The Ultimate CB Book Log
Have you read...
Have you read a book recently?
Enter its name here. This is the 2017 Ultimate CB Book Log. Well, technically starting in 2016, but who cares?
This is a place for us to keep a huge, giant log of books, both for ourselves, and also so other CBers can see what we're reading. Everytime you finish a book--whether you've read it or not--put its name and author here. You don't have to talk about it or anything...you just type in its title. We can discuss books here if you want, but it's not required.
Have fun!
I think this is a great idea, Owlgirl!

Reading the Keeper of The Lost Cities series the second time through. I'm refreshing my memory before the 6'th book comes out. EEEEEEEEEEEEE! Only 20 days exactly!!!

What is that series about?

@Jwyn-
Oh, it is my FAV SERIES EVER! Here is the synopsis from the inside cover of the first book:
"Twelve-year-old Sophie Foster has a secret. She's a Telepath--someone who hears the thoughts of everyone around her. It's a talent she's never known how to explain
Everything changes the day she meets Fitz, a mysterious boy who appears out of nowhere and also reads minds. She discoveres there's somewhere she does belong, adn that staying with her famiy will put her in grave danger. In the blink of an eye, Sophie is forced to leave behind everything and start a new life in a place that is vastly different from anything she has never known.
Sophie has new rules to learn and new skills to master, adn not everyone in thrilled that she has come "home." There are secrets buried deep in Sophie's memory--secrets who she really is and why she was hidden among humans--that other people desperatly want. Would even kill for."
So, yeah. In my opinion, those short few paragraphs don't even BEGIN to explain all that goes on in the series. There are five more books, the sixth one coming out in November (EEEEE). She has a crush on someone (I shall NOT say who), and later on in the books, there is a kinda love hexagon thing going on. Oh, and the author's name is Shannon Messenger, if you want to look it up. I totally reccomend it, though! The author knows what she's doing, and the story has moments that, no matter what you do, you cannot but help laughing out loud! (Okay....I'll stop ranting now...)
SOPHITZ FOREVER!!!

The Girl Who Drank The Moon, which I'm not sure will be a classic like all the reviews claim (central plot's a bit hard to pin down and the pace and such are probably a bit slow and subtle for some kids), but is definitely very good and I recommend to everyone above the age of 10.

That sounds awesome Vyolette! I might look into it.

A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitz.

I started The Girl Who Drank the Moon. It seemed interesting, but kinda slow and chewy for my taste. It won the 2017 Newbery Award.

Yeah, it is kind of slow and scattershot in the beginning. I think it might make a better teen/adult novel than kids', but it's still good, the way all the threads come together...

@Vyolette
OK, so I read the first book a couple of years ago, and I actually really enjoyed it. I didn't know that it was series until like three minutes ago, so I am pretty excited about that. I have to know if Sophie actually ends up with Fitz. Do you know if she does?

I re-read Into the Gauntlet from The 39 Clues for like the millionth time. That series was my third "big" series after Nancy Drew and The Secret Zoo. I probably read 39 Clues when I was...eight???? Nine??? Looking back, there was probably too much murder for me to read at that age. I just liked the stories I read back then, even if I didn't understand them :)
For those who have not read 39 Clues, it's an awesome series that has an easy-to-follow format for younger readers, and a dark plot that interests older readers but doesn't delve that deep into hopelessness (like the spin-off series).

@Sprocket-
Oh, I SOOOOO wish she would! I shall not spoil it for you, but there is no definite leaning towards which boy she will end up with. Though definatly not Dex. Fitz and Keefe have both made it clear in their own words that they have feelings for her. Poor Sophie gets very confused...And in the 5'th book...AHHH! The ending made me want to SCREAM!
I have told random people that I shall die if Fitz and Sophie do not kiss in the 6'th book.
And I WILL die if Keefe and Sophie do.
The second book is called "Exile", and I sincerely reccomend that you read it...and the other 4.
In the copy I pre-ordered of the 6'th book (Nightfall is the title), I got this bonus material thing specifically if you buy the Barns and Noble brand. It said that, at the very end of the book, it will have a special chapter in Keefe's POV, explaining and I quote "Hopfully" sort out his feelings for Sophie. WHY?!?! That is the most sure sign that he and Sophie will end up together! *Screams* But then again...Shannon Messenger is known for her great skill in creating plot twists...Sophie will end up with Fitz in the end? Please?

Here's one I just read!
The Dreadful Tale of Prosper Redding, by Alexandra Bracken.
And I loved it <3 True, it had a few kind of annoying tropes and cliches, but I like the twist, the characters, and especially a certain one called Alastor. I'd definitely recommend it!
