Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book Reccommendation Thread and Biblio's annoucement (not leaving I promise)
This thread comes...

This thread comes to you in two parts.

Pt.1-In Which Biblio Thanks You All

Hey guys. I'm sorry I've been pretty inactive lately, I promise I'm not leaving. I just am feeling a bit disconnected because I'm not exactly the target audience anymore-which is completely fine, we need so many more spaces like this for tweens-but I'm going to try to be more active and talk and things like that. I'm really happy to have found this place, and I want to stay.

@Admins: Thank you for creating and contributing to this place and helping us. I love this place and it's a really a safehaven.

Pt.2- In Which Biblio Shuts It So We Can Do Book Recs!

So, this thread is for you to put down what books you reccomend, or ask for book recs.

( little disclaimer before my recs that i read almost exclusively young adult and teen fiction??? a few of these books have language / content that wouldn't fall into the tween genre . . . but nothing too bad or anything ! ♥︎ )

♕  the raven cycle by maggie steifvater | honestly, words can't even describe how much i luv this series ( i haven't purchased the last of the four books, but i adored the first three so i certainly have high hopes ). it's urban fantasy that includes but isn't limited to; underground sleeping ancient welsh kings, psychics, ley lines, boys-only private boarding schools with interesting students, ghosts, fate, people who can take substances out of their dreams, and lots of cars. these books have such an interesting mood to them, and they're really not like anything else i've ever read.  ( maybe rated about 13 & up for language?? )

♕ the shades of magic trilogy by v. e. schwab | these books. i really do blame victoria ( or, v. e. ) for making me so awfully picky when it comes to the teen/ya fantasy genre. her work is honestly breathtaking, her characters so well-written, and her plot ( as long as you can get through the first 50 pages of the first book setting the stage for it all ) is addictive. i've never read much dimensional travel, but her ideas about it are so fresh and her writing will always leave you hungry for more. ( 13 or 14 & up for language & violence & some mildly sexual content )

♕ summer and bird by katherine catmull | i should start this by saying — this is not a book for everyone, but it is a book for me. it's dreamy and strange and eerie and almost vague in some ways? it's certainly not a fast read, but it has such a pretty way about it that even when the plot is a bit slow, you'll still want to read it. it's all about disappearing parents, magical and bird-run worlds, and a certain amount of twisted-esque fairy tales. ( no age rating! anyone can read it tbh! )

♕ six of crows (duo-logy) by leigh bardugo | i'm not saying that i want 500 more books after the two in this painfully short series ( six of crows and crooked kingdom ) . . . but i'm honestly hungry for more. leigh bardugo's writing in general is so terribly quotable, but these two books are, in my opinion, the crown jewels of everything she's ever written. the world is the best fictional universe i've ever read, undoubtedly. the moral ambiguity of the characters is truly amazing?? if darkly-crafted fantasy worlds, dangerous outcasts, impossible heists, hundreds of iconic quotes, & lots of fighting is your cup of tea . . . read this! ( 13 or 14 & up for violence & occasional language )

Six of Crows is the best! I recently bought A Darker Shade of Magic, so I hope it's good!

The summer reading program at my library started, and one of the squares is to read a book that was chosen by someone else, so do you have any suggestions for that?
