The Hunger Games
The Hunger Games...

The Hunger Games is a really really great but scary teen distopian trilogy. If you have read it, this is the place to say what you think. If not, I recommend it for sure. If you're wondering what distopian means, it is a bad future of our world. Go look it up if you still don't get it.

Which is your favorite character aside from Katniss?  What do you think your chances would be of winning the games? Please comment.

I loved this book! I need to read Catching Fire!

Favorite character... Hm. I'm not sure, acutally.

My chances of winning the games would be about 0, probably.

Hi Sasha!  First, I wan't to say that Berkeley is really awesome, though that's really unrelated.  On a slightly more related path, I LOVE The Hunger Games!!!  Ally actually introduced my to this series (she posted to the other Hunger Games thread made by Katie).  I want to finish the book though, because I'm only about a little less than 1/2 into it.  I'll name my favorite charrie after that, because there might be some character development without me noticing.

I would totally lose the games.  I wouldn't be able to stand killing anyone, and I'd probably die of malnourishment or just some random tribute coming up and killing me.  Either way, I'd most definitely lose.

Nice thread!  I'll comment when I've read more.

Spamboy says, "Bedk."  Is he tired?  It sounds like he wants to go to bed...

Oh I adore this book! I need Catching Fire. My fav character was definitely Rue.

So do you like Gale or Peeta better? Personally, I think they are both girl names, but I think she will end up with Peeta, even though I favor Gale. Gale seems tougher, more suited for Katniss. And even though Peeta saved Katniss that one time, Katniss repaid that debt a million times over. And it's not like Gale had never done anything for Katniss. He helped her family when she was gone saving Peeta's butt.

Like you, I'm just as likely to win as you are. The thought of killing someone repulses me. To save my own life, I may be willing to to s with a bow and arrow, because I would at least be far away, and I wouldn't have to see it up close, but the problem with that is that I'm horrible at archery. It may take a while for anyone to find me, as I'm good at hiding & at moving without being detected, but eventually, if it got to the point where only one tribute was left... Well, eventually, they'd find me & I'd die. And if that person never did, I'd die anyway, because, really, who would give food to a tribute who doesn't kill? And of course, I'd know that, and have studied what edible plants & things were around there, but still... Unless the other tributes all kill each otherm & the last somehow manages to die of natural causes (or from a wound) very quickly, I could never win the Games. Ever.

Hi again! Gale is awesome. Poor Gale, in the mi-- oh wait, have you guys read catching fire too? Anyway, Gale is SO MUCH cooler than Peeta. Peeta is a softy and he knows NOTHING about nature. I feel bad for Katniss having to act in love with him. The capitol is evil!! President snow should be SHOT! Those Capitol people are creepy. Except Cinna. He's nice. Seems like he's pretty much the only one who understands Katniss. I would hate to be sent to the Hunger Games, no matter how much my family needed Tesserae.

I would soo lose the Games. And yes, I finished Catching Fire! I was so scared at the end when Gale says that last sentence! I never saw it coming! BTW, Gale rocks. Did you know they are making it a movie?

OK, so instead of blabbing about how our chances of winning the hunger games are 0, what do you say we do some hunger games RPing? Find the post on the inkwell. And don't post anything too gory or horrible so all your wonderful RPing is put on. Keep it fairly mild for a hunger games, OK? See you all there.

I like Rue because she is there and she meets the requirements to be my favorite character. At least most of them. I am very strict on these things. So, I am going to the RP right now! See ya!!

Yay!  Just got Catching Fire from the library today after waiting a super long time with it on hold.  *goes off to read*  I liked The Hunger Games, and according to Ally, Catching Fire is even better!!!

@Mango: I love Rue, too!  I have so much to add on her behalf, but I'm getting really anxious and I need to read Catching Fire right now!!  Sorry 'bout that. ;)

Oddly, I thought I commented here. Apparently not...? Was my comment deleted? I don't think it contained anything innappropriate. Ah well. I'll repost it and see what happens.

My library is hosting its own Hunger Games on the 10th! I can't wait!
