Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Ok, the different colored Fairy Books!!
I'm seriously obsessed with Fairy Tales, and recently discovered the amazing books of stories collected and revised by Andrew Lang. They are so great!!! So far I've only read The Green Fairy Book, but I have from the library The Blue Fairy Book, and plan to get all the rest as soon as possible!! I really wish I could buy the whole set, but as we all know, I really can't afford it. :P
Has anyone read these? They're really quite great, and I love to quote them!! My favorite quote is "Oh horror, she has no heart!" Heehee, isn't that divine?
So, PLEASE share with me your favorite fairy tales, or legends, or folk tales, or whatever, I'm always looking for new ones!!!!!
My personal favorite fairy tale is The Twelve Dancing Princesses, and I was very pleased to discover recently the book entitled: Princess of the Midnight Ball, a splendid rendition of said tale!!! But my favorite version of it for the illustrations is the one (illustrated) by Kinuko Craft. Wonderful!! In fact, this afternoon I received a poster from the book! It was on sale, and it's my favorite scene! I'm so happy. I'm going to frame it and put it in my cottage. (yes, I have my own cottage)
So, I really have to go because it's really late and my family is waiting for me, and I haven't brushed my teeth or put on my pjs, or flossed, or anything, so I simply must FLY! But I want you all to list your favs!!!!!!
And I will try to list all of the colors of the fairy books tomorrow, but if I don't, please don't hate me!! Love you!

Didja find it???

Oh, I love fairy tales. My fave fairy tale is East of the Sun and West of the Moon, a Norwegian story. I haven't read the colored fairy books yet.
It would take a long time to list my favorite fractured fairy tales (ugh, hate that term), but I love GCL, Shannon Hale, and Jessica Day George (the one who wrote Princess of the Midnight Ball). Just Ella, by MPH, is also good. I like Goose Chase, by Somebody (too lazy to look it up) Kindl. And Robin McKinley is AMAZING. (Among other things, she wrote the AMAZING book Beauty.) And...um...I should probably quit now.
SBC says mytf. My TF, I think. SBC has a TF. TF is what? Ten Frogs? SBC says, "My ten frogs!"?

I LOVE BEAUTY!!!! OH, it's the BEST version of Beauty and the Beast EVER!!!!!!!!! (I know, I said that already...) I haven't read Rose Daughter, have you????
East of the Sun and West of the moon is in some of the colored fairy books!!! I like that one. Wasn't there a similar story once in Cricket? I'm being too lazy to search through my huge amount of old Crickets..... :D
(Nice location. *giggle* Yes, I use parentheses a lot too) :D (is everyone going to tease me about that???) (don't we all make mistakes???) (sheesh)

I LOVE BEAUTY! That said...no, I haven't read Rose Daughter, but I read Spindle's End. Have you read that? It's about Sleeping Beauty. I've also read The Outlaws of Sherwood, a Robin Hood story. Beauty is probably the best I've read by her, though.

No, I haven't. But I want to!!! She's a great author!

Oh! I forgot!
When East Of The Sun And West Of The Moon was mentioned, I suddenly remembered that I've read a wonderful version of it. It's called East, by Edith Pattou. It's awesome! Or did I already mention it? I don't think so... Well, either way, it's great!
I'll look for Swan Maiden, then!
I'll look for Beauty, too!

Yay! *dances* I'll look up East!!

Really (about Liz Kessler)? I should try writing to an author. Of course, I'd have to decide who, first, but...
(February 12, 2010 - 9:04 pm)
Haha, yes, tough choice. Although, I've tried to write to one or two other authors, and none but her have answered. :)
