Chatterbox: Blab About Books

HP Quote Game
1 person posts...

1 person posts a quote from HP, and then we try to guess who said (if it's spoken) it where in which book. Whoever does picks the next quote.

"She laughed at my mustache!"

@Kat: Yaxley is spelled correctly, but Mrs. Cattermole has an e. And yes your guess was correct.

@Ima: Your first quote is Voldemort in the graveyard to his Death Eaters. Your second is Bertha Jorkins' shadow-ghost-thing to Harry during Priori Incantatum.

"Severus Snape?"

Mad-Eye. You know, when they hear his voice when they go into 12 Grimmauld Place in DH.

Make way for the heir of Slytherin, seriously evil wizard coming through...

And here I'd been hoping that the content of my first quote might throw suspecting people off--since when is Voldemort willing to embrace mortal life? But it didn't work. As it happened, he'd said that he was willing to embrace it again for the time being. So yes, Hannah and Wolfgirl were right. ZNZ's comment isn't up yet. From now on I'll have to stick to general, short quotes that could have been said by anyone. Or will I?...

"... Woe betide you ..."

Because I'm again using only part of a sentence to make things more difficult.

ZNZ's is a Weasley twin (based on personality, I'd say maybe... George?) about HP (as a joke) in CoS.

ZNZ's, I think, is both of the twins, about Harry Potter, is CoS. Ima's is Mrs. Weasley in the same book. The full sentence is: "And woe betide you if there is a single gnome in that garden when I come out to inspect it."

"HE DIDN'T DISAPPARATE! YOU CAN'T APPARATE OR DISAPPARATE INSIDE THIS CASTLE! THIS-HAS-SOMETHING-TO-DO-WITH-POTTER! OUT WITH IT, POTTER! WHAT DID YOU DO?!"

By the way, it wasn't Voldemort. Just telling you.

You're right!

I want to say that it's Snape trying to figure out how HP's head got into Hogsmeade, but I'm not sure. It doesn't really sound like him... Oh! Is it Filch, trying to convince someone (Lockhart, McGonagall, Snape, and Dumbledore, I think) that HP Petrified Mrs. Norris?

"DON'T CALL ME COWARD!" I think that's right; it was from memory, so I'm not entirely positive about it. Sorry if it's slightly incorect.

You all were right about mine, I'm not sure which twin it was though. H'm... was Wolfgirl's Snape? I know Ima's was -- from HBP. (And I love that line -- they should have had it in the movie.)

"What a lovely game, I don't think!"

Wolfgirl's is Snape in PoA, yelling at Harry who is in the hospital ward after the Time-Turner sequence because Snape thinks Harry must have had something to do with Sirius's last-minute getaway.

Ima's is also Snape, in HBP (again yelling at Harry!) in the showdown with the Death Eaters at the end of the book. I'm with ZNZ: I was disappointed that was cut in the movie. It would have been interesting to see/hear Snape scream at someone.

ZNZ's quote is Moaning Myrtle in CoS, after Ron has offended her by mentioning that a book shouldn't hurt you if you're dead.

"You have, by now, realized what it does?"

"Yeah, I want to play Quidditch!"

"People have died, Harry!"

In your first quote, Ron offered HP to play, and Hermione said something along the lines of, "Ron, Harry doesn't want to play Quidditch right now; he's tired; he's worried; he needs to get some rest!" in what I think was described as an I-don't-think-you're-being-very-sensitive voice. Other than that, though, I have no idea where it's from or what the situation is. I remember the oddest details sometimes... Could it be from HBP?

Your 2nd sounds like Hermione, but I don't actually recognize it, or the first.

'You're Harry Potter."

Yup!

Your first one is Dumbledore in PS, talking about the Mirror of Erised. The second one is Harry at the beginning of HBP. And the third... is it Hermione talking about the Triwizard tournament?

"Always." (That's a sweet one  -- it almost makes me cry when I read it.)

"It's been like that for a while now."

"You don't know what I'm capable of..."

Could the first one be... Snape to Dumbledore, maybe? About his doe Patronus, the same as Lily's? After Dumbledore said, "After all this time?"

Your 3rd is Narcissa to Bellatrix in HBP... Or is it? Aargh. I'm reaally starting to forget things; I really need to reread the books...
