This is where...

This is where you can write ANYTHING about Harry Potter. Like: Your fav character, and why. Your fav book from the series. Do you think so or so should have died.

I'll get a conversation starting if that's OK:

What do you do to show your Harry Potter spirit?

Also, if I believed what Voldemort said, I would think I was weak.

My favorites are mortal enemies. Isn't that interesting?:) Well, here they are: Snape and Sirius. And the funny thing is, my fav characters and me have names that start with "s"! Wow! I never noticed that before! Anyway, I had a change of heart with Snape sometime after I read the 1st book. I mean, who's heart WASN'T touched by the dramatic death scene they gave him?! I don't get why they kill all my favorite characters. And it's not just in Harry Potter. There's Warriors and Animorphs and who knows what else. I am constantly being plunged into a state of gloom. Sigh... if anyone reading this is an aspiring author, take pity on me please...

@ Mango: My heart actually didn't really touched by him dying. Actually at first I was like, Voldemort is SO evil! And then like, wait, this is Snape we're talking about, the man who killed Dumbledore! But then after Harry saw that memory I didn't know what to think. He loved Lily, hated James, James ended up marrying Lily, they both get killed, Harry lives, Snape hates him for it. Whoa, crazy life. But I thought Sirius's death scene was a bit more touching. It was so sad when Harry was like calling after him, and thinking what's taking him so long? And then Remus has to hold onto Harry so he doesn't run through the veil and has to tell him that he's gone, and dead. They did a good job with that part in the movie I thought. Two of my fav characters died too; Tonks and Remus. Them and Luna are my fav characters. I also like Neville, and Harry, and Ron (When he's not being a pain, and rude.)

If anyone is obsessed with Latin like me then you can go onto Wikipedia and choose the language Latin. And then you're able to type in words! I typed in luna, and it had a whole page about the moon in Latin!

Has anyone ever read The Philosopher's Stone? I'd recommend reading the actually British version, it appears that they changed a few things around for the American version. Besides the obvious lemon drop/sherbet lemon kind of things, I mean.

@ Brynne: I have only read The Sorcerer's Stone. But I'd like to read all of the British versions. When you put Wizarding Europe in Location, do you really mean you're in Europe?

@ Meadow: I read that you liked Bellatrix's name. Well if you don't already know, J.K.Rowling got the name from a Latin word, Bellatrix, which means woman warrior. It fits Bellatrix's personality perfectly I think. *Sigh* J.K.Rowling is such a complete genius. Oh, that reminds me, genius is another Latin word meaning, well, genius. That's sure easy to remember. *Pats Latin dictionary affectionately*

Bellatrix is also a name of a star, no, a constelation, actually a star, I think.  And Sirius is the same, a star or a constelation.  Draco is a constelation (love that name) and Scorpius (Draco Malfoys kids' name).

The star/constellation thing would appear to be a long-standing Black family tradition; Cygnus, Orion, Regulus, Arcturus, Andromeda (galaxy), Cassiopeia, Bellatrix, Sirius, Draco, Scorpius...

Bellatrix is a star in the constellation Orion; it also means "female warrior" in Latin.

Sirius is the Dog Star.

Draco is the constellation of the dragon... Scorpius of the scorpion...

Regulus means "the little king" and is the brightest star in the constellation Leo.

I knew that Sirius is the Dog Star, thanks to a movie with talking dogs that came from the star Sirius.  And I knew that draco meant dragon, because Ask magazine is a mind reader that knows I like the Harry Potter books.  And then I kind of guessed on scorpius, and I was right!  The others, well, I didn't really know about that!

Question: Do you like the name Draco or Harry better?

My answer: Draco.  Harry is kind of like Hairy, and I don't like that.  But my grandma doesn't like Draco because it sounds like Dracula.  I still don't understand why she doen't like tha name...

Sorry I haven't been able to post for a while. Anyway, I started reading them when I was 6 or 7. I read them myself, because my mom was currently reading A Wrinkle In Time to me. :)

Snape. So awesome. So, first he appears as this bad guy, who later saves Harry's life, then a possible Death Eater, until he kills Dumbledore. Then, we find out that he's actually a good guy, and that he was a spy for Dumbledore, who actually meant for him to kill him. There's really some depth to Snape.

No, I live in Iowa. But since the HP books are set in Wizarding Europe, and I didn't want to put "Hogwarts" since a lot of people have done that already, that's where I'm from on HP threads.

I, too, would like to read the whole sereis of British version, but my library only has Philosopher's Stone.

Draco means Dragon. I wonder if that factored in at all when she named him.

There are currently 11 Warriors threads, two Harry Potter threads, and two "other" threads out of the 15 threads displayed on the front page of the Blab About Books. Really shows what the popular interests are, doesn't it? :)

My favorite characters? The Weasley twins! I mean, duh! I also love Teddy and Snape.

I really don't think Fred had to die. I mean, where's the justice in all that?
