I've read all
Chatterbox: Blab About Books
I've read all of the Harry Potter books and I love them so much! I have read hundreds of books and over the summer. I read a book every day, but the Harry Potter series by J.K.Rowling is by far my favorite. I love the way the characters develope and change throughout the novels. I also love all of the interesting names and creatures that flow from J.K.Rowling's imagination and into the book. When I read it, sometimes I cried, feeling the characters as if they were a part of me. Also when I read it, I felt as if I was in the story, where everyone was my friend and they all liked me for who I was, which doesn't always happen in real life. I love the books so much, I have memorized whole chapters and I can flip open to any page and go on a two-hour rant about it--(No, seriously, I timed myself and it was two hours and ten minutes!) I love the way everything fits together so smoothly and I love the way J.K. Rowling uses foreshadowing to a great wonder of all of her readers. I love them so much! Please read them if you haven't, and I am sure that you will fall in love with them the way I have! The movies are great represntors of the books as well; there are currently six movies out, and seven books, although they are making the seventh book into two movies becuase it is so long!

TNO, I think that you are wrong about Draco being told that muggle-borns were scum form his friends. As you can see in the books, Draco doesn't really have any friends, he really just has Crabbe and Goyle, and maybe a few other characters spring up here and there. As you know, Draco doesn't really treat Crabbe and Goyle like friends,he treats them more like low-life wizards or like his personal bodyguards than friends.

@Mary, I know not everyone can be good, i'm not saying they should. Draco is the character he is; his characteristics make him Draco. I am not suggesting he change, I just think that Draco is a slime ball. It is just my opinion, and I have a right to my opinion. Yes he had bad influences, but how they influenced him, in my opinion makes him a slime ball. I would think Harry a slime ball if he acted the way Draco did.
I don't care if you think that Draco is your hero. I have been giving reasons why I think he is a slime ball, not for you to think he is a slime ball too. I am just trying to explain my opinion, not to jump on you because you like him. I don't have a problem that's your opinion. No offense meant, I just wanted you to understand my opinion.
(January 17, 2010 - 11:08 pm)
The thing is, we're doing exactly what you're doing--expressing our own opinions--but you act like we're attacking you or something. We're not. We're just telling you why we don't think Draco is, as you put it, a slimeball, just like you're telling us why you think he is, yeah?
(January 18, 2010 - 2:04 pm)
@TNO
Who are you saying that to?
(January 18, 2010 - 6:46 pm)
Exactly, TNO (umlaut), thank you. And Elizabeth, I really don't think I'm "attacking" you or your opinions--- which you have every right to, and I respect, etc--- nor is Draco my hero. That would be... odd. He's too pathetic to be anyone's hero, but that's one reason I like him--- as a character he's so pitiful that you just have to feel sorry for him.
Also, I dunno if you've seen the movies, but Movie Draco (who is epic), Tom Felton, has also sort of shaped my opinions on Draco.
((*whimpers* aaaargh my hands hurt so much! *headdesk* I hate falling off my bike... *annoying whining*
...Sorry, I'm done.))

I never said Draco was your hero, i said, "i don't care if you think Draco is your hero." What I meant by that was I don't care if you - or any other person-- thinks Draco is their hero, I will still think he is a slime ball. I was not saying that Draco is your hero. I didn't think he was............. If you interperted that as that I thought Draco was your hero then I'm extreemly sorry. I did not intend to make it sound like that.
I have seen the movies and wish I hadn't ( it's not that there's anything wrong with the movie or anything to do with the movie). I watched the movies after I read the books (I still have not seen #5 all the way through) and they have sorta tainted my inage of Harry's world, little things like Buckbeak, Harry's scar in the side of his head..... before I read the book, whenever I thought of Harry Potter I saw the boy on the cover of my book almost crashing into an arch trying to get the snich. Now I see the actor who playes Harry Potter. My feelings have not changed towards the characters though. Movie Draco did not change my feelings towards Draco. I still thought he was a slime ball after the movie, but I can see how someone would like Draco more if they saw movie Draco. I mean they make him seem half decent, and pathetic neither of which he is (in my opinion). I mean they leave everything out- Draco luring Harry to duel at midnight, really trying to get him into trouble, and nearly did, if they (Harry, Ron , Hermione, and Nevile) haden't ducked into Fluffy's room to get away from Flich, or Draco pretending to be Ron's friend in front of Madame Pomfary and getting Ron's book with Charlie's letter that tells when they will pick up Norbert, then telling Prff. McGonagall that they will be going to the tower, getting them in trouble, and that is just the start of the things Draco has done. The movie Draco dosen't make me forget all the things that Draco has done.
I don't have a problem with you expressing your opinions, I just wanted you to know that I was not tring to convince you to think what I think, and wanted to make sure that you knew that, and no matter what I will forever think of Draco of a slimeball.

Caroline, actually TNO and I are keeping on topic; we are disscussing diffrent things in hp, but are using diffrent books to back up our answers :)

No one has written on this thread for a long time...... I'm having to resort to commenting on non Harry Potter threads! (Actually that is not entirely true, I comment on other books too, i just wanted you to pity me so we could resurrect this thread) so come on people of Earth and beyond, we need to get this thread going again.... I would even welcome a discussion about Voldemort and Bellatrix! (and that is very sad, because I HATE Voldemort and Bellatrix)
Pppllleeessee write on this thread again!
(February 2, 2010 - 9:11 pm)
I've said this about a million times already, but I'm ok with saying it again, I HATE BELLATRIX!!!!!!!!! Voldemort is pretty bad too, but the only difference is that without him, there woudn't really be any story. But other than that, I hate him like, just as bad as Bellatrix. But Helena Bonham Carter is really good at playing her. Bellatrix puts the "tricks" in Bellatrix. Ok, that was like, a really corny joke.
I'm not reading any Harry Potter book right now, but after I finish reading The Lightning Thief, then after I read the first book in Warriors series, then The Bridge to Terabithia, I want to read The Goblet of Fire. I've only read it 1 and 3/4 and then I had it read to me once, so that's not many times compared to the 1-3, which I read about four or five times.
Hey Admin, could you put this on the first thread? Sorry, I don't mean to rude.

Sorry, we don't know what you mean! We can't move posts around, if that's what you're asking...

Whoops. I don't know why I put it like that. I probably wasn't thinking. And what I meant was if you're able to put the thread on the front page or not. But now it is on the front page now, so it's all good.
(This is embarrassing)

Ohh! Don't be embarrassed at all! I'll try to make sure this gets to the front page. :)

Spoiler alert: I loathe Bridge to Teribithia. I mean, I like it but then out of no where Leslie dies. I think one of the rules of writing should be not to kill off one of your main charecters! And I mean, Leslie's death came out of nowhere. I'd be semi ok with it if she had died because of an illness, but illnesses you know about beforehand. But this, one chapter she was alive, the next she was dead. H'mmmm, what have I been reading??? Well in the last week I have read Matilda, Just Ella, Ella Enchanted, Escape to Witch Mountain, The Mysterious Benedict Society, Fairest, and The Hobbit.
(February 5, 2010 - 7:16 pm)
@Elizabeth: Whoa, whoa, whoa! Hang on a second, let me get this straight, you've read all those books in the last week?????
I finished The Lightning Thief, it was cool, but odd at the same time. Grover is so cool. Did you know they're making a movie out of the book? It's coming out on Friday! Now I'm reading Warriors: Into the Wild.

Hannah, before I answer your question, I think you should know that the people playing in Percy Jackson are like 19, and their characters are not in 6th grade, and they made Annabeth with brown hair! OK, now back to your question... Yes I did read all of those books in 1 week. The Mysterious Benedict Society did not make sense while I was reading it, but at the end I was all ooooo, That is what happend, but it was sorta a let down, Everyone said it was good, and I thought it would be good too, you ken, beeing 400 something pages and all, but it wasn't what I thought it was going to be... sorry you probably did not need to know my opinion on the book.... sorry.
(February 8, 2010 - 10:59 pm)
@Elizabeth: Yeah, the people in the commercials do look pretty old. So I guess they're not gonna pretend they're 12. How old is Grover gonna be??? He looks really tall! I imagined him to be, well, petite. Yeah, I saw in the commercials that Annabeth has brown hair. That's just not right! But I like the line in the commercials when she says to Percy: "I do have strong feelings about you. I just haven't decided if those feelings are positive or negative yet." It was funny. I think they are going to make Annabeth even ruder in movie than the book!
