Does anyone else

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Does anyone else read like a maniac?
Does anyone else...

Does anyone else read really fast and can't stop reading? Like, I've read 151 books this year and it isn't even the end yet! And whenever I finish a book, I can't not not start another one right away. My sisters (I have five) sometimes go long periods without reading, but I can't do that! And I read really fast too. Like 100 pages (or more, sometimes, depending on the book even 300) an hour! I can finish a 465 page book in two days if I read about two hours a day

And whenever I don't have a book to start I can't fuction right. Am I the only one who does this?

I have managed to read about 500 pages in a day. I mean in about 12 hours total reading time. I have read The Lord of the Rings in about three days, and each volume from around lunch one day, to around lunch the next day!

Haha yes xD For awhile I went without reading and I was *coughdyingcough* I don't know how I did it... now I'm reading 6 books again and back on track with the Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairlyand trilogy. On book two (in a few minutes anyway).

That is 100% me. If I were stranded on a desert island and I could only pick one thing to have with me, I would choose a stack of books instead of water/food.

If a book is really good (The Hobbit, TLDC, Gregor The Overlander, etc.), and I "get into it", sometimes I can finish a book in less than a day. I've done it before. And I'm talking about like 350-500 page books.

People assume that time is a strict progression of cause-to-effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective, viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly... timey-wimey, stuff.

I read way too fast for my own good. Finished The House of Hades in 1 and 1/2 days. It was sad. Then I just read it over again. I don't count how many books I read, but I've read a lot. I think one of my favorite things I the world is my taller than me bookshelf in my room. And my Kindle

Reading like a maniac. Now where have I heard that expression before? Oh yes, to describe me!

I read The Lord of The Rings in less than two weeks, I have finished 300 page books in one sitting (mind you, I have rather a lot of free time, so that sitting could have been anywhere from an hour to four hours....), and although I do have times when something other than a book captivates me (this is usually just after I've finished a book that I didn't like), I usually have to visit the library two or three times a week. Anyways, Yes: I read like a maniac, and judging by the amount of replies to this post, I am in no way alone in this!

Wait, there are people who don't read like crazy, even when they aren't bogged down with work? That's news to me.

Yeah, I am a crazy reader. In fact, if I'm not really busy with school and stuff, then I will easily read one or two chapter books in a day. I think I'll think it unusual if I don't. I read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in about a day, but thick fantasy books like that are usually read unusually fast for me. Then again, fantasy and historical fiction are my favorite genres.

I'd go perfectly insane without books. I also read fairly fast, but not as fast as Corina H. or Gollum!

I have no idea if I'm a fast reader unless you count finishing the last 3 books of the Eragon Books in one day ( I skipped about 2 inches of Eldest) but I finished all of them and I can finish a 1 1/2 inch book in 2-4 hours so yeah I think I'm fast unless that super fast...

Yup, I reads like crazy. In third grade, it was the middle of the school year, and I read the entire Harry Potter series in one week. In the summer, I read 2 or three 200-500 page books a day. I read for like 2-4 hours, so I am a fast reader.

I don't read very fast, but I read A LOT. Wherever I go, I have a book with me. Even to my friend's house... although I don't end up reading it there most times. I think I've read about 90 books this year. Congrats on the 150! That's so many books!

Okay... now I'm going to go read "Cress" by Marissa Meyer. About a quarter through it.

I'm ALWAYS reading! I even bring books into the shower! It's hard not to get them wet. And I read SUPER fast. Once I got a 6oo-page novel, and I finished it in one day.

Does anyone else read in spurts? I do. For instance, I will read like a maniac for about 2 months, then stop for a period of time. I am just getting into one of my spurts, which is good. My library has the summer reading thing, and I do it every year. I wish they would up the requirement of reading. It is currently 10 books, but I can manage 20 in nothing flat. Anyone else doing the summer reading thing? Or do your libraries have it? I am not sure. It might be a county thing... Last year, I was put into a raffle and won an iPod. It was pretty cool.

Is it not obvious?! I read. And read. And read. And... You get the point. I read fast, too!

I normally finish my library's summer reading thing rather fast -- if I remember to keep track.

Books and libraries mentioned in a conversation will interest me immediately ;)
