Chatterbox: Blab About Books

LOTR Trivia Game
For all Tolkienites...

For all Tolkienites and Ringers!

Rules the same as for the HP trivia game--no Googling or looking at the book!

Also try to keep the questions within the actual Lord of the Rings--like nothing from the Silmarillion or Hobbit.

I'll start off with two easy ones:

What is the human equivalent of 33 Hobbit years?

What is the English translation for "Telcontar"?

Oh boy. The first one is just over fifty, I think. I'm terrible at remembering stuff like that. For the second... Let's just say I read the books four summers ago and haven't had time to read them since. And in the time between then and now, I've probably read over 600 books, so... yeah. It's on the tip of my tongue!!!! Oh, goodness. If I think of it, I'll say it.

Well, question, question...

Um, What are the names of the three rings belonging to the elves?

(Does tha count?)

Narya, Vilya and...Nenya?

Question: Do you ever have dreams where you're in Middle Earth? I totally do; I was in Rivendell two nights ago!

Oh, yes! I have many, many LotR dreams. Last night I was traveling around Middle Earth.

*sighs.

Okay, um, this is more of a questiony question, not a trivia one. Which character do you prefer in the fellowship? For me: duh! Aragorn...

Legolas!

Question: Who was the most feared dragon ever to be in Middle-Earth? (It isn't Smaug)

Pie says admm! Does it want to hear the story of Adam and Eve?

No, Pie is saying it likes Admin!

The guy in The Children of Hurin, whose name escapes me for the moment. Was it Glaurung?

BTW, that's a Silmarillion question, which is kind of  off-limits, but we know everything here anyway.

No, it was Ancalagon the Black. Sorry, you're right, that's really Silmarillon.

Who were the two sons of Elendil?

You know what? I'm going to go reread the books. They are fantastic, it's April vacation, and I am terrible at remembering trivia.

I definitely know one is Isildor (everybody knows that), but I'm not sure about the other one. It starts with an a, right?

Yes, and sounds much like his kingdom Arnor (and Enya's song Aníron from FotR).

I wanted to say Anarian, but I was pretty sure that was wrong.

Can I post a question?

If you could be an elf, a dwarf, a wo/man, eagle, orc, uruk-hai,  wizard, dragon, etc. which would you rather be?

I'd have to say it is a tie between elf and dragon. I've always dreamed of being draconine.

For the first question, doesn't it translate to something about Aragorn? I want to say it means king or strider, but I am probably wrong.

I have another really easy question: What is the full schedule of hobbit meals?
