Does anyone else

Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Does anyone else read like a maniac?
Does anyone else...

Does anyone else read really fast and can't stop reading? Like, I've read 151 books this year and it isn't even the end yet! And whenever I finish a book, I can't not not start another one right away. My sisters (I have five) sometimes go long periods without reading, but I can't do that! And I read really fast too. Like 100 pages (or more, sometimes, depending on the book even 300) an hour! I can finish a 465 page book in two days if I read about two hours a day

And whenever I don't have a book to start I can't fuction right. Am I the only one who does this?

I'm definitely.  I read so much.  When I get bored, I read.  When I'm happy, I read.  When I'm sad, I read.  There is a book with me at almost all times.

Correction: she ALWAYS has a book! We go to parties and she brings books. Yeah, it's that bad

I also love to read and I read pretty fast but it really depends on how much time I have. During vacations I can normally finish 400-600 paged books in 48 hours or so. I know some people who really NEVER read and I just don't know how they do it! :)

I misinterpreted that at first and thought you meant that you read 400 to 600 total books on vacation.

Yay reading!

I am like you; I love to read! Unfortunately, as I'm getting older it seems like I have less time to read because of school, homework, dance, volleyball, etc. I read the most over weekends and in the summer or other vacations.

Same. I love reading and can read really fast (I read a 568 page book in less than 24 hours), but I feel like I don't have as much time anymore since I have school and I have dance class 8 hours a week.

Was that a run-on sentence?

I read a lot, and usually if I'm trying to make a character in a novel not be a reader I'm like "but what am I supposed to do with you?" so they all end up reading.  I haven't been reading as much as I'd like to recently, and when I was in The Music Man I could definitely see why some people just don't read a lot because they're into theatre or something else.  No, I don't think video games count.

I do read voraciously. I read all of Harry Potter in one week, and even my cousin, who claims to be a speed-reader herself, was impressed. Plus, reading anything (good, bad and ugly) helps give me inspiration to write.

Don't get me started on this. I typically always have a book with me, and when I'm REALLY mad, like so mad I can't interact with humans, I go in my room and I read and I can get through like ten books that way. I alwaysalwaysalways have a book with me because if I get bored I need something to do right? Unrelated but I'm watching Star Trek Into Darkness right now and Benedict Cumberbatch made his opening scene and I was fangirling.

Yes. I agree. Maniacal reading is good for the soul. I'm only on 71 books this school year but I will catch up to you! As soon as I finish Storm of Swords! Which takes forever because it is failing to hold my interest. It's so predictable.

I read to the point I tick people off. I read cause I love to, and I read cause it keeps me form socially interacting (okay, kidding, sort of). I read at restuarants while waiting for food, I read before Church service so I don't have to talk to anyone, I read late into the night, I read during lunch, I read when I'm bored, I read always. I read when I go to parties too. I'm the kind of person who pulls a cap low over my face, sits in a corner during social funtions, and reads, becoming totally oblivious to my surrounding. I feel at a complete loss when I don't have a book with me! So yes, this is evidently a natural thing. Let's hope. If not, we all need serious help.

I'm pretty socially active, (I think), but I have been reading so much in class that some of my teachers get really ticked off and jokingly (I hope) say "Reading is bad for you! "Then I put the book down, but resume reading the moment I can.
