Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Book Recomendations
We're all big...

We're all big readers here, so I thought it would be a fun idea to recommend some great books we have read to our friends on the CB! All you have to do is write what genre it is and a sentence about the plot, and why you like the book. IMPORTANT: DO NOT SPOIL THE PLOT! It's no fun if you do that. So, yeah, that's my idea.

If you like stories about people with one strength or magical power, these books are for you:

Savvy by Ingrid Law. It's about a girl named Mibs who gets a special power (or savvy) on her 13th b-day and goes on a journey to save her dad. It's modern fantasy.

Scumble by Ingrid Law. (Savvy's sequal.) It's about Mibs's cousin Ledge who get his savvy and has an adventure when he has to stay at his uncle's for the summer. Also modern fantasy.

Remarkable by Lizzie K. Foley. About a girl named Jane who is the most ordinary person in her remarkable town.  Modern fantasy again.

A Tangle of Knots by Lisa Graff. About Cady, who lives in a world where everyone has a Talent they have to find. (Admins I capotilized that on purpose, so don't change it.) Hers is baking and she finds quite the adventure when she is adopted. Modern fantasy for the 4th time.

More recommendations coming soon!

Gordon says mnot. Not? Gordon, don't mislead them! I am going to do more, I promise.

The Wildwood series is a nice one. It's about a girl and a boy who go into this woodland which apparently no-one escapes from and find towns, people, talking animals, and Mystics, who are a group of people who can talk to and control plants. This is a fun book and very exciting. My favorite quote from the series (Two quotes, actually) is "What about street repair? I have a pothole in the street the size of a fat bear's belly!" "Hey!" said an offended bear." That is from the third book, by the way.

Smile by Raina Telgemeier: This book follows a girl (Raina) from 6th grade, when she injures her teeth dramatically and has to go through serious treatment through high school. This is a sweet story about a girl and her expiriences in middle school and high school. BTW it's a graphic novel.

Sisters by Raina Telgemeier: About the same character as smile at the same time, but focusing on a specific road trip to a family reunion. It also includes numorous flashbacks to Raina and har sister Amara's early childhood as well.

The Maximum Ride series, no doubt. Basically, a girl named Max is 14 years old and she's 98% human and 2% bird and also she can fly and her "flock," a.k.a. her group of friends/family always goes on adventures together and it's a pretty dang amazing story and I love it incredibly and I'm not even an action-packed book fan but oh my Buddha is it great or what. That was one sentence, right?

And the genre is probably action, comedy, and a TINY bit of romance. Not too much, I promise.
