Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Another HP Roleplay?
Weeel, this is...
Weeel, this is the second time I've tried to make one, but now since the only one there is the next-generation, here goes:
I was thinking that we could do one around the time that Harry was born, and Voldemort was active, very much so. Maybe not at Hogwarts? So, one Firebolt goes to everyone who agrees to do one. /*bribes*/

Because no one has told me if Lily Evans, James Potter, or Snape are at Hogwarts, I will place them in 4th year. 2 times my chapter 1 has been erased, the 1st time by Mum, the 2 was my accident. So I am writing this on a typing program and will copy and paste this on Cricket later, so it won’t get erased for a 3d time! The first time I wrote this it was still not very good, the second time it had a bit more detail, but still wasn’t that good, so no guarantees on whether this will be good, half decent, not good, or immensely bad. So here it goes.
Elizabeth was standing on platform 9 ¾. She heard parents bidding her children good-bye, and a young girl saying “Gwenny, will you write to me?” Elizabeth smiled at this; she had had a similar question asked by Emily, her younger sister this morning. Emily had said: “Lissy, when you write, you will write won’t you? Will you tell me everything that happens? And, Lissy, will your letter come the way your letter did – by owl?”.
Elizabeth was the first person in her family to go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Her parents had been hesitant to let her go, and even went to the extent that they wrote to the headmaster to ask him what kind of school Hogwarts was. Luckily for Elizabeth, she had a neighbor, Mrs. Evans, who had a daughter in Hogwarts and had assured Mum and Dad that it was a fine school to go to and had taken her to Diagon Alley to buy her supplies. Mrs. Evans had also insisted on bringing her to platform 9 ¾ , though Mum had been hesitant, but Mrs. Evans had only said, “Elizabeth won’t be a bother at all. I always take Lily to the station, and there isn’t any reason that Elizabeth should not come too.”
Now Mrs. Evans was saying to her, “Elizabeth, the train is ready to go, you best find a compartment.” Though Elizabeth still had loads of questions to ask, she boarded the train and was walking down the corridor as the train lurched forward, she stumbled and continued looking for a compartment. She passed a compartment with the girl that had a little sister (supposing it was her little sister) had called her “Gwenny” with another girl whose hair color changed from yellow to bright pink in an instant. She found a compartment that was empty and looked outside and pulled out her potions book (She had already read all of her other school books) and turned to the first page. In the middle of chapter 3 two people walked in, a girl with wonderful green eyes, that she recognized as Mrs. Evans’ daughter, Lily, and a boy with a unpleasant expression on his face. “May we sit here? Lily inquired.” “You may,” Elizabeth replied.
After a chapter of uneasy silence Elizabeth spoke “You’re Lily Evans, Mrs. Evans’ daughte.” When Lily gave a puzzled look Elizabeth said, “I am your neighbor; your mum brought me here and took me to Diagon Alley.” Lily laughed, then said, “So you’re the famous Emily’s sister, ‘Lissy’, Emily is all that Petunia talks about, she said that Emily is ‘normal’ or as she puts it ‘Not like you and Emily’s crazy sister, Lissy’”. Elizabeth looked up from her book and said, “My name is Elizabeth” in a cold tone. Lily, some how not sensing her cold tone said bubbling with curiosity “Really, not Felicity? I thought ‘Lizzy’ was the nickname for Elizabeth.” Elizabeth said “It is, Charlie used to call me Lizzy to vex me, Emily tried to say it, but it came out Lissy, and everyone thought it was so cute that ickle Emmykinz tried to say Lizzy, so the name stuck, but now it is only my Dad , Emily, and on occasions Charlie, no one at school calls me Lissy anymore, after I almost broke Sam Philip’s leg in the 2d grade. I went to kick it, and his body was thrust back; some people from someplace called St. Michael’s or somthing like that took him. They said somthing about modifing memories, maybe that is why no one remembers anything about me hurting Sam except that he was in the hospital.” “ St. Mungoes” (note to every one reading this I know I spelt it wrong!) Lily said, then continued. “Was that your first magical sign?” Elizabeth thought awhile then answered, “No, when I was 5 Charlie pushed me out of the tree house and I was airborne for about 2 minutes, then when I came down, it was almost like I was floating.”. For the first time the boy with Lily spoke. “So are you the only ‘magical being’ or is Hogwarts to be cursed with another mudblood from your family?” Lily looked shocked. She said, “Sevres, watch your mouth!” Elizabeth replied “Lily, I am afraid your wee sister is to be disappointed, Emily has also shown signs of being magical.”
Then the door of their compartment slid open and a girl with a shiny badge with a P on it came in and said, “You’d best get on your robes, we will be there within a half an hour.”
OK how is it, give me feedback( if in fact anyone still reads this)

Oooooh, I like it, Elizabeth! But I noticed that you would start writing what one person was saying then when someone else started to speak you left it on the same line. And writing is easier to read if you go one line down to start someone eles's speaking part, if that makes sense.

That was weird, it duplicated my comment, does any one know why it does that?????????
(December 19, 2009 - 3:11 pm)
@Elizabeth: That's happened to me too. I think it was because I hadn't typed in the right code the Admins use for testing spam messages so I typed it in again the right way. But I don't know why it duplicated yours. I'll ask the admins:
Dear Admins, why do some people's comments and replies get duplicated?

Hmm, we usually delete duplicate comments, but sometimes they slip through! You probably just pressed the submit button twice...

Professor McGonagall led the 1st years to the great hall to be sorted. Elizabeth had butterflies in her stomach, not the normal little fluttering, the butterflies seemed to be moving upwards, as if they wanted her to throw up. The reason for the butterflies was simple: what if she was in Slitheren? There was Lily's friend that was in Slitheren, but he didn't seem to be a verry good person to associate with, and people said that most Slitheren pupils were like that. No, she didn't want to be in Slitheren, not at all, not at all. Maybe she would be put in Ravenclaw, Griffindor, or perhaps Hufflepuff; those would be ok. Lily was in Griffindor. It would be nice to know someone, but Lily had lots of friends; maybe she woulden't want Elizabeth to be friends with her..... Lily seemed pretty busy... She was talking to the boy with crazy black hair, and some others. Now Elizabeth was sure that Lily did not like her. McGonagall called a name, Kent, Gabrella. She was placed in Hufflepuff. Elizabeth was next. She felt dizzy; she did not know how she would get to the stool. McGonagall called out Liden, Elizabeth. Suddenly all the eyes in the room were watching her, and of course she was at the back of the crowd. Perfect, she thought, now they will have even more time for them to stare at her, and she was almost to the platform. She looked up at the teacher's table. One of the professors with a long beard winked at her. Thet must be a good sign, she thought. Elizabeth sat on the stool. She saw Lily. Lily was smiling and waving at her. Perhaps Lily did like her after all. It would be just fine to be in Griffindor with Lily, wonderfull actually. McGonagall put the hat on her head, and as she was doing so, whisperd to Elizabeth, "Are you feeling fine?" Elizabeth just nodded her head in reply. The sorting hat was placed on Elizabeth's head. It seemed to be puzzled. It kept repeating two house names under its breath.... Ravenclaw and Griffindor. After what seemed like forever, the hat made a decision. "Griffindor," it shouted. The whole hall clapped as Elizabeth went and took her place at the table. Lily leaned over to her and said, "Are you ok, you looked like you were going to faint!" The boy with black hair said, "Just do it now, if you have to, then you can let Evans stop worrying and let the rest of us eat!" Lily seemed rather angry at this comment and said with a snap in her voice, "Keep your thoughts to you self, Potter, and leave her be. I looked up a hex this summer to use on you if you don't keep off of Severes, but if you are going to be getting on Elizabeth, then I can practice it on you no , if you continue." Potter looked hurt by this, and he and his friends went off to find a new place at the Griffindor table
Have to go now, would write more, but can't write more late.

When Lily threatened to hex James it was supposed to say, "Then I can practice it on you now, if you continue." not what it said and at the bottom I meant to say later, not late.

Ok, I'm finally going to write chapter 6.
~~Chapter 6~~
Gwendalyn was piling books into a large bag. She yawned, stood up, brushed back her hair, and fastened the front of her black robes. Tonks and Amanda were doing the same, except Amanda was whistling a song that sounded off key. Gwen finished stuffing the books into her bag and sat on her bed waiting for the others to finish. Once they all had, the trio walked down to the common room. They opened the portrait hole and walked through. They headed towards the Great hall looking at the moving pictures on the walls. One was a portrait of a hag with her mouth opened wide, apparently singing an opera. In the back people were covering their ears. Amanda giggled at the sight of it.
Gwen, Amanda, and Tonks were sitting at the Hufflepuff table in the Great Hall eating breakfast. Gwen was eating eggs and toast, Tonks oatmeal, Amanda Owl Os cereal. Other students were scattered among the tables. Amanda pushed away her bowl after a while.
"So what class do we have first?" She asked.
Gwendalyn who had also finished eating, took out the schedule.
"mmmmmm, History of Magic."
"Oh how exciting!" Amanda said sarcastically, then rolled her eyes.
"Oh, and did I mention it's starting in five minutes?" Asked Gwen examining the chart again. She looked up. Amanda and Tonks were hurridly standing up and gathering their bags. Gwen did the same, stuffing the schedule back into her bag.
They arrived at Professor Binn's class right on the dot for they had been running all the way there like their lives had depended on it. They flopped into chairs in the back of the class clutching their sides and breathing heavily. Professor Binn floated through the black board in the front of the class.
"Welcome everyone to your first History class this year." He started in his boring monotone voice. He then took name call. " Now will you all take out your books." Everyone did. He started to lecture. Gwen sighed, but took notes as best she could.
After what felt like longer than just an hour Professor Binn glanced at a clock on the wall and stopped speaking.
"For homework this week," everybody seemed wide awake when he said this " Please do a two and a half foot report on the Salem witch trial." With that he floated back through the blackboard.
Everyone packed their books, parchment, quills and ink back into bags and filed out through the door.
"So what do we have next?"asked Tonks. Gwendalyn checked the chart once again.
"Transfiguration."
"Are you going to tell us we only have two minutes to get there?" Amanda asked jokingly.
Gwen smiled at her. "Nope. Only ten minutes." She said stuffing the schedule inside her bag. They headed off to the transfiguration class.

Sorry if it's a bit rusty, I haven't written on it for a while.

~~Chapter 7~~
Gwen, Tonks and Amanda were inside their house common room doing the homework they had been assigned that day. Gwendalyn was sitting on her knees at a low table. Tonks was lying on her stomach on a carpet. And Amanda was strewn across an armchair.
"Why did I choose ancient runes?" Exclaimed Amanda at once.
Tonks and Gwen looked up.
"I mean look at these symbols!" Amanda continued, moving her rune book down to show them. They moved closer to look. Gwen saw a symbol that looked like a capital "R" without the middle connecting to the vertical line. And then another that looked like a bow. And then several more. "And then I have to translate this" Amanda flipped to a different page that had two short sentences in English, "to ancient runes!" Then Amanda showed them her parchment that had a few groups of odd symbols that looked like a pretty bad representation of ancient runes. Gwen chuckled. Tonks let out a little spurt of laughter but then tried to cover it up with a cough. Amanda glared at them. "It's alot harder than it looks you know!"
"Stop complaining!" Gwen said forcefully. "I would rather have to do that than this!" And with that she thrust a piece of parchment with many circles inside eachother and little dots connected by lines to form images of animals, bugs and humans under Amanda's nose. Amanda shooed it away with the quill in her hand. Tonks was in divination with along with Gwen, so she was struggling with the same homework. Amanda wasn't in divination. Instead she had chosen ancient runes and muggle studies. Gwen had chosen muggle studies too, but Tonks had not. But they had all chosen to do care of magical creatures.
Gwen and Amanda kept going on between each other until Tonks shouted, "QUIET!" Amanda and Gwen stopped to look at her. "Shut it so we can finish our homework!" Then she went back to her position before, lying on her stomach, and continued on her homework. Amanda closed her mouth and settled back down in her chair. And Gwen sat back down at the low table. She felt embarrassed. Did Tonks think she was annoying or childish now for getting into a riot for something so stupid? Would she not want to be her friend anymore? Gwen went to sleep with these thoughts still swimming in her head.

~~Chapter 8~~
Gwen and Amanda met eachother in the common room.
"Do you want to switch classes now?" Amanda asked, not sounding like herself. "I'll take divination, and you will take ancient runes."
"Alright." agreed Gwen also not sounding like herself.
Gwen went to ancient runes, and Amanda divination. When Gwen got there the Professor didn't ask any questions about why Gwendalyn was there instead of Amanda. Gwen sat down and opened the ancient rune book. The Professor started to speak, but the words meant nothing. Some everyday words were mixed in with nonsense ones. Gwen tried to ignore them. Instead she started to read the page, but those words didn't mean anything either, then she realized that it was in ancient runes. She smiled to herself and read it anyway, the symbols were so pretty. The Professor turned around, his face was ugly and twisted. He started to chant and move his hands around in front of her face. Gwen shrieked. She could feel herself falling into his odd spell. She tried to run, but couldn't. Then all of a sudden she and the Professor were on top of a tall hill, a rushing river below them. The man was still chanting and doing the hand gestures. Then he stopped with the gestures and just chanted. Gwen felt her legs moving forward even though she didn't mean to. She was under the enchantment, she knew it, and the man was the one making her move forward. She was now inches away from the edge of the hill, if she fell she would die. There wasn't only water in the river, but sharp rocks and all manner of nasty creatures. One foot was in midair high above the water now. Then all of a sudden Amanda appeared out of nowhere.
"I knew this would happen." Said Amanda. "I forsaw it just now in the crystal ball in divination."
Then Gwen was falling, falling through the air.
Gwen sat up in bed breathing hard.
What an awful dream she thought to herself. She brushed her black hair away from her paler than normal face. Her hands felt funny. She poured some water from the pitcher into the porcelin bowl on the bedside table and gently splashed some onto her face then patted it dry with a towel that was under the table. She sighed.
It must be pretty early. She thought, for the sun was just rising above the mountains around the Black Lake. Gwen got up and dressed. She pulled on a thick coat and boots and walked down to the common room. She thought fresh air would do her some good.
She walked down corridors, past moving portraits (including the one of the opra singing hag) and slipped out into the breaking dawn.
Once outside, she strolled around the giant lawn, and along the edge of the forbidden forest.
She took deep breaths. Fresh air always made her feel better. She then walked nearer to the castle, she could smell eggs and bacon from the kitchens in the basement. Gwen began to feel better and decided to go back inside so as to eat breakfast.

Ok, I know this one may have been a bit boring with it just mostly being about Gwen. So. Yeah.
