Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book Recommendations
Recommendations, anyone?  I&#...

Recommendations, anyone?  I've read almost all the "suitable" books in the house, and am looking for more.  My parents are always urging me to pick out a book at the bookstore, but I think it's a waste of money unless it's really good..  I rely more on the library.  Please help!  There are a bunch of series out there that I'm scared to try, because I don't like badly written books.  To give an idea of my taste, my favorite author is Andrew Clements, my favorite series is Warriors, I love good fiction, and I abhor bad editing (I've found about 25 typos in Warriors and would like to be a book editor when I grow up.).

Hm... Never heard of Andrew Clemens, but I've read a few Warriors books. Do you like rabbits or bears? There's a really book called Watership Down by Richard Adams that's kind of like Warriors but with rabbits, and the writing is different. Not many typos in there. And I've heard about a new book series by Erin Hunter about bears called Seekers, but I've never read it.

How many books are in Seekers, 40? (It's Ehunter, c'mon.)

Sage, have you read the Harry Potter series? Artemis Fowl and A Series of Unfortunate Events are good too. I suggest all of these because they're very well edited. And if you abhor errors... avoid the Twilight books. Please, for your own good.

Thanks!!!... I read the Series of Unfortunate events, down to Chapter Fourteen... I'll try Artemis Fowl next.  What's the first book called?

Yes, Harry Potter is awesome! I don't even usually like fantasy, and I liked it. I also like Andrew Clements, but Harry Potter is very different from his books. Although it IS a school story... sorta. :)

Hmmmmmmmmm, lets see now. age eleven, you may want to try Juniper, yes yes i think its good for your age. Hmmmm what else? Eragon might be a little too old, have you ever read Harry potter? you should, you can order it at amazon or get it at a library and you can find it at any possible bookstore. My sister is reading ballet shoes, she really likes it, and shes the same age as you, maybe you can try it, again also on amazon. oh I almost forgot! The mysterious benedict society. its awesome! also on, what a surprise amazon. i read Helen Keller, no not The Story of my life BY helen Keller, its just Helen Keller, but it was kinda old, so you probably cant find it on amazon (sarcastic gasp) but maybe on ebay or ugh!I cant remember! check back later to see it when I think of it. sorry!

Bye everybuggy.

Hm... Well, if you like Warriors I'd definitely suggest Watership Down. You might also try Empire of the Ants, which was basically WD only ant-style (not a copy of WD, just the same concept). Both are very good- and rather thick- books.

Uh... Don't read Twilight, it's full of typos, grammar mistakes, and overall bad characters. :)

I'm afraid I won't be of much help to you, I'm not really into Warriors or Andrew Clements. Sorry.

If you're curious and have absolutely nothing else to read and are up for horrific morals and bad writing, Twilight isn't that bad. That's kind of the attitude I went into reading it with. (sorry, dangling participle) But if you abhor typos and bad grammar... well, then, maybe not.

I must agree with you, TNO. My friend Yoni read them. He said they were the best. I don't, so do not read them !!!!!!! I still think he should read The Ghost books.....

If you like Warriors, then you should read Seekers, by the same author.

Hmm... I thought that I had the first AFowl book on my bookshelf, but apparently not. :( Well, I'll check the title for you later, Sage.

Yes, thanks.  We went to the library yesterday, and got out "The Lost Colony, but it appears that our library doth not have Book #1.  Is that a good place to start?  And is this a series where the characters are carried over from book to book, or the books are independent of each other?
