The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games...

The Hunger Games is a really really great but scary teen distopian trilogy. If you have read it, this is the place to say what you think. If not, I recommend it for sure. If you're wondering what distopian means, it is a bad future of our world. Go look it up if you still don't get it.

Which is your favorite character aside from Katniss?  What do you think your chances would be of winning the games? Please comment.

Ooh Ima, that sounds so cool!

For those participating in the RP on the Inkwell, any ideas for the arena? I have a few ideas. But if you don't like them we don't have to use them.

Large factory-like thing. Like, gears and pipes and smoke everywhere.

Maybe a volcanic kinda thing. Lava, fire, rocks, cliffs, ash.

An arena made entirely out of mirrors and glass? Secret passageways everywhere? I'm trying to be original. Sigh.

Any suggestions?

Maybe a jungle... that would be nice. Trees, animals, water aplenty, but also a lot of danger... plus whatever the Game-makers decide to put us through.

Oops... just read Catching Fire, too much like the arena there. I am dying to post, so can we decide this thing already before I become so bored that I leave? Or did everyone go on vacation?????

Oh, I LOVE the HG trilogy. Leaf and I are eagerly counting down the days until Mockingjay! Personally, I love Peeta with a deep and fiery passion, but that's not only because I am a sucker for male love interests. (No, really. I swear. Stop looking at me like that!) Peeta just is SO much more than meets the eye, and that's what I love about him!

Oh, yay! Another poster!!! Can you help us decide what the arena will be in the other thread we're doing? Thank you in advance!!!!

PS: Spamboy says eezy. Making choices is NOT easy! How dare you say that?!?!?!

My other favorite character would be Peeta. In my opinion you don't really get to know Gale as much as Peeta. Though I still really like Gale! These books were really amazing. Although I didn't think all the context was appropriate. And it's a really hard book to explain to my mom. I mean what am I supposed tou tell her? It's a book where children kill each other in a game course plotted by a sinister capitol where everybody loves to watch the kids kill the other kids (Although it's self defense most of the time, I don't think that would matter to my mom). :P But anyway I cannot wait for the third book to come out. Man, Catching Fire really leaves you hanging. Though I have to say the end was an excellent twist! Which book do you guys like better? The first or the second?

oh, are they really making a movie out of it?

Yes, there really will be! I can't wait for it, but I'm also dreading it, because I'm afraid it'll just mutilate everything, like movies based on books have a tendency to do. We discussed that at the event I went to, which was actuallya Hunger Games-themed party rather than a reenactment/RPing event due to time issues.

I know what you mean about explaining. I was very worried that my mom would ask about it, as I was going to an entire event based on it. It certainly would've led to awkward conversation!

And I'm 43d on the waiting list for Catching Fire. That's annoying.

@❀ⒾℳǞ❄♬: The book is way too good to be ruined by a movie. I hope they get an actress that will be somewhat like Katniss. And unfortunately, my oldest sister asked me what the book was about, and I trying not to lie, told her the basics of it. And from then it was down hill as one question led to another. It was definitely an awkward conversation.

I can't wait for Mockingjay to come out. And since I am volunteering at the library I am going to see if I can somehow get on a early waiting list or something.

What do you guys think Katniss looks like? Do you like the picture of her on the website? I like her eyes in the picture.

Hm... I liked Katniss's eyes, too, but the rest of her seemed too young and round and pale for the way I pictured her. Peeta, on the other hand, was too square and red-faced, although I did like his eyes as well.

I love the volcano idea. That would be exciting. If no one else has an idea, go with that.

HI!

My favourite charachter? I dunno, I like Clove; she is evil.

I read Mockingjay, it had a weird ending, but whatever. The Hanging Tree is a sad song.

This is one of my all-time favorite series!  I normally stick to posting on Inkwell, but I saw this thread and had to say something.  I've read all three and am now a little shell-shocked after the ending (don't worry--I won't spoil anything).  My favorite character other than Katniss (who rocks) is probably... either Haymitch or Prim.  Although Peeta is really great with how devoted he is to Katniss.  Mockingjay was awesome though and I hope the rest of you can read it soon!

Oh! I read up to the fifth chapter of HG (I read it at Chapters, don't blame me for the small amount!). When my mom saw the book, she told me she was going to get it for me on Christmas (the 2009 one) but that I wasn't really interested. I don't remember saying such a thing! Now I'm, in the forties for the hold list of Hunger Games. It's so annoying! I wish Christmas would come around already so my parents will buy me the boxed trilogy.

My teacher also has it, and Catching Fire, in her class library. But some guy is hogging both books, but I think he's almost finished. I asked to read it after him, but he probably forgot. I'll ask again.

Fav charrie. I'd say Prim or Gale. But I'm only on the fifth chapter, so, yeah... And, um, here's something you shouldn't do. No matter what happens, do not search, "Gale" or "Peeta" on Wikipedia. It tells you who ends up with Katniss. I seriously regret doing that. *cries* I'm listening to a Hunger Games Overture right now on a fan site. Oh, and they're making a movie. Chloe Moretz might play Katniss, and Abigail Breslin as Prim. (In my opinion, Breslin is too old to play Prim, and Chloe might get mistaken as Prim since she's only 13.) The movie will probably come out in 2012. Some people say 2011. We can always hope.

Oh, my chances of winning the Hunger Games would be about 1 out of 100. I'd kill in defense, and can run pretty fast if I feel like it, otherwise...

Oh, I read up to page 165. Next Saturday I might finish the book. I wish that Google books posted the pages 165+. *sighs* I really want to read the Hunger Games.
