House of Hades
HOUSE OF HADES!!!!...
HOUSE OF HADES!!!!
By the time this is posted, it will likely already be October 8, which means... THE HOUSE OF HADES HAS BEEN RELEASED!!!!!! It's late, but I'm going into MAJOR fangirling fits of impatience waiting for this. I'm going insane! I'm dying! I've BEEN dying! But this HAS to be the most painful part of the dying process!
Now, before we all go screaming about how we got it, what it looks like, etc. we should all agree NOT to spoil ANYTHING for at least one month. I read this with my family, so it'll take longer for us to finish it. It will be INSANELY hard, I know, but for the sake of others...
Agreed?

@ Lena: My family reads it together. We're in the middle of another book, so I have to wait. My mom alone would tan my hide if I read ahead!

Oh, okay! That's all I needed to know.

I agree about Nico, it was a really big surprise... (although I haven't read the book yet I heard about it).

I was definitely surprised, but less because it was Nico and more because I didn't think Rick Riordan would have the guts to do that. Points to him.

I think it's good that he wrote that. It's leaving the cliche and entering the realm of modern life. Besides, he must have gotten bored writing his other perfect, stereotypical romances. Let's admit it, we're all getting bored of those too.
Also, I agree about not expecting him to have the guts to do that.

I finished it today, and never mind Nico! Leo's finally got a girl if he can make it back to Ogygia! What do you think the odds are? I think only if a god lets him go back as a gift of something, or if Calypso gets released from her prison. Heck she kissed him! WTF!!! Leo's got to get back to her and keep his unkeepable promise!

***SPOILERS***
Unfortunately, I think that Leo's promise to Calypso is the oath to keep with final breath. I hope not, but maybe it's a double meaning.

Oh, gosh, reading your oh-so-gentle hints about the book is driving me CRAZY!!!! I'm almost thinking of dishing out $14 to buy it just so I can end the misery of waiting for it from the library. *sob*

It is always so disappointing to finsh a book. I mean it was great, as usaul, but that is kind of the problem. I don't know how I am going to wait another whole year. This one had several things I wasn't quite expecting, though I think they fit well with the story.

I'm getting scared that I'm about to finish HoH! How will I survive until the next book? Maybe I can scream about it with Maddie and Ayla and Nora. That would be fun!
Cappie says somthing.

I just heard about the thing with Nico, and I've got to say, I'm DEEPLY disappointed in Rick. That made me physically nauseous. I'm really tempted not to even read the book anymore. I'm just disgusted. My admiration for Rick went way down. I probably won't finish the series. When my mom heard, she was quite angry, and does't want me reading the next book. I like PJO, but I'm not a fan of Heroes of Olympus.

I'm trying not to spoil anything in this post:
I actually like the thing about Nico. It gives a nice change of events, and to be honest, I think we all needed a better look into why Nico has always been so.... dark and mysterious. I mean, one might assume at first that it's just because he's the son of Hades, but on any further examination of all his actions throughout the series, you know there's got to be a reason. Personally, I think that Rick was right to add this plot twist, as it gives so much more dimension to the plotline as a whole, whereas if he kept on with these perfect, no trouble whatsoever, mainstream romances, the plotline would continue to fade and become somewhat two dimensional. Where a lot of authors have resorted to trauma and tragedy to add flair to a plotline as it begins to fail, Rick gave his the same profound effect with a simple turn in thinking, at the same time giving the reader a new level of sympathy and connection toward a character so commonly seen from one point of view.
Sorry for my rant... I know it was a bit repetitive...

Umm, when I got to that part I think I would call it... weird. I just think that Greek romances are weird, and the fact that Rick mentioned two romances like that just makes me feel like that was my worst favorite part.( I hate romances! I just lke the adventure part in the PJ series.)

I think the whole Nico thing is completely unnecessary. Especially since he's only thirteen. And this book is directed at a younger audience. They definitely don't need to be focusing on this kind of topic. I prefer straight romances, if I like a romance at all. People don't need to dwell on this, let alone even know about it. I'm not one to like romances. The whole Hazel and Frank, Piper and Jason thing was seriously starting to get on my nerves. But I like them far better than this thing with Nico. I'm probably not going to read House of Hades. If I do, I'm skipping everything with Nico. I really don't care what happens to him anymore. And I'm not a Rick Riordan supporter anymore. I won't buy any more of his books. I'm won't recommend him to anyone else.
@ Lena: Oh my gosh, you and I are SO on the same page! I hate romances too! I don't get why every author feels they have to put it in their book. I loved the action in PJO, and there wasn't that much focus on romance. I loved it for that. Heroes of Olympus is focused way too much on the romance aspect. It drives me nuts, and honestly, makes me want to vomit. When I'm published, my publisher/editor will have to put up with my no romance rule. If, for some reason, I put romance in my book, it will be straight, and gone about the proper way. I'll drop anyone that objects. And yeah, Greek romances are weird, I agree.

Yeah, I saw that coming, but I must admit I wish he hadn't followed the trends and added it. My friends were very upset over it.
Personally, I wish he had just stayed with his usual romances. I like continuity, especially in books.
