Harry Potter Rant for Haters
So, there was...

So, there was a thread for this, but I can't get it to top...

But who else extremely dislikes Harry Potter? I definitely do. I think Harry is so flat...so are Cho, Hermione, and Ron. Ron is a generic dweeb (sorry Ron.) Harry is a generic hero (sorry Harry) and none of his friends get any credit or a chance to be heroes! Cho is...just ugh. No. And Hermione is just smart and emotional. That's all.

Now I will prepare to get attacked by Potterheads.

... I'm sorry, Ell, but... Well... You see...

(Okay, I need to throw this out now)

I LOVE THE HARRY POTTER SERIES.

There, I got it out, and I am sorry. I practically cried seeing the thread's title. In my opinion, none of the characters are flat. Although, Harry was my least favorite, but still was a very good character. He held loyal and true to his friends and family as a true Gryffindor. Ron... That kid's the bravest thing I ever knew. Well, besides Neville. Hermione started saving Harry and Ron's lives from day 1. Cedric was a brave, brave soul. I can't remember much about Cho, though. Ginny, Neville, THE WEASLEY TWINS. Can't forget them. Dumbledore, HAGRID, great, great, Hagrid. Professor Snape, Professor McGonagal, *cringes* and Voldemort.

I am beyond sorry for throwing your thread down. I usually would never post such a thing, but I am a HUGE HUGE Potterhead. Soo... Well, this is a very important topic to me. But I understand if you or others dislike the series. I can see why. But who can't love these quotes?:

Why spiders? Why couldn't it be "follow the butterflies"? ~ Ronald Weasley

Fred, Remus, Tonks... they didn't die in vain. But YOU will. 'Cause you're wrong! Harry's heart did beat for us. For all of us! It's not over! ~ Neville Longbottom

I hope you're pleased with yourselves. We could all have been killed - or worse, expelled. Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to bed. ~ Hermione Granger

We all got both light and dark inside of us. What matters is the part we choose to act on, that's who we really are. ~ Sirius Black

If you want to know what a man is like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals. ~ Sirius Black

So...

*End of Long(ish) Rant*

Sorry about that, everyone! *Clasps hands together and grins* Now, what was it we were talking about again? Oh yes... I remember. Harry Potter.

Harry Potter very often makes me very, very irratated.

Ginny Weasley was so flat. Harry Potter was unrealistic. The Dursleys should have been arrested for child abuse, Dumbledore was a meddling old coot who was severely biased towards Gryffindor, an entire one fourth of the school *coughcoughSlytherincough* was labeled "evil" complete with the stereotypical snake (SNAKES ARE CUTE SHUT UP ABOUT SNAKES) Cho Chang makes me want to headdesk repeatedly, and the glorificiation of both Snape and James Potter somewhat bothers me. Snape was a jerk with a somewhat epic backstory, still a jerk, James Potter was a loveable jerk. Both jerks, but it was Lily's choice. She choose James, so all you Snily shippers are gonna end up having to diss half of your ship to get over that.

I also love Harry Potter- a lot.

I love butterbeer and the Marauder's Map, I love the world, so deep and realistically, with a thousand little quirks, I love the castle and the chocolate frogs and all the little things. The only reason I judge Harry Potter so harshly is because I see something beautiful in Harry Potter. I don't diss on Harry Potter because I hate it, I diss on Harry Potter because I love it. I love thinking through how unrealistic it is, I love wishing it was real. I love really fan theories, headcanons. For anyone rather cynical, and up for a bit of swearing (I don't actually remember how much I haven't reread it in forever, I just remember reading it on my also rather cynical brother's reccomendation. Apparently it was written by someone he has mutual friends with or something. I forget) you should read Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality by Less Wrong. It's a bit dense, more than a bit cynical, and wholy hilarious. It is the most surefire way to get the ever cynical Dark Lord Indigo of the House of Slimy Snake Slytherins to laugh her head off.

Anyway, sorry for the long rant.
