THE ELEMENTI CHRONICLES BOOK I: THE STONE OF SERENITY

Chapter I
___{:}___

The moonlight shone on the Lake's deep, fuchsia waters. Conifer trees fringed it, thickening into foreboding woods. The Lake was the center of the Faimón Forest, and it contained a great amount of magic. Its surface was smooth, undisturbed. All seemed well, yet it was not. A wild cry broke the peaceful silence. A shape tumbled down a path through the trees. Another shape hared after the first, who had a jagged gash down its side. "Tell me where it is and we can save a lot of trouble," the second animal growled. "Never! Never in my life!" the first cried, practically wailing. "Then I guess the information will die with you!" The second figure struck the first, shoving it into the Lake. After a while, its head bobbed up, gasping for air. "We. . . . won't. . . tell you! You'll never. . . find. . . . it. . . " The second animal chuckled quietly to itself. "And who's going to stop me?" It padded silently away into the trees.
__________
Sheena opened her eyes. Squinting through the thick water, she searched for the surface. She couldn't tell which way was which in the murky fuchsia water of the Lake, heavy with magic. It was the one body of water that Aquinas leopards couldn't swim skillfully in. There! A pinpoint of moonlight shone through the water. Sheena kicked strongly towards it, propelling herself through the Lake to that shaft of light. She could feel her breath slipping away. Just as she thought she would black out, her muzzle broke the surface. Sheena gasped for air, the gash Narwhal had given her stinging. She paddled for the shore, tail boosting her forward. The leopard reached the sandy beach and heaved herself up onto it. She shook her royal blue pelt out, shuddering.
Sheena knew that the Knowledge Protector would be proud. She would not reveal the Stone's location to anyone, especially not Narwhal, even if it cost her her life. The Aquai Leopards were the guardians of the Stone of Serenity and were part of the Elementi Leopards, along with the Ignis, Ventus, Aether, and Terra Leopards. Each kept a Stone of Harmony, like the Honesty Stone and the Joy Stone.
Each cult of Leopards selected one of their kind to keep all of said cult's lore, the Knowledge Protector. The tales and secrets of each cult were passed down through generations of Protectors. Sheena was training as the Apprentice Protector for her cult.
In addition to the Leopards in the five cults, there were Leopards that abandoned their birth cult and lived as enemies of the Elementi known as Rogues. Rogues banded together, and Narwhal lead his group, which he called the Rens. Narwhal and his group wanted to get everyone in Leovie who opposed the Stones of Harmony to join him, their goal being to capture the Stones, or destroy them, once and for all. Sheena didn't know what would happen if all balance in Leovie was destroyed, and she didn't really want to find out.
Lying on the shore now, gasping for breath, Sheena recounted the day she'd been selected for Apprenticeship by the Knowledge Protector, Ciel. . . .

I'm glad my return has been received so well (for the most part). Here's the next part!

"Hello?" she called into the shadows. There was no answer, but the telltale glow of his sea-green eyes was unmistakeable. "Come out!" she begged. "Please! I need to talk to you!"

And he prowled forth, gaze dark. His claws, long and glinting in the forest light, were unsheathed. "Sheena," he growled. "Why are you here?"

"Wh-why? Narwhal, I came here to find you," she mumbled. He glared at her and she felt unsettled.

"You are a threat to my cause." His voice was dangerously low, with a snarling edge. "You never wanted to join me."

"Why would I join you? You go against everything I stand for," Sheena argued, some strength flowing back into her voice.

"You took Flower away," he accused.

"She came willingly! You can't force a cub—a cub—to leave her family! You're lucky she was able to revert back to Terra," Sheena growled. "I'm trying to right your wrongs, if nobody else will. Someone needs to show you how to behave."

"You would dare?"

"If it means you stop corrupting us, then yes."

"You could be so much more."

"It's not going to end like this, Narwhal."

"I think it will." He came forward. His claws were still unsheathed.

Sheena backed away, fear lighting her violet eyes. "Is that necessary?"

"I must win." He was mumbling to himself now.

"Win what?" Sheena was afraid and tried to keep her voice from trembling.

"Tonight, Sheena... Tonight, I will grow stronger. Tonight, I will become the earth." He advanced on her, muscles tensing.

She backed against a tree trunk, scrambling away from Narwhal's claws, but it was too late. They rushed forward, glinting in the light, straight at her throat.

And as the first drops of rain began to fall, the world went black.

I'm glad you're enjoying it so much! Unfortunately, I'm running out of writing to share. I think I might stop writing altogether - all the little inconsistencies and the pointless rambling of the plot is getting to me. I need to think about this one.

Agh, no! This is a terrible place to leave us! We need more! The dialogue is really good in this part!

I'm saving you from a cliffhanger with.. ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER!! I'll be posting in smaller pieces now, to make the story last longer.

Light danced before Sheena's eyes, sparkling in rays and dapples over the ground.

Where is the ground? she thought, but found she could not see.

"Hello?" she called, but could not hear her voice. Had she said hello, or something else? She could not be sure. It was similar, she decided, to being in the darkness of the Black Hole. Maybe that's where she was. And then she heard it, a "hello" echoing back. It was her voice, she was sure of it. But what had it echoed from? What was there to echo from? It was just water, after all.

Wasn't it?

"Where am I?" she asked, but knew she wouldn't get an answer, other than her own voice reverberating back to her.

Then she realized she could see. She was standing on... nothing. That was odd. And all around her sparkled lights, almost like stars—were they stars? The space around her seemed turquoise, but maybe it was darkness. There was darkness above her, almost the color of her own pelt.

And then a path of stars appeared in front of her paws. Sheena touched it, tentatively at first, but when it didn't give way, she padded onto it. She couldn't feel it, she couldn't feel anything. But she could see. She could see that path of stars, of glowing, mysterious lights, and she followed it. The world seemed to spin, lazily rotating at first, but gradually speeding up, as Sheena padded along the path. She was running now, running on the path, not losing strength, but not gathering strength, either.

She ran blindly on the path, not going in any clear direction, as light filled her eyes. Light—bright, harsh, light—filled her whole world and then was gone.

You sound so surprised :'D

What did you expect - for there to be a decent ending to a part? Haha no way -

Oh, no. It would be totally unusual and out of the question for you to give us a new part without a cliffhanger. How awful would that be?

XD
