Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book Reccommendation Thread and Biblio's annoucement (not leaving I promise)
This thread comes...

This thread comes to you in two parts.

Pt.1-In Which Biblio Thanks You All

Hey guys. I'm sorry I've been pretty inactive lately, I promise I'm not leaving. I just am feeling a bit disconnected because I'm not exactly the target audience anymore-which is completely fine, we need so many more spaces like this for tweens-but I'm going to try to be more active and talk and things like that. I'm really happy to have found this place, and I want to stay.

@Admins: Thank you for creating and contributing to this place and helping us. I love this place and it's a really a safehaven.

Pt.2- In Which Biblio Shuts It So We Can Do Book Recs!

So, this thread is for you to put down what books you reccomend, or ask for book recs.

YASSS BIBLIO!!!! This is an amazing idea!!!!

I'd love some realistic fiction YA book recs without too much romance. I just finished Looking for Alaska by John Green, and absolutely loved it!!!

Thanks, September! I LOVE JOHN GREEN TOO!!! I think The Fault In Our Stars is his best book, but all of his others are really amazing too!

I reccommend:

-Mosquitoland by David Arnold: It's really amazing, and has some romance but it's not the plot or anything, it's just part of the story.

-The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner: I loved this book, and it's sad but really amzing. If you like it, you should read his other book, Goodbye Days!

-Lumberjanes: This really doesn't fit into any of your categories, but I think you'd love it! It's a comic and it's first 10 issues were co-written by Noelle Stevenson (the writer of Nimona!!!). It's about this camp that's kinda like a girl scout camp and there's monsters and super-natural things in the woods. The characters are really diverse and it's just SO, SO great!!! There's a small bit of romance, and it's really, really cute.

-Stargirl by Jerry Spindelli: It's amazing, somewhat romantic, and really sad.

- This Song Will Save Your Life: I LOVED this book so much!!! It's funny and heartbreaking and just a really great book.

-Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell: OH MY GOD this book- I bet you've read it already, but if you haven't, you definately should. It's totally romance, but honestly that makes this book better and I hope you try it.

Youv'e probably already read half of these, but we'll see. Also, I finished Ruin and Rising over break. IT WAS AMAZING!!! My favorite characters-mostly-didn't die.

@September:

I loved Looking for Alaska too!  It was such a great book. I rate it 5/5 stars.

Looking for Alaska is a strict young adult book.  To sum it up, this book is about a boy who goes to boarding school to gain new experiences and get on with his life.  However, he meets unexpected, new people that become his friends, which is something he never had before.  Suddenly a very bad event occurs, forcing him and his friends to cope with and come to realization of what has happened and why.

I'm very excited to see other book recs because right now I have no other books to read!

Yaya, Biblio! Im so glad your back, and posting! You may not know me so well, but I can tell how amazing you are! Stay super!

I have a book recommendation, called Wonder by R. J. Palicio. It's an amazing, heartrenching page turner and I would reccomend it to anyone in need of a good book.

I generally don't have a hard time scavenging for good books when set free in the library, but all the same, I could use a few recommendations. Does anyone know of any really good fantasy books or serieses (series's, series?)? I basically can take anything that isn't extremely dark, or inappropriate (obviously).

Have you read the sisters grimm? Its an awesome book, full of mystery, fantasy and homour. Or maybe Ranger's Apprentice? How about the spiderwick chronicles? I havnt read thdm yet, but I recently borrowed about 17 books from the library, and they're one of them

The Lunar Chronicles! They're like a fractured fairytales, set in the future. For example, Cinderella (Cinder) is a cyborg, and her cyborg foot falls off intead of the whole glass slipper thing. Cress (Rapunzel) has lived in a satellite all her life, instead of a tower. The characters are all really well written, and it's always interesting! You should read these!

I can't really recommend anything other than that, sorry. I read almost no fantasy anymore! :(

Check out The Tales of Goldstone Wood series by Anne Elisabeth Stengl.  It's amazing!  It's beautifully written and not terribly dark.

(Plus I haven't met anyone else who's read it and I need to be able to chat and fangirl over it with someone.XD)

Thanks, all of you! I'll try to check those out. @Bluebird, I've thought about reading Lunar Chronicals; do they have much romance/any inappropriate stuff? And if so, how bad? Because I think I asked a CBers before and they said it did, which is why I've been avoiding it. Sorry for all the questions! I just wanna make sure I would be allowed to read this, because it sounds really cool!

The Lunar Chronicles do have romance; characters kiss and there is a bit of innuendo, but nothing of that sort is described graphically. There is violence and a deadly disease, but you get dark undertones in most fantasy books. I would say they're okay for twelve and up.

Have you read the Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede? They are clean and very good.

I would also recommend the Emily Windsnap series by Liz Kessler, or at least the first book. It's more of a modern day world with fantasy elements, but I like it.

The Princess Academy by Shannon Hale is a really good book, and there are sequels, but I didn't like them as much.

I liked Diana Wynne Jones' Chrestomanci series, again particularly the first one, Charmed Life.

The City of Ember series by Jeanne DuPrau

Most of all I would recommend a very little-known book called The Treekeepers by Susan McGee Britton. It doesn't have any sequels, but I've heard one is in the works.
