I recommend any book by Tamora Pierce. Trickster's Choice is a good one.

Also:

- The Lord of the Rings

- The Bartimaus (sorry if I spelled it wrong) Trilogy (has dark humor)

- The Prophecy of the Stones

- A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, and The Sweet Far Thing

Just a few of my favorites. :)

The Wizard, the Witch, and the Two Girls from Jersey, by Lisa... Papademetriou. (what a last name, huh?)

Also, The Prophecy of the Stones, by Flavia Bujor. Somebody "borrowed" my copy of that last year and never gave it back. I really just need to buy a new one. And she better hope she never sees me again, because I just might tackle her and demand it back!
