Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Worst Books Ever
Okay, so we...

Okay, so we all know books are cool, but sometimes they are just really really weird. Anybody know where I'm coming from?

(these are just opinions, remember)

1. A Wrinkle in Time series was just plain bad.

2. The City of Ember was good, did not fit my taste.

3. The Secret Order of the Gumm Street Girls (weirrdd)

4. So B. It  (not awful, but not very good, either)

5. Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer (gross)

6. Queste by Annie Sage- worst in the series

Comments?

Katie, I completely disagree with you about A Wrinkle in Time. The books in that series are some of my favorites! What was it that you didn't like? The only other book you mention that I've read is So B. It, which I thought was okay--not the very best, though.

Books I didn't like? Hmmm...one was Found, by Margaret Peterson Haddix. I like some of her other books, but in this one I just didn't understand what was going on.

Really? That was one of the only Margaret Peterson Haddix books I liked!

I love Found! And about everything by that author.

Brynne, have you read the sequel, Sent? I've ordered it, but it hasn't come. If you liked Found, but Sent is bad, I hope I disagree. I don't want to have just wasted 13 dollars.

A big reason I didn't like Found was that the girl who recommended it to me told me how it ended. I didn't know that that was what she had told me, so when I started reading it I was really confused because what I thought was supposed to happen wasn't happening. Does that make sense? Or am I confusing you? I do think, though, that if I read it now I would probably really enjoy it.

That makes sense...

MPH is one of those really creative authors where you just can't predict how the book will end. If you knew, it would probably be really confusing.

When I read, I usually just try to lose myself in the book and forget anything I know about it. It really helps in that kind of situation.

I really liked Found. I can kind of understand where Katie was coming from with the A Wrinkle In Time series though. I just didn't understand it.

Well, if you don't understand it, that probably is a reason not to like it...

I enjoyed Found and the first book in the Wrinkle in Time series.  Once the series moved on, however, it got a little too sci-fi for my taste.  Off the top of my head, books I didn't like were The Talking Earth, Tangerine, and the Chocolate War.

Really? I loved Tangerine!

I liked TTE, but I understand why a person wouldn't.

1. WHAT??? Erm, sorry, I just see anything bad about it! I thought it was awesome! Could you explain what exactly you didn't like? I'm curious.

2. I liked it, actually.

3. I liked it a lot, but I'm a weird person, and I like weird books. I will say that it was definitely the weirdest book I've ever read. I mean, honestly, giant talking potatoes? So, I thought it was great...

4. I liked it.

5. Never read it.

6. I'm actually going to read that soon. I have it checked out from the library. So, I'll tell you what I think of it. I loved the rest  of the series, though.

A book I didn't like (more later; I'll add 1 with each post)

The Tale Of Emily Windsnap: I know lots of people like it, and (at first I said nad! *loves the short story, "Nad Adn Dan Adn Quaffy" by DWJ*) some have gotten seriously offended when I say this, but I just don't like it. The characters seem flat, and the plot is nearly an exact copy of the Ingo series. A girl lives by the sea, her father is missing, she finds a Mer about her age, she begins to think he's with the Mer, she goes to find him, she discovers that the Kraken has woken from The Deep, she has to go fight it,etc, etc. And Ingo is much better. The characters are amazing, the writing is amazing...

Hahaha, well, I loved those books, so maybe I should read 'Ingo', (don't know what it is, though) because I might love it twice as much.  :)

So, I just put it on hold.  :)

I haven't read Ingo, but I enjoyed Emily Windsnap. It was very forgettable, though.

I thought The Tale of Emily Windsnap was cute, not one of my favorite books, I thought it sorta followed the theme of a kid dosen't know who they really are or something happend to them that they didn't know about, then they find out and all this other stuff happens to them (i.e. Harry Potter, Princess Diaries, Found, Percy Jackson, Inkheart,.........)
