What's your favorite color?'. I'm careful only to take the quizzes that look accurate...

@Olive, Thanks!!

Re: Padma: Right. I was just tired of using the word "pretty" in every sentence. :P
Oh, I thought Anthony Goldstein was a Hufflepuff.

The Lex says he was a Ravenclaw. But are any of those three even remotely important?
Penelope Clearwater wasn't ugly either, was she?

Ooh. I just did a wand quiz. I got 11" Mahogany, Unicorn Hair. I likey quizzes. :-P Can't see ZNZ's comment right now.

I took a wand quiz just now, too. I don't think it was very good, but I got 12.5 inch yew and dragon hearstring. This worries me, as that's exactly the kind of wand I'd least like to have. I think I'll try again...
This time I got 10 and 1/2 inch, Cedar and Unicorn Hair. That's not good either, since I'm allergic to cedar, XD. You know what? I'm not doing any more of these. I'll decide for myself. I want a willow-wood wand with a phoenix-feather core, though unicorn hair would do as well. You know, I think I'd be much more likely to actually get unicorn hair, so I'll go with that. But if it comes to that, I don't think my wand would be willow-wood; it would be...um... I'm really not sure. What do you think?

RE: Pretty Girls in Gryffindor: I think Ginny is supposed to be pretty. I personally think Lavender is pretty but slightly too done up. Parvarti is pretty. Hermione is beautiful at least that's what I think...
(February 22, 2011 - 10:14 am)
Hermione is never described as beautiful or ugly or pretty except at the Yule Ball, where she's beautiful but doesn't look the way she usually does. I never imagined her as particularly pretty, but she could be. She wasn't described as ugly except by Pansy Parkinson, and Pansy hates her so much that it doesn't count; she'd say anything to annoy her. Anyway, in response to what ZNZ said about male Ravenclaws not being major characters, that's true, but how could HP have gotten to know them? Unless A) he met and got to know one on the train/in a shop or B) one of them was extremely interesting and he noticed them in a DA meeting or Quidditch match or something and became friends/enemies with them there, there really is no reason HP would talk to a Ravenclaw much except for romance, at least that we get to watch, as we don't get to see his class(es) (probably astronomy and perhaps something else; I don't remember any Hufflepuffs or Slytherins mentioned in, say, a Charms class--or Transfiguration, come to think of it) with them. What's strange is that no Hufflepuff is ever described as good-looking except for Cedric. I don't like that.
Aetc says euwu. ew. He thinks romance in general is disgusting.
