So! Have you
Chatterbox: Blab About Books
So! Have you all heard about this?
It's the American school of magic. I recently read JKR's writing about it on Pottermore, and it has a really amazing interesting history!
Even if you don't have a Pottermore account, you can still go to Pottermore, then click on Writing by JK Rowling, and read about it.
Like Hogwarts, it has four houses. The houses are named after creatures(read about the story behind this in JKR's story). They are: Horned Serpent, Wampus, Thunderbird and Pukwudgie. Unlike Hogwarts, they don't really have definitive traits, although
"It is sometimes said of the Ilvermorny houses that they represent the whole witch or wizard: the mind is represented by Horned Serpent; the body, Wampus; the heart, Pukwudgie and the soul, Thunderbird. Others say that Horned Serpent favours scholars, Wampus, warriors, Pukwudgie, healers and Thunderbird, adventurers."
The Sorting is also different from that of Hogwarts. Basically, you stand in a hall surrounded by four enchanted carvings, each representing the house. Whatever house chooses you will move in some sort of way. And "Should more than one carving signify its wish to include the student in its house, the choice rests with the student." It's very rare (perhaps once in a decade) that someone is offered a place in all four houses.
If you don't know about Ilvermorny yet, then read about it and you can talk about it on this thread. The same thing goes for people who already know about it.
So, have you taken the Ilvermorny Sorting Quiz yet? If so, what's your house? (And what's your Hogwarts house?)
I took it on Pottermore and got Horned Serpent, which I kind of expected to.
At Hogwarts, I am a proud Hufflepuff.

In the official Pottermore Sorting, I am a Ravenclaw, which wouldn't kill me if we really went to Hogwarts. However, I think quizzes that have the question 'Which House Would You like to be in/Do you would be in' are actually a bit more accurate, because according to the books the Sorting Hat does take your wishes into consideration. On almost every other test I have ever taken, I am a Hufflepuff. That combined with my strong desire to BE a Hufflepuff, and the fact that all the hybrid house tests I have ever taken say I'm a Ravenpuff, I am pretty sure that I would be a Hufflepuff if Hogwarts were real.
In Ilvermorny, I am a Pukwudgie. Many people have expressed the feeling that Pukwudgie is the 'Hufflepuff of Ilvermorny,' which may or may not be true. It definitely seems that Pukwudgie House values many if the same things as Hufflepuff, but that doesn't automatically make them the same. We don't know too much about Pukwudgie's standing in the school, but at Hogwarts Hufflepuffs are generally considered a bit dim, and with little ambition. The truth is, Hufflepuffs are some of the best people you could ever meet! They have some of the best qualities if all the Houses combined!
You say Hufflepuffs aren't brave like Gryffindors? Look at Tonks! Look at Cedric! During the Battle of Hogwarts, only Gryffindor had more students stay to fight (and most of them were underage and were escorted out anyway, so Hufflepuff might have had the most students stay to fight in the end!)
You say Hufflepuffs aren't smart like Ravenclaws? Look at Ernie! He got into N.E.W.T. Potions! And once again, LOOK AT TONKS. SHE IS AN AUROR. AND A HUFFLEPUFF.
You say Hufflepuffs aren't ambitious like Slytherins? Look at Cedric! He was the HOGWARTS CHAMPION!!!!! (Yes, Harry was also, but he was actually entered under a forth, nonexistent, school, so according to the Goblet if Fire, he wasn't)
Sooooooo yeah. Thanks for reading all that. I just feel like Hufflepuffs tend to be very underappriciated, despite actually being J.K. Rowling's favorite House.

I am totally with you. In my opinion, Hufflepuffs deserve more attention. We are a great, loyal, terrific house!

lol, I always end up being Hufflepuff in quizzes, wish I was Ravenclaw.
(July 6, 2016 - 2:38 pm)
Ravenclaw and Horned Serpent forever!
(July 6, 2016 - 9:09 am)
I am a humble (yet proud) Hufflepuff, Huffleclaw, and Pukwudgie.
(July 6, 2016 - 2:04 pm)
I am either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, and Wampus.
(July 6, 2016 - 3:37 pm)
Ravenclaw and Thunderbird!!! Yay!!!
(July 6, 2016 - 4:30 pm)
What are everyone's wands? Mine is a 13'' Sycamore wand with a dragon heartstring core and brittle flexibility.
(July 6, 2016 - 4:40 pm)
Mine is 13" Hazel with a Phoenix feather core. Fairly bendy.
(July 7, 2016 - 8:35 am)
I am a 13" Sycamore (like you, Riddler) with a pheonix core, and ridgid. (Not the exact wording, but you get the idea.)
(July 7, 2016 - 12:01 pm)
Nevermind, that was my old account's wand. My NEW account's wand is 14 1/2" with a pheonix feather core, and slightly yelding flexability.

I got Hufflepuff on the Pottermore quiz, but I've gotten a mix of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw on other quizzes, plus I like to think of myself as a Ravenclaw...but either way, I'm in great company. Tonks and Luna for the win.
I got Pukwudgie (*checks spelling*) for Ilvermorny (*checks spelling again*), which seems alright and fitting enough, but there's not much information. Maybe there will be more details posted soon.
Fflewddur says mynn. Really? All those fancy house names and you couldn't reference one?
