Chatterbox: Blab About Books

LOTR Trivia Game
For all Tolkienites...

For all Tolkienites and Ringers!

Rules the same as for the HP trivia game--no Googling or looking at the book!

Also try to keep the questions within the actual Lord of the Rings--like nothing from the Silmarillion or Hobbit.

I'll start off with two easy ones:

What is the human equivalent of 33 Hobbit years?

What is the English translation for "Telcontar"?

Okay, nobody else is posting....

In the book, explain the timeframe between Bilbo's 111 birthday party and Frodo's leaving the Shire.

Let me try to answer everything:

Anarian is close enough--it's Anarion.

I would be a Woman, like Éowyn. I would probably choose an Elf second, but an Elf from the First or Second Age.

Telcontar translates to "Strider."

I was just thinking of the meals earlier! I know Second Breakfast, elevenses, and afternoon tea figure in and assuredly lunch and dinner, but I can't say for certain.

What do you mean by explain? I know 12 years pass, in which Gollum escapes Mordor and Gandalf is captured by Saruman.

New question...Gandalf received his Elven ring from whom?

I wanted to say Gil-Galad, but I'm not sure...

Second Breakfast

another translation is

Was that literally all in the book?! Good gracious, no wonder usually Hobbits don't go questing. They're too busy eating!

They are all at least mentioned in the book, or at least the appendices ( think). I memorized it a few years ago because I was bored.

That is awesome. Congrats, S.E! Here is my question, it's pretty easy, I guess.

What do the runes on the map in The Hobbit say?
