Harry Potter Roleplay 7
Because the other...
Because the other one is getting kind of long, even with the pages.
Also, TNÖ and Mary, I'm sorry if I got a little testy over on the other thread. It's not really your fault that the Hogwarts characters have got left behind a little - we have to keep playing them ourselves. I just have to find a way to bring us back.
Okay, then? Continue, please.

((It's okay; don't do it for me. I'm actually thinking of dropping out of this roleplay, not because of anything you guys did, just because it's getting too confusing. Sorry!))
(June 25, 2009 - 8:19 am)
((I made a post, but it disappeared... James is out doing something in his invisibility cloak. Lena, who was your character's name, anyway? It gets less confusing if you just post and let things happen... Didn't your character run away to Hogsmeade? Rose is going to try and go after the missing students, but she needs to find out where they are... so she and Holly are in the Room of Requirement. Okay...))
The room was small and circular. There were no windows. In the middle was a big crystal ball.
"This is how I'm getting the information? We don't take Divination! I don't think either of us know how to read the images. It's... outrageous! How are we supposed to find out anything?!"
"My mother says anyone can see anything if they just look in the right places," replied Holly calmly. "I think you just have to stare at it until an image appears."
"My mother - "
"Just try it. Please."
So Rose tried. She stared at the orb, and it was blank as can be, when, suddenly, she saw something. Not a tiny sliver of something but a clear vision - or, more accurately, 3 visions. The crystal ball was split into 3rds. On one side, she saw a group of students chattering happily away in Hogsmeade. They had obviously ran away on purpose, and were doing fine. The other 2 sections held horrible things. She saw Drusilla, a Slytherin girl she had never really liked, lyng dead on a cold stone floor. And she saw... her worst nightmare. Belinda, also from Slytherin, was sitting with a frown on her face. She looked afraid, although much less so than Rose would be in her situation. She was sitting in a room alone, and in other rooms - for Rose could see the whole house - were Oliver (from Slytherin, tied up and unable to move), a strange boy she'd never seen, Bellatrix Lestrange, and V - He Who Must Not Be Named. But how could that be? Uncle Harry had killed him, many years ago! Then again, Lestrange was supposed to be dead, too - killed by her paternal grandmother. What had happened? Were her family just all liars? She wanted to scream, to do something! But - she looked at Holly, to see what she was thinking, but from the look on Holly's face, she hadn't seen what Rose had.
PS: Admin, please don't zap this for being long.

((This is going to be a bit long, Adminstrator, so if you need to snip a bit and it still functions all right that'd be okay...))
Wolfbar, Belinda, and Oliver all glanced at each other, unsure how to answer or where to begin. Belinda opened her mouth, closed it again, and offered only an apologetic look. Oliver looked at Wolfbar, who hesitantly began.
"Well, I was... at home, I suppose, about a month or so ago, and these two were... at school?" Belinda nodded, and he continued. "I was doing some research on..." He shrugged, a bit embarrassed, "just research, I s'pose, and then Bellatrix showed up, at my house... and, ah..." Draco was staring at him oddly, as though unsure what he was talking about.
When Wolfbar hesitated, Draco made a go on gesture, and he continued. "Then we Apparated here, and she tortured me a few times, then she made me read Shakespeare, and then Belinda showed up."
Belinda picked up, with only slightly more confidence. "I'd run away from school because I was... well, I was tired of all the anti-Dark Arts dogmas and such. And so I came here..." She broke off as Draco's eyebrows rocketed up.
"You purposely came here?" he asked incredulously. "Here? Of your own free will?" When she nodded wordlessly, he burst out, "But she's insane! Stark raving mad! And dangerous- you could have died!" Oliver looked as though he agreed.
"Yes," Belinda said, "yes, I suppose that you might be right on some counts... but she's perfectly sane," she added, a bit defensively. Draco looked disdainful, but she plowed on. "Then Bellatrix showed me a few things, some spells and such, and told me a bit about what we'd have to do to ressurrect... him." She didn't say anything else, and looked a bit fragile, so Wolfbar continued. He told Draco Malfoy about Oliver and Drusilla following their friend, ignoring Draco's confused look at the mention of Drusilla. He relayed how they'd finally Apparated to Y'Galle, and haltingly spoke of Drusilla's death, at which point Belinda's face became subtly more closed and defensive. He told how he'd snatched the box up ((we still don't know why he didn't go insane, do you have any thoughts on that?)) and they'd returned to the manor. He summarized the past few days, Oliver filling in some more technical details (with not a little melodrama) until finally Wolfbar uttered the words, "And then I came down to breakfast, and they told me that they were trying to summon the Death Eaters, and then you showed up." The whole process had taken a little over an hour, and no one looked any the better for it.
Draco swallowed his last bite of orange. "Why did I come here?"
(June 26, 2009 - 12:55 pm)
(('"We'll explain it the way we explain all plot holes!" "How?" "MAGIC!" "..."' *cough* too much DF for Haley...))
"Well, I don't know," Belinda snapped. "Why don't you tell me- after all, I thought she was 'stark raving mad' and 'dangerous'."
Draco merely raised an eyebrow. "She is mad. You don't know her. She's obsessed with him-" he gestured towards the door. "-do anything he asked... You know, after Potter killed him- again- she showed up and screamed at mother for two hours straight because she'd lied about Potter being alive. I've never seen anyone so angry. And..." he trailed off, as if unsure of how to continue. "Have you ever seen her while she's torturing somebody? The look she gets on her face? Like she's a little kid playing with a puppy or something."
"So?" Belinda asked, though she had paled noticeably. Oliver looked like he might be ill.
"So?" yelped Draco. "So? You're as bad as her!" He shoved back from the table and stormed out of the room.
Very much to his surprise, Bellatrix was sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall beside the door. A book lay open in her lap, and she was grinning up at him. "Rude to gossip, you know."
"I thought you were in the library," he moaned.
"I was, for a few minutes. Never said how long I would be there." She shrugged, as if it should have been obvious.
He let out a strangled cry of frustration and began to stride down the hall, away from his aunt.
"You should try it," she called after him. "Going mad? It's very liberating."
(June 26, 2009 - 2:06 pm)
((Magic, then... and what's DF?))
Wolfbar turned to Belinda, who was blinking very rapidly. "He has a point, you know," he said quietly. "Why did you come here? You could've gone to Hogsmeade or something."
It took Belinda a few seconds to reply. "It's none of your business," she snapped. "Why can't you just mind your own business and leave everyone alone?"
The look on Oliver's face clearly told Wolfbar to let it go, but he pressed on. "And why does she like you so much? And what huge problems could you have had with anti-Dark Magic dogmas if you're so mopey over Bellatrix killing your friend? Why the interest in the Dark Arts anyhow?"
If Oliver's expression was anything to judge by, Wolfbar had, one way or another, crossed the line.
"Shut up!" she exclaimed. "Just shut up, Wolfbar! You're always trying to figure everyone out! Maybe if you understood just what-"
At that moment the door swung open and the Dark Lord strode in. "Such drama..." he noted reprovingly. "Hasn't anyone taught you children control and self-discipline?"
His statement was met with silence, at which he continued in a surprisingly conversational tone. "Even Draco"- he tilted his head towards the door- "even Draco, a full-grown man, can't seem to keep his emotions from running amok... I could hear his rantings from all the way downstairs. Speaking of which," he added to Oliver, "go and fetch Draco and... his aunt. We have some discussing to do."
(June 26, 2009 - 3:25 pm)
((DragonFable. It's a game, and the creators have an... interesting... sense of humor (that's putting it lightly). Think puns, spoofs, parodies, and general craziness. But it's fun.))
Oliver very nearly tripped over his own feet in his rush to get out of the kitchen. The Dark Lord watched him go with a half-amused expression on his face.
Bellatrix strode in a moment later. "Just saw the boy running down the hall like he'd just seen a ghost." Her eyes slid up to her master's face. "What'd you do? Set a boggart on him?"
"No," he replied, almost defensively. "I didn't do anything."
"Uh-huh." She settled onto the table, one foot up on a chair.
"Really," he said, folding his arms. "He's just exceedingly jumpy. What'd you say to Draco to get him so tetchy?"
"Haven't the slightest," she replied. "But then, our family has always been slightly unhinged."
The Dark Lord smirked; Draco walked into the room then, Oliver skulking behind him.
"So," Draco asked, sitting at the table. "What's the plan?"
"Much the same," muttered the Dark Lord, looking suddenly distracted. "Nip at the edges. Gather an army-"
"Again..." Bellatrix interjected. The Dark Lord glared at her for a moment; she donned an innocent expression and smiled sweetly at him.
"Again. Take out key players, aurors, quietly of course. Keep people from realizing what's happening for as long as possible."
"Pretty vague," Bellatrix pointed out. Her master shot her a quick glance, and slight, sardonic smile passed over her features.
"And of course we'll be ignoring the prophecy this time?" Draco asked mildly.
"Well, that goes without saying," muttered the Dark Lord. Bellatrix snickered quietly.
(June 26, 2009 - 4:21 pm)
Because Wolfbar had only a remote idea what they were talking about and disliked being excluded, he cleared his throat and queried, "How exactly will we... you?... be gathering an 'army,' all things considered?"
"The same way as last time," Bellatrix and the Dark Lord answered, almost in unison.
Wolfbar glared.
Bellatrix smiled back.
"Could you.... elaborate?" Wolfbar asked through clenched teeth.
"Oh, you know," said Bellatrix breezily. "A few ads in the Daily Prophet... 'Death Eaters needed. Employment for life; deserters hunted down and killed; little or no benefits. Sick leave not offered. Apply at local derelict manor.' "
Voldemort smirked. "For those of you too thick-headed to be aware"- his gleaming red eyes alighted on Wolfbar for a moment- "that was something resembling humour."
Wolfbar couldn't help but note that Bellatrix seemed considerably more cheerful after that statement.
((Hmm, it's actually quiet out in the living room. I should go make sure that everyone's conscious...))
(June 26, 2009 - 6:10 pm)
Who's Haley?
(June 28, 2009 - 1:23 pm)
((Me. TNÖ isn't actually my name, you know...))
(June 29, 2009 - 10:04 am)
Well, if Lena's dropping out, I won't bother to join in. Hey, anyone want to start a new HP roleplay? I'll make a thread just if anyone wants to join. @ TNO (umlaut) Sorry, I should have realized you were Haley.
(June 29, 2009 - 3:12 pm)
((We don't need *another* HPRP, do we? This is this one's eleventh thread (yes, it says seventh, that was a typo), and it's still going strong and not awfully confusing. In my humble opinion it's perfectly okay. Wouldn't it be more confusing to have two?))
(June 29, 2009 - 6:55 pm)
I would join your HPRP, I don't mind being in 2.
