Random Thoughts About Books
This is like...

This is like the random thoughts thread, but for books specifically! If you want to post random musings about your favorite book, long rants about the cliffhanging ending of the next book in your favorite series, amazement at the awesomeness of the last book you read, and so on, this is the thread for it! :)

(Iffy says <caffy>!! No Iffy you can't have any coffee the last time you had it you went wild with caffeine and did things which we do not mention)

I swear I'm not looking for gay subplots but I find them everywhere and thoroughly enjoy them.

Ok, I have a story for this. So I was in Little Mermaid this summer. And my friends and I came up with this full plot about Grimsby, a character in the play. He is like Prince Eric's guardian. And he kept saying things like "you just adore making my pulse race, don't you" to Prince Eric. And when Ariel thinks that she won't be able to kiss Prince Eric, Grimsby tells Ariel "we musn't wish for impossible things" and sighs. But the guy playing Grimsby couldn't figure out the right way to say it, so we might have been the only ones that thought about that.

All This Violence and Blood could prob be the title of one of those sensational fantasy books, and it would be ridiculously accurate~

Guys I had a philosophical thought. Are we all, by extension, characters in books??

Here's how it works: let's say you're reading a recently published novel in which the main character is listening to Taylor Swift. That means that within the world of the novel, Taylor Swift exists. That must mean that all her fans exist too, unless the author says otherwise. That means that if you're a Taylor fan you exist in that novel. Without even being mentioned, you've somehow managed to become a book character.

Conversely, every time you're writing something and you mention a real-life person or place, you're pulling in millions of people as unmentioned characters!

I love this thought.

and hey, if you have friends who are Taylor Swift fans, or really if you know Taylor Swift, then that means you basically exist in that world too!! I exist in the same world as Percy Jackson and co. Or, as there's London---I might even say our London---in the Chronicles of Narnia, I'm in the same world as like the magic rings and the wardrobe and everyone else (who is in our world, ofc, not Narnia or Archenland or stuff)!! ACK!!!! :DD

ofc, the time periods prob don't match up for Narnia, but still :)

i reread Wolf in White Van and it continues to be the best book ever. "No one in a movie can help themselves in any way."

I'm on the 10th book in the Ranger's Apprentice series and I love it. I'm surprised that there hasn't been much conversation about it. My favorite character is Halt, who acts as a mentor to the main character. He's smart, kind, and has a great sense of humor

Halt is also my favorite, but Tug is close behind him :D

Has anyone read Telephone of the Tree? I can't give away too much, but it's worth a read, definitely!
