Log your summer
Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Log your summer reading here
Let's log all the books, poems, graphic novels, articles, and etc. we read this summer. I know it is technically not summer just yet, but it is almost the end of the school year so why don't we start now!
This will be a great place to find things to read, and chat about the books you've read. You only have to put the title and the author of the book. Genre tags (i.e. sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction, no-fiction, etc.) can be helpful for someone trying to find a book to read in a certain genre, similar books can also be included, you opinion on the book (let's keep debates and disagreements polite), a book review, favorite excerpts/quotes from the book, and basically anything that seems related is welcome here!
Let's start this off with a quote:
"Be you writer or reader, it is very pleasant to run away in a book."
-- Jean Craaighead George
I look forward to seeing the books you run away in this year.

Yeah, I really enjoyed it! It's fun to find a book that's just really lighthearted and not serious at all.

I just read Who Was JFK
Author: Yona Z. McDonough
Genre: Biography, historical
Age range: Anyone, it isn't very long and is written plainly but I think anyone could enjoy it

I just finished reading the second book in the Shadow & Bone series, which I am making my way through slowly.
Title: Seige and Storm
Author: Leigh Bardugo
Genre: Fantasy
Age Range: It's YA, so 13+?
Review: I enjoyed it. It took me a while to get through though. I liked the first book in the series better but I am excited to read the last book next. Overall, I think it's just an average second book, important to the plot of series but nothing really special.f

I just finished The Death Cure, which is the third book in the maze runner series. I also forgot to log when I finished the second book (The Scorch Trials) a few days ago. The whole series was really good and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. It's marked as a young adult novel, but I think as long as you're 10 or 11 and up you could read it. It's pretty sad, though :(

I just finished Alex Rider books 11 and 12 and they were SO GOOD but now I'm overdosed on cliffhangers :P

The Secret Keepers by Trenton Lee Stewart. Mystery. 5 stars. I love this so much.
(June 12, 2021 - 11:43 am)
The Edge on the Sword, by Rebecca Tingle. Historical fiction. 4 stars.

>Take Back the Block by Chrystal D. Giles. A book about a boy whose neighborhood is being threatened by a development company, and how he and his friends fight it. Ages 8+. Funny and relatable, but it was a bit short so there wasn't enough time to build a ton of complexity.
>Maybe a Mermaid by Josephine Cameron. A girl and her mother go to a resort and there mAy be a mermaid lurking in the waters of the lake. Ages 8+. Quite good, funny, but not super diverse.
>A Kind of Paradise by Amy Rebecca Tan. A girl has to work at the library all summer as punishment for a big mistake she made at school, and meets a lot of fun people there. Ages 10+. Quite good.
And I probably read something else but I can't remember.
