Chatterbox: Blab About Books

Chatterbox Bookclub!
I know there...

I know there was another one like this on the InkW, but I wanted to start it again.

I suggest 'A Proud Taste for Scarlet and Miniver' by E. L. Konigsburg.  You can suggest other ones, and if people like that better, we'll read that.

Anyone interested?

I have some ideas too. They would be A Mango Shaped Space by Wendy Mass and Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper.

Those are just suggestions; I'm ok with whatever you choose.

I vote for Out of My Mind.

And I withdraw my vote for my own suggestion.

If you had TOLD me it was out of my mind, I could've gotten it at the book fair yesterday!

Instead I got UNGIFTED and CINDER.

Sorry, Theo. I wish I had posted it earlier, but at least you can go to a library!

I vote that we read First Light, by Rebecca Stead.

I would do this but I have two books to read all tomorrow and possibly more to read in a short piece of time after that so I can't now. Maybe later. I probably should be reading right now...

I finished it.  I liked how Konigsburg took Eleanor's life and made a fictional story out of it.

I was going to suggest Graceling, but since I love Wendy Mass, I'll vote for A Mango Shaped Space (regardless of it being a rereading for me).

Currently the polls are at:

First Light: 0, one withdrawal.

Out of My Mind: 2

A Mango Shaped Space: 2

As there is a tie, the voting period will be extended until March 3rd.

I have yet to cast a vote, and since I do really need to read both of those (I also need to read a bunch of graphic novels--whoever said comics rot your brains was weird). I'll think about it.

Just commenting, who has read RULES by Cynithia Lord and THE ONE AND ONLY IVAN by whoever wrote that book?

I am a fantasy person, and I loved them both.

Actually in my paper for school I said "And Fantasy teaches you about wizards and unicorns."

I've read Rules. It is a pretty good book.

The Polls are changed at

First Light: 0, one withdrawal.

Out of My Mind: 3 (I'm assuming the book fair plea was a vote.)

A Mango Shaped Space: 2

Voting ends at midnight, your time zone, March 3rd.  We will make a final decision on all votes by March 4th, as all the comments should be in by then.  I think that the books that didn't get voted for to win should be in the voting for next month's reading.

Yeah, you're right. Now I shall officially vote for OUT OF MY MIND.

..and electronicly put it on hold.

The main character's name is Melody?!  Heck yes!

I'm not sure if I'm going to have time to read it, though, because my drama club is advancing in a competition so March is a little crazy for me.

Sorry! Haven't been much involved here! I like the sound of this one! Going to try to find it... Hmm. Can't get to the library for another week.
