Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Another HP Roleplay?
Weeel, this is...

Weeel, this is the second time I've tried to make one, but now since the only one there is the next-generation, here goes:

I was thinking that we could do one around the time that Harry was born, and Voldemort was active, very much so. Maybe not at Hogwarts? So, one Firebolt goes to everyone who agrees to do one. /*bribes*/

OK, here it goes. Please forgive me if my writing isn't excactly completely satisfying. I haven't done a roleplay for a while. My chapters may be a bit short.

~~Chapter 1~~

"Now be safe!" Gwendalyn's mother said for what felt like the fiftieth time.

"I know, I know. I have been going to Hogwarts for two years, and when have I ever gotten myself in unsafe situations?"

Gwendalyn smiled to herself, because she had gotten herself in some unforgettable moments more than once.

But anyway, if I'm going to be an auror someday I need the experience with sticky situations.

But Gwendalyn knew why her mother was wanting to make sure that she would be safe. There had been even more murders from the new dark wizard at large, Voldemort.

And of course those weird masked people who call themselves Death Eaters.

Her little sister, Ellieanna, who was eight and quite small, tugged on Gwendalyn's sleeve.

"Gwenny?"

"Yes?"

"Will you write to me?"

"Yes of course. You asked me that last time, and the time before that."

Ellieanna smiled. "Just making sure!"

"And me?" said her older sister, smiling and hugging Gwendalyn.

"Absolutely, Ellalouisa. And mum and dad of course," she said looking over at her mother, her father was at work.

"Now have you got your form to get into Hogsmeade?" her mother inquire.

"Yes, yes, I've got everything." She was now getting a bit annoyed. She couldn't wait much longer to get on the Hogwarts Express. This was her first year alone at Hogwarts.

"But I don't know how many trips to Hogsmeade there will be with everything going on," Ellalousia said.

"Oh, I hope they won't cancel many!" Gwen exclaimed. "This is my first time being able to go."

"Yes, well you never know with these things, her mother said. "But there's always a next year."

Gwendalyn rolled her eyes.

The train whistled.

"You better get on now," Gwen's mother warned.

Gwen gave everyone another round of hugs and farewells before jumping up onto the train.

She stood outside the door and waved until a man came over to close the door. Gwen reluctantly moved back and started walking down a hallway. The train lurched. They were off to Hogwarts.

Can you guys tell me how my writing is so I can improve it? Ok here goes chapter 2.

~~Chapter 2~~

Gwen walked down a hallway, looking into the compartments to see if her friend, Amanda, was there. Finally giving up, and praying that Amanda would find her instead, Gwen chose a random compartment to sit in. She opened the door and looked at who she would be sharing a compartment with. It was a girl with long, sleek, astounding golden hair. The girl looked up from her book as Gwen sat down. Gwen smiled smally.

"Hello," Gwen said as politely as she could.

"Hi," the girl replied.

"So, what are you reading?" Gwen asked.

"Just some potion book," the girl said casually.

Gwen thought it was a bit odd to be reading a school book instead of something more intresting. The girl must have seen the look on Gwen's face because she said quickly:

"I was bored."

"Ah," Gwen said nodding.

"What's your name?" Gwen asked.

The girl looked up quickly, her face turning slightly pink. She mumbled something that Gwen couldn't hear.

"What? Sorry I didn't catch that."

The girl took a deep breath. "Nymphadora Tonks." She looked quickly away. "But please call me Tonks, or Dora. My dad calls me Dora alot. But please, don't call me Nymphadora."

She gave a shudder as she said her true name.

"What's your name?" Tonks asked Gwen.

Gwen turned a pale shade of pink as Tonks had. "Gwendalyn Fidum. But I go by Gwen. My younger sister calls me Gwenny though." She couldn't believe she had just said that. Gwen turned a darker shade of pink.

They were quiet for a while. Gwen broke the silence.

"What house are you in?"

"Hufflepuff," replied Tonks simply.

"Me too! What year?"

"Third."

"Me too! Hey, I think I remember you being sorted. Yeah, I do."

They both smiled.

"I can't wait to go to Hogsmeade," said Tonks excitedly.

"Me neither!" My sister told me all sorts of things about it. Like Honeydukes sweet shop, and then theres the owelry with all kinds of owls organized for how quickly you want your letter to get there. And just, just, wow."

They both leaned back on the seat and had a dreamy look on their faces. Over the next hour or so, they kept talking about Hogsmeade, and Gwen kept giving the best descrptions of places her sister had told her about. And they kept trying to think of what Butterbeer would taste like excactly. A while later the food cart came round.

"Anything from the trolley?" the lady asked.

"Four pumpkin pasties please," Gwen said walking forward, digging in her pockets for some coins.

The lady handed her the pasties, and Gwen handed her the coins. She sat back down as Tonks stood up. She moved over to the trolley.

"Here," said Gwen handing Tonks two pumpking pasties.

Tonks smiled at her. "Thanks. One second," Tonks said walking out the door. "I'll be right back."

A little while later she came back with two packages of Bertie Bott's Every Flavored Beans. She handed one over to Gwen.

"Thanks!"

They both sat there eating their goodies, and talking about different Quidditch teams.

"The Holy Head Harpies, play pretty gruesome," said Gwen through a mouthful of pasty.

"Yeah," said Tonks. "They do."

Gwen finshed a pasty and moved to the Beans. She opened the package.

"Here it goes," she said closing her eyes and stuffing one into her mouth.

"What is it?" Tonks asked. "What flavor is it?"

"Dirt," said Gwen with her eyes still shut tightly.

Tonks wrinkled her nose. "I'll try one anyway." And with that, she too put one in her mouth. "Shoe wax," said Tonks, "I think."

"I'll just put save these for another time," said Gwen smiling.

"Yeah, me too."

They both set their beans aside.

"Have you ever actually gotten a normal flavor?" Tonks aked.

"No, actually I haven't," replied Gwen.

"Do you like blonde on me?" Tonks asked a while later.

"What?" Said Gwen pushing herself up straighter.

"I said, do you think blonde hair looks good on me?"

"I guess," said Gwen awkwardly. "Why?"

"Because," started Tonks, she closed her eyes, and a second later her hair turned black, just like Gwen's.

"Whoa!" exclaimed Gwen. "How do you do that?"

"I'm a metamorphmagus."

"A what?!"

"It means someone who can change your appearence at will."

"Cool. I wish I was one."

Tonks smiled. "So, what color do you think would look best on me?" she asked.

"Hmmm," said Gwen thinking. "What if you just stay blonde today, and then have a different color for each day of the week?"

"Yeah," said Tonks her hair changing back to blonde.

"Or just until you find a color that you like the best."

Tonks got out a piece of paper and pencil.

"What's that?" asked Gwen pointing to the pencil.

"It's a pencil. Like a quill, except it isn't made out of a feather, and you don't have to ink it."

Gwen nodded, indicating that she understood.

"My dad is muggle born, and he thought that I should have some in case there's a situation where I can't ink a quill."

They started sharing their ideas for different hair colors.

The sky outside was getting dark.

"Hey," said Tonks. "I think we're almost to Hogsmeade station. We should get our robes on."

"Yeah," said Gwen sounding a bit troubled.

Why hasn't Amanda come yet?

They both slipped into their robes, and sat back down waiting for the whistle to sound.

~~Chapter 3~~

Gwen leaned back onto the closing her tired eyes. What felt like only a few minutes later the train lurched. Gwendalyn woke with a start. Tonks was already picking up her handbag and stood up. Gwen did the same. Gwen went to the door and slid it open. She looked to her left-- something smashed against her back making her topple forward. She fell onto someone.

"Hey!"

"Amanda?"

"Gwen?"

Gwen stood up and looked behind her to see what had hit her. Tonks brushed a lock of hair from her face, picking up her handbag.

"Sorry." Tonks mumbled. "I tripped over the door corner."

"Ooh. Well anyway, are you all right?

Tonks nodded, blushing.

"Well, Tonks, this is my friend Amanda. Amanda, this is Tonks."

"Hiya!" said Amanda enthusiastically.

"Hello," Tonks said smiling.

By this point almost everyone was off the train and onto Hogsmeade Platform.

"Hey, well everyone," Amanda interupted. " I think we should get off now."

They all looked down the hallway, then to each other, then began to run towards the exit.

They stood in some gravel waiting for, they didn't know what. They had been told in their letter from Hogwarts that they were to wait here for their new transportation to get to the gates.

Gwen shivered, rubbing her arms. Tonks rolled back and forth on her heels. Amanda whistled to herself happily. Then they saw a carriage rolling toward them, apparently nothing pulling it.

"Whoa." Said Amanda in awe.

They all boarded the carriages. They sat down.

"Tonks?" Said Amanda.

"Yes?"

"Well, if it does not sound rude, is Tonks your real name?"

"Well, it's my last name." She paused. "My first name is Nymphadora. But I go by Tonks or Dora."

Amanda nodded.

"I wish I had a more interesting name."

Tonks smiled weakly.

A moment later a few more lollygaggers acompanied the trio. The carriages seemed to know when the carriages had filled to six, because it lurched and rolled towards the castle.

Ok, there's chapter three.

Can you tell me how my writing is?

~~Chapter 4~~

The trio filed out of the carriage walking towards the gate. When they got to the gate Amanda stopped. Gwendalyn almost bumped into her.

"Why did you stop?"

Amanda didn't answer. She then put one half of her body on one side of the gate, and the other half the other side with her arms outstretched.

"Heh." Amanda giggled. Gwen rolled her eyes. Tonks stifiled a snort of laughter.

"Ok." Said Amanda purposefully. "I'm good." And with that she walked through the gate Gwen and Tonks following.

Only a few steps inside they found Professor Flitwick (Is he here at this time?) standing in front of them holding a clipboard.

"Names?" he said.

They were used to this. The year before this had happened. And the year before that. It had been so ever since the dark wizard, Voldemort, had risen to power and terrorizing witches and wizards.

"Gwendalyn Fidum."

"Amanda Warbeck."

"Nymphadora Tonks."

"Thank you." Flitwick said scratching what seemed to be a check mark next to their names.

They walked away.

"I still don't understand why they need our names." Amanda said.

"Isn't it for extra security." Gwen answered. "So they know if we are death eaters or not."

"Yeah, I guess" Amanda said uncertainly. "But if we really were a death eater, we would've made sure to know the name of the person we were impersonating. right?"

"Sometimes people like to think they're being safe, and lie to themselvesjust to believe it." Tonks piped up.

"Yeah I guess." Amanda said even more uncertainly. She sniffed the air. "Mmmm." She cooed. "Doesn't it smell wonderful." It wasn't a question. It did smell wonderful. Gwen and Tonks sniffed the air as well.

They were right beside the castle steps. They walked up them, still sniffing the gravy, mashed potato, freshed baked bread, herbed chicken scented air.

Gwen's stomach growled angrily at her. She felt so hungry. She thought she couldn't take another step, but the scent of the food drew her nearer.

They entered the Great Hall. Gwen realized that the smell wasn't coming from the Great Hall, for she saw no food on the great golden platters, but was coming from the direction of the kitchens- and towards the Hufflepuff common room, which was located in the basement near the kitchens.

They walked towards the Hufflepuff table and sat down.

Professor Mcgonnagal entered with the first years following behind her. They all had scared looks on their faces. They stopped in the front of the room. Minerva stepped up and took out a scroll from a pocket somewhere hidden beneath her cloak. The sorting had begun.

HI LUNA!!! Yes, I am on MuseBlog! I am a neophyte, remember?:) Anyway, ahem:

Jamie took out a quill and began writing. Ideas popped out of her head so fast she couldn't stop them. Suddenly her desire to write stopped and she tucked her quill into her robe pocket. She was the only one in her compartment. She liked it that way. It was peaceful. Jamie looked silently out the window. It was getting dark. Good. The night was so welcoming and quiet.

Then the door slid open. Jamie looked up to tell the intruder to go find another compartment when she noticed that it was____. (Fill in the blank somebody, will you?)

Yes, Mango. I remeber. You were funny. :) Maybe the blank could be Gwendelon?

Anyway, here we go:

Anna felt nervous as she prepared to apparate to Egypt. She was pretty good  at the best of times, but all the way to Egypt? Bill apeared to be slightly nervous, too, which seemed out of place on his usually cool and calm face. Still, she took a deep breath, and imagined Egypt. Bill did the same, and before they new it they were off. It seemed like an rather short trip, though. As they opened there eyes, they were rather suprised to see that Egypt had a design rather like Hogwarts.... Hogwarts? She had half paid attention in A History of Magic, and she new they coudn't apparate on Hogwarts grounds, but either this was Hogwarts, or an exact replica of it...

Well, I s'pose I'll be in Hogwarts, also, for reasons Anna does not yet know. :)

Jamie quickly immersed herself in a book as the girl sat down. Then she said, "Ummm... hi." The other girl nodded. "So, um, what year are you in?" "Third," the girl replied. "Oh," said Jamie. "I'm in first. I want to be in Ravenclaw. What's your name?" "Gwendelon. What's yours?" asked Gwendelon. "I'm Jamie," said Jamie. Suddenly the train stopped. "We're here!" Gwendelon said cheerfully. Then she looked troubled. "What?" Jamie asked. "See for yourself," Gwendolon replied darkly. Jamie quickly looked out the window-=and gasped. Because the front end of the train was slowly sinking into a huge mass of water.

Hi Mathilda! So, where's my Firebolt?! Well I guess you need to know where to ship it. Ship it to this adress on this particular piece of paper. *Slips Mathilda piece of paper.* And how many buisiness days will it take to be shipped? I really desperately need a new broomstick. My Comet three sixty just isn't holding up. And when it get's shipped just tell the owls to leave it in the next to the garage if they can. And what's the warranty on it anyway? Does it come with a manual?

I like your writing, Hannah. You might want to watch some of your questions, though--a lot of them come out like "Do you have any idea where we're supposed to be." instead of "Do you have any idea where we're supposed to be?" Anyway. It's just a little confusing to read.

Jamie was so scared by the water that was now engulfing her part of the train that she didn't notice yet another person coming into the compartment. He sat down next to her and said calmly, "This is normal, you know. For safety." Jamie and Gwen looked up, startled. The boy continued, "So you know, if you get scared by any more unimportant things like that, I'll just say right now that I won't appreciate you screaming. All right?" And with that last insult, he left. Gwen bristled. "He had no right to talk to us like that! I bet I'm a year older that him!" Jamie, too, was extremely angry, but she tried not to show it. "Anyhow, we're here!" she said.

Jamie stood in the Great Hall, waiting. She heard names being reeled off the list. Then: "Flybroome, Jamie!" Jamie walked unsteadily to the Sorting Hat. With a nod from a nearby teacher, she put on the hat. "Hmmm..." said a tiny voice inside her head. Jamie jumped nearly ten feet in the air. "Oh, don't be silly," said the voice. "Now where to put you?" Jamie held her breath. Then the hat screamed, "RAVENCLAW!" Jamie took the hat off, relieved that it was over. She saw Gwen waving at her from the Hufflepuff table. Jamie waved back and took her seat among the Ravenclaws.

~~Chapter 5~~

Gwen held her stomach as the sorting begun. She was so starving. She wished she had eaten both of her cauldron cakes. Her mind fluttered to her pocket, but she couldn't, it would be too rude to eat it in front of everyone else. So instead, to take her mind off her hunger, she tried remembering what the dates were for the Goblin outbrakes. It helped-sortof. Mcgonnagal had started calling out names.

"Paddock, Lucinda!" and "Celtsor, Zabien." Were only a few of the names Gwen heard. "Flybromme, Jamie." Was another. Jamie was sorted into Ravenclaw. Gwen waved at the girl, she waved back. A few more names echoed around the hall until Mcgonnagal took the stool away, and settled herself in a chair at the staff table. Dumbledore stood up, put his hands in the air and started a short speech.

"I know you are all very hungry, so I will not keep you long." He looked around the room, and Gwen could almost swear that he looked at her longer. She tried to hold her breath, but realized that she was already holding it as to not feel the hunger rumbling inside her stomach.

"These are dark and difficult times. We need to keep eachother close, not that we shouldn't keep them close all the times." And with those very few words he again put his hands towards the star strewn ceiling and said:

"Let the feast begin."

Food immediately appeared on the silver platters. Gwen grabbed onto a handle that was closest to her; mashed potatoes. Next came greenbeans, corn, bread, gravy and turkey. Amanda and Tonks, who were sitting on either side of her, were also helping themselves to food, so there was not much time for talk.

A while later when everyone had finished supper, along came dessert. Mounds of ice cream and pudding, cookies and cake, were heaped onto platters. Gwen helped herself to a nearby butterscotch pudding. Once she had eaten all she could, she turned to Amanda who was nibbling absentmindly on a cookie. (In Britain would it be called a biscuit?) Amanda put the cookie down.

"I'm tired." She said rubbing her finger on her plate.

"Me too." Agreed Gwen. She turned to Tonks who was resting her cheek on her hand, eyes drooping.

Soon Dumbledore walked to the podiom and called out.

"I am sure you have all had a delightful supper as I myself quite enjoyed." His eyes twinkled. "But now it is time for bed. Nitwit blubber and tweak!"

And with that everyone got up, the first years looking puzzled by these random words. Gwen, Tonks and Amanda stood up stretching their legs. They filed out of the great hall, heads of house in front. None of them said much. Not even Amanda. Finally they came to a portrait of (I don't know what the hufflepuff portrait looks like) the Fat Friar.

The head boy said: "Bog log." and the portrait hole swung open. The first years gaped in awe.

The trio stepped through the hole. Tonks, who was in front of Gwen, stumbled backward, Gwen caught her.

"Sorry." Tonks mumbled again.

And they walked towards the dormitories.

Jamie was amazed by the amount of food on the tables. She had been expecting a big feast, but not this big.... Slowly, she took a bite out of her chicken leg. When she had eaten enough, she, along with the other Ravenclaws, stood up and climbed up to the dormitories. She craned her neck to see the Head Girl and Boy. They were standing in front of a door. The Head Girl knocked, and to Jamie's amazement, the door spoke: "Which came first, the phoenix or the flame?" The Head Boy replied, "None- a circle has no beginning." The door opened, and Jamie stepped into the common room.

This roleplay is lke that. You add a character to whatever time period the roleplay is set in, and tell his/her story from his/her point of view. I love reading roleplays, especially Harry Potter ones, but I'm terrible at keeping up with writing, I usually end up creating a character and then never posting again. :/

But you could join this one!
